This concert is the gold standard for Nightwish. Keep in mind Floor was the lead singer of her own band at this point and was just a fill in for the singer that dipped out mid tour. She had worked with Nightwish for years but was only singing with them for 10 months at this point.

Wacken Open Air is one of the oldest and largest metal festivals in the world, in Germany. It has 85,000 visitors, another 15,000 visit the village of Wacken. The festival site used to be a pasture and is now a hay meadow, which is why the logo is a bull's skull. It was shown in the video on the left. The concert has something of a rebirth about it. 10 months earlier, Nightwish had fallen out with their second singer Anette, two days before the next concert. Mastermind Tuomas says that the band was in survival mode at that point. Canceling was not an option, nor was continuing. Floor had already been booked as a replacement, but now had to arrive without preparation and learn 1.5 hours of setlist by heart. When this video was recorded, she was still officially the replacement. A permanent collaboration had already been agreed internally. The song was originally sung by Tarja, Floor changed the end shortly after her arrival. Singer/bassist Marko has unfortunately left the band after 20 years. But he gives us hope of a return. He is currently touring solo with his prog metal and with Tarja: MARKO HIETALA - Left On Mars (feat. Tarja Turunen) (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) Nightwish is releasing a new album in September, but unfortunately they will not be touring. The pandemic had messed up their plans. But they have also signed a new contract with their record label. Tuomas will probably write a new album in 2025. It would then be released in 2026 and in 2027 they would be touring worldwide again, including in the USA. Or they will do something completely different. I was at the Amsterdam November 28th 2022 concert. The first time for me. Due Floor's Beste Zangers participation 2019 I first heared Floor Jansen's voice and was mesmerized by it. She told about the band Nightwish she was in so I went to YT and listened to Ghost Love Score. Since then I'm hooked and sold.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZfaq. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZfaq in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Hello there. Nightwish is better live. Floor Jansen is the Valkyrie goddess standing at 6"1" barefoot. You have just scratched the surface of her vocals. Stage presence is masterful. Nightwish's 10th album comes out this September. Unfortunately, they are not touring this album so it may be a couple of years.

Greetings from Canada, where I saw them live in a small club venue in May 2022. They only did about 10 shows on the North American leg of their world tour. Glad you tried a live song with Floor. She is a wonderful person as well as an unparalleled singer. Enjoy your Nightwish journey. Since you watched Tarja sing the Phantom of the Opera with Marko, you should check out Floor singing the same song with Henk Porte( who was the Phantom for many years). They initially sang it on the TV show Beste Zangers, but later in 2023 with Nightwish at the Ziggo dome. There is an Official video on the Nightwish channel.

Yeah guys great reaction. Floor has no equal in female singers. You will be blown away by the amount of really good songs that Nightwish has. Nightwish does tour in the US but might only be in 2025/6 perhaps. We went and see them in June 2013 when Floor was 6 months pregnant in Gelsenkichen Germany. What a Devine experience

Absolutely normal that you are blown away. This is the best live performance in this part of the universe ever. Floor is not from this world. She was send from the Andromeda Galaxy to bring beauty and happiness to those wicked earthlings. And on that same spaceship the complete band of Nightwish came along to earth. They don't do bad songs. But you might try "the greatest show on earth" . Because that's excectly what it is. Or "the poet and the pendulum". First read the lyrics and do some background because they are not your "typical love songs". "Romanticide" for some heavier stuff. In fact that whole Wacken 2013 concert has to be experienced. But also a videoclip like "noise" is amazing. They are sooooo goooood. And Floor? There are a lot of excellent singers out there. But there is only one Floor Jansen. She plays in a league of her own.

Yay! More Nightwish please! Best band on the planet and of course our Queen, Valkyrie Goddess of Metal, Floor Jansen. (Pr. Yansen-she is Dutch) Maybe "Storytime" from Wacken next. They just finished a big world tour last year, Floor went through breast cancer surgery, then pregnant through the world tour, and then they have been making a new album this year to be released in September. Their last album has some excellent Lyric Videos as well as there are live performances at several festivals from that album. Check out the song Tribal which is a compilation of some of those shows. 😊 The first single from their upcoming, new album was released a bit ago called "Perfume of the Timeless." They are not doing back to back tours on this one unfortunately, but there are tons of super live concert performances to see. Floor released a Solo album last year as well and will be touring it a bit but I dont know if it will be outside Europe. Her youtube channel is a great place to find amazing videos of original and awesome covers she did during lockdown to keep her voice in shape, as well as appearances on some Dutch and German singing TV shows.

