When you get a new kitty, it's a good idea to put her in the bathroom for a day or two, so you can go in and talk to her, give her a few treats and let her know you are one of the good guys. Otherwise, may of them will hide in the house for weeks, and that's no fun for them.

@@jennyclark6183 some times that happens I've always been a 2 cat guy each time the new cat has hid my Oreo is the treat king all she wants is treats she showed up in my garage as my black cat cutlas was on his 23 rd year of life my other black cat Sara witch I got as a kitten is 12 I let Oreo in because she is a polydaktal.long hair must have main coon.she is gigantic. I gotta admit, i'm shocked how fast Cody warmed-up to you two! Usually it'll take new cats several days for them to 'come out of hiding' and warm up to their owners. Looks like you selected a winner! Congrats!

Cody figured out the territory very quickly. He was obviously no fool.. with good and kind people. Cats can sense when cat people adopt them and they adopt cat people. It's the Waccado people that think a cat is a little human being (or worse yet a total dog) and then they start trying to put expected behaviors on a cat that they don't want to do. So this is quite sweet. I have my six. I'all do it OK together. There are adjustment times but a lot of love and care and tenderness goes along way. Oh and temptation treats... don't forget the treats.

My ginger (all of mine were cats rescued from the streets) came to me as soon as I called him from across the street and that was the first time we met as soon as he let me pick him up...... his name was gringo and he was with me till the day he died in 2007 I still miss him every day...... ok I'll leave before I cry

@@kahenafitzgerald3321 Not so rare. Tabbies are very happy-go-lucky cats and adapt quickly. Few months ago I adopted a 6-year-old brown tabby and it took him less than 24 hrs to feel perfectly at home. Loving, trusting and playful. :)

I missed that Alvi had died.. I have been very under the weather for the last few weeks. And not on KZfaq. I am so sorry. And I can see why Cody appealed to you. A Lovely ginger. And I will watch the other video. Right now I am in total tears... but I am so glad that you are keeping it as the Alvi cat channel. That's how I discovered you. So wish you'd peace and blessings knowing Alvi is up there with all of my other little bozos over the years just raising hell and playing and having a wonderful and joyful time. All of you take care of yourself. Hugs to Cody. Wait until he figures out just what a wonderful family that he decided to pick out. You know we never pick them. They pick us and we are mirror slaves to their every whim. (You might want to put out a tad of kibble overnight so Cody doesn't decide to wake you up at 4 a.m. and not your choice.) But was protecting a litter box and being aggressive -- SO not her nature. it was time for her to get an inspection and of course a couple of antibiotic/vitamin shots and now we're playing the trying to get liquid medicine in her. That is always fun.)

So sorry you had to hear it this late! Alvi's death was as unexpected for us as it was for everyone else out there. The first days were days of total confusion but already within a week it became clear we had to adopt another cat. Now we are very happy to have Cody around.... A happy day! You will never regret it. That little angel will give you so much. I had one almost just like that. Moine was a female. I lost her last summer, after almost 20yrs. She never failed to make me laugh, and listen to me when noone else would. She was a good listener.

I feel broken by Alvi’s passing. I didn’t know I could grow so attached to a cat I watched on KZfaq. Maybe also because he looked a lot like my own cat who passed and this brings it back. Come back Alvi 🥺😭

Cody doesn't yet realize what a good home he's found himself in. How old is he? He seems young. Will he be going outside like Alvi? He looks even more like my cat, Marty, than Alvi did. Might I suggest "Alvi cat channel: the next generation"

Lol! No, sorry... we keep calling it Alvi cat channel, because Alvi was the main source of inspiration to start this channel. Cody is two years old, by the way. He used to spend a lot of time outside, so we let him out too, but so far we do it gradually and under supervision. We first like to see how 'clever' he is outside.