Tuomas (on keyboards), composer and writer of the lyrics of most Nightwish songs, loves movie soundtracks (especially from Hans Zimmer) and DIsney. You can hear this in a lot of the Nightwish songs. Tarja is a great singer, but Floor is much more versatile; she sings all from opera to death metal growls. After Tarja there had been Anette (2007 - 2012, more poppy); Floor joined Nightwish 2012 after Anette had become ill. In this concert she is still a "replacement" but became the official singer after this tour. You can see from the recordings of concerts with her that the boys had become much more relaxed and happy since Floor is the singer of Nightwish. They fit very well; in an interview 2015 Tuomas said about Floor "she is at home now" and Floor calls the male band members her brothers. They all love what they are doing on stage - and each other. By the way, on their last tour 2022/2023 they had also been to the USA and I am sure in future tours they also will return to your country. Their new album Yesterwynde will be released in September 2024; perhaps they will tour again 2025. There are many many people around the globe waiting for this.

I flew half way across the US to see them in Boston soon after bans were lifted from COVID . It was the best concert I've ever seen and I'm 51 with a lot of concerts under my belt lol. Well worth it , hopefully their break won't be long . Nightwish army Kansas City Missouri !

Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. So, you mentioned she touched each note to show that she can sing it? You heven't seen the tip of the iceberg yet. This rabbithole is so deep, you will need months to explore some of it! I was a fan of Floor's before I had ever heard Nightwish...back when she was in her first band After Forever, so she is definitely my favorite of the three Nightwish lead vocalists. Nothing wrong with the previous two, but Floor is just so versatile. She really CAN sing anything (there is even a video on KZfaq of her singing a page from the Dutch phone book, and it sounds amazing). Since you mentioned having watched the Tarja era version of Phantom of the Opera, there is a recent version from last year of Nightwish performing it with Floor. The male vocals on that new version are courtesy of Henk Poort, who was one of the OG Phantoms in the original stage productions (Marko, the guy you saw singing it with Tarja, is no longer in the band). Unfortunately, Nightwish have taken a hiatus from touring, though they do have a new album coming out in September (no tour for it, though)...the video for first single "Perfume of the Timeless" is on KZfaq.

In the studio version of this song (Tarja era) you can hear the choir singing: "My fall will be for you - My fall will be for you My love will be in you If you be the one to cut me I will bleed forever" In this live version the choir was pushed to the background, but you can hear and see the audience still singing it

My favorite singer in the whole wide world is Floor. Nightwish is not currently touring. Floor also has a solo career and she is doing some gigs this year. Unfortunately, they are all in the Netherlands (Floor is Dutch) and they are all sold out. You will find that your favorite Nightwish song is the next one you hear. Always do live shows. 😄🤘

Yep, I've seen them live, in 2021, in LA. Floor performed this song, in fact. It was overwhelming, honestly. That's the best word I can use to describe that concert. They aren't touring, for a while, for various reasons.

I'm not going to pick my favorite kid. At least in the context of Nightwish. Floor does however have a much more varied career so that comparison gets muddled. Floor also has the advantage of being able to sing the entire Nightwish catalog and so has been able to reinterpret the older stuff enough to keep it fresh but also keep it close enough so as to not alienate fans of the others.

Floor is my favourite female singer, probably my favourite singer at the moment, and has been since I first heard her. I saw them in 2022 in Wembley Arena, England, and they were phenomenal, with a great live sound, incredible musicianship (not showing off, all in service of the songs) and Floor’s immaculate live vocals. They are taking time off from touring, perhaps largely because the COVID lockdown interrupted their touring schedule. The tour for their last album was delayed by 2 years. They came straight off tour to record their next album which will be released in the autumn, but needed a break from touring so will not tour the new album. I would expect a possible world tour in 2026 as it will be their 30th anniversary.

Floor, the Valkyrie Queen, is without a doubt my favorite vocalist I have heard in my 60+ years listening to rock, hard rock, heavy metal....and as much as I love their first lead vocalist, Tarja, who has an amazing Operatic voice, I love Floor even more! Personally, I am still adding to my Nightwish CD collection...as I want to own every one of their albums! I also need to order Floors solo album, titled , "Paragon!" Great reaction. A few tips that may or may not help: Fans are very polarized on who is the best Nightwish singer. People are certainly entitled to their opinions, but the reality is that all 3 lead singers have made significant contributions to the band and are part of its amazing history. Each provide a unique flavor to the band and all 3 are amazing. The band is from Finland, while Floor Jansen is Dutch. Troy Donockley, their multi-instrumentalist is British. In many languages/cultures (including Finnish and Dutch), the letter J is pronounced as a Y, so Tarja is pronounced Tar-ya and Jansen is pronounced Yan-sen. This concert is from Wacken (pronounced Vah-ken) Open Air 2013. This is billed as the largest metal concert in the world and takes place in the small village of Wacken, Germany. I am excited to see you continue your journey into this incredible band!