He's a cutie, wanna see more about his adoption process:how you found him and decided that he's the one and only. We lost out beloved family cat 2 years ago, and my mom was absolutely devastated. He happily lived with us for 20 years, and she couldn't imagine her life without him. She even said that she doesn't want any pets anymore because it was too much for her. However, a year later or so, she found out in social media that there was this cat in our local shelter, she was part siamese part ragdoll or smth, and she was in such a horrible condition. Her previous owners weren't people, but actual monsters, they've punched and beaten her and cut her with razor blades, it's horrific, and I cry even thinking about it. So as soon as my mom saw that post her heart immediately ached for this poor bean, and she took her home. Now Bella is receiving all the love and care she was lacking all of her life, and my mom's finally in peace. Animals are wonderful beings, we're saving them, and then they're saving us in return

What a GORGEOUS,affectionate and AWESOME ginger boy!😍 And of course,super smart as well..it took less than 24 hours to get comfortable in his new home!👍👍👍 I wish him and you guys a long,healthy, happy,fun life togheter,full of adventures and cuddles.. AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ADOPTING AND NOT SHOPPING! 🙏 I hope with videos like these many potential adopters will see that shelters are full of beautiful cats and dogs that aren't there for any faults of their own and just need and wait for a second chance to shine ..👍

@@Aleyah Na, scared cats act a lot differently. Their ears go back, tail goes down, and they drop lower to the ground as they run away. This guy just seems excited and inquisitive..

I’m glad you got a kitty so quick! I know you are still mourning Alvi, but there are so many kitties that need a loving home, and your home is GREAT for kitties! You also did the right thing by adopting an adult cat! Adult cats have a harder time finding a loving home.

Frankly they tend to be a little too friendly in my opinion. I prefer a regular gray tabby. I also like those giant Forest cats, Maine Coons, Russians, & Norwegians. Orange tabby is probably a good selection to adopt though. You might never get a black cat to love you. Orange tabby or Russian blue if you could find one.

@@theminister1154 I have a soft spot for those blue British Shorthairs but there's so many kittens and cats that need rehoming I'd always choose to adopt over buying one's that are bred to be sold

And the story continues :). Like many said already, Alvi will smile and purr in contention with your new cat, his final part on our world and into his next. Cody is wel instructed by him, not many times you see a cat get that comfortable within 24 hours. It's gonna be a pleasure seeing this new one develop with new adventures. RIP Alvi hope you enjoy the view from way up.

I haven't watched this channel in a while & was going through all of my subscriptions when I read about Alvi's passing. I was immediately hit with incredible sadness because I remembered him very well from your videos. My sadness was put on hold when I saw you just adopted another beautiful, orange boy. Cody will be a wonderful way to honor Alvi's memory as it's easy to see he is made of the same exceptional qualities as Alvi was. He is clearly very happy in his new home and I am very happy for you all!!

We've recently been adopted by a Ginger Cat as well. He showed up in our back yard about 2 months ago and he immediately accepted us as his human benefactors. The said he's about 18 months old so we look forward to a long relationship with Tommy. Unfortunately, our other two cats don't like the idea too much. Oh, well. Anyway, congratulations on getting Cody. We wish you all the best. Give Cody a real nice petting session for us.

Tabbies are the best! I've adopted one almost 3 years ago and he was 6 at the time. He adapted to our home immediately and was as asleep with me the first night. He's affectionate, funny, playful and doesn't have a mean bone in him. Love him with all my heart!

Reminds me of when we rescued my orange boy. He adapted to the environment almost right away. It was like he said, "yep...this will do" and immediately started exploring the whole house. He's king of the castle now.

Cody was so comfortable so quickly because Alvi made this happen. Alvi sent Cody to you because he knew how big and loving your hearts are, and he wanted another kitty to have that, too. I am so happy for you all 💞💕💖 And Alvi will never, ever be forgotten. This is the best tribute you can give him.

@@jonogren5567 I'll put your apparent lack of empathy down to a poor grasp of English. In fact, vets when faced with an elderly cat are very reluctant to use anaesthesia at all. However, a cat with bad teeth will very quickly lose condition because he finds eating so very painful. It's a very difficult decision to make, but I believe it was the correct one. Alvi might have died under anaesthetic or he would have definitely died through not eating (which in itself is also a dangerous thing for cats - causes hepatic lipidosis).