124 Spider here...To be clear, I have followed Floor since After Forever, then Revamp and now Nightwih. But true Nightwish fans don't distinguish between the 3 singers that much. Ok, for me the best is Floor Jansen but I have to pay great respect to Tarja Tururen who launched the band into the spotlight and to Anette Olzon, whose albums were the ones that sold the most to date (At that time, many CDs were still being sold, Nowadays it's all Spotify or on a USB stick). For me, the 3 singers made history, the first (Tarja) made the band known, the second (Anette) didn't let the band die, and the third (Floor) took the band to another level. But today we wouldn't have Nightwish as we do if the first 2 singers hadn't made their contribution. ❤❤❤

Hi, at this time, Floor was the stand-in vocalist. Even so, she had the crowd of 82,000 + in the palm of her hand. Not long after this concert she was asked to join the band permanently.

I love Tarja, Anette, and Floor but my favorite will always be Floor. I feel their music at a level I never did before. I also love that she can sing anything in any style. It’s not just operatic or rock. It’s that plus everything in between. Floor + Nightwish 🤘🏻

I'm an older man and got to know Nightwish in the era that Anette already joined the band, but the first songs that were recommended to me were Tarja songs and yes, the first link I got from a youngster was Phantom of the Opera with Tarja and Marko. Short after that, some one else said, well if you like Nightwish, you might like After Forever too (Floors first band). I hadn't heard a song of them when I saw in a paper, that After Forever would perform that night in the city close to me and I went there without knowing the music. Already in the first song (Come), she blew me away. After that I went to my first Nightwish concert in Amsterdam (2012) with Anette as vocalist. Anette is a very good singer, but also very different from what I used to hear with Tarja. The Anette songs I loved to hear live, but I wasn't very pleased with the way she sang the older Tarja songs. I found out that Floor had joined Nightwish (actually 6 months after I had seen NW for the first time), when I was curious if Floor probably had joined Nightwish as a guest, as I thought that would be possible. The first hit on You Tube was this song, Ghost Love Score and again, Floor blew me away. I have seen Nightwish now 3 times including twice with Floor as singer, I have seen Floor also once with After Forever and I have see Floor solo live once. The newest album, Nightwish will not be touring, but probably their next they will and yes, they come to the US as well. as a matter of fact, Floors first concert with Nightwish was in Seattle (Wa). What is my favorite Nightwish song: Whichever one I'm listening to at the momenI. Really. There is no "bad" Nightwish song. Their albums don't have "filler" songs. There are no "time to take bathroom break" songs at their concerts. As for favorite Nightwish singer, this can be a bit of a divisive topic among the NW Army, but my favorite is Floor. No contest. She is so versatile in her range and vocal style and so good regardless of which style she is singing, I get tingles when I hear her (these are known as a "Floorgasms" in the NW Army). This happens even for songs I have heard her sing hundreds of times. There is something about the timbre of her voice that just speaks to my soul. That ability alone would be more than enough to make her my favorite. Add the emotion she puts into each song and the connection that she creates between her, the music, and the fans. Now add her being one of the most grounded, down-to-earth, humble, kind, genuine, and all around good people you would ever meet. Now add her striking physical presence and beauty when fully made up for an on-stage performance, and her complete willingness to be seen with little to no make-up off stage. Now add that she is happily married to the drummer from the Swedish Metal band Sabaton and together they have two girls, one less than a year old. Now add that she is a burnout and cancer survivor. I know I'm fanboying here. I don't care. I just can't say enough good things about this woman. As for Nightwish concerts in the US, and Nightwish concerts in general, you are unfortunately late to the party. They announced a while back that they are taking a break from touring for an indeterminate amount of time. They _did_ do a North American leg of their "Human. :||: Nature." world tour back in 2022, and I had the privilege of seeing their show in Denver. I had to drive 7 hours 1 way from my home (at the time) in Utah and get a hotel for 1 night to make it work. All the time and money I put into seeing them was worth every penny, and then some. The show was in a relatively small indoor venue and they didn't have the fancy LED screen or pyro, just some stage lights and some smoke machines. It didn't matter. The band _was_ the show. They put just as much energy into that performance in front of hundreds that they put into massive outdoor festivals in front of tens of thousands. Luckily, we have the professionally recorded concerts available on DVD/Blu-ray. If you notice, this performance of "Ghost Love Score" was taken from the DVD "Showtime, Storytime", which is the official live album for the tour following their 2011 studio album "Imaginaerum". There are more. Most/all of the songs from those can be found on KZfaq, along with whole-concert videos.

I have seen Nightwish in December 2022 for the first time live and it was the best concert I have ever seen my favorite song is The greatest show on Earth but I love all their songs

Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And their newest Yesterwynde, is the upcoming tenth studio album by Nightwish, and is set to be released on 20 September 2024. And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). Nice Reaction! Floor and the whole band are amazing! The genius behind most of their songs is the founder and keyboard player Toumas. They originally formed in 1996 and unfortunately have never become very popular in the U.S. After the pandemic they went to South America to tour and stopped in the U.S. for 6 shows. The Festival Concert Season in Europe is in full swing, so that is probably where Nightwish is and will be for a couple of months.

For me my favorite is Dead Boys Poem but I mean there are so many great songs by them. Cant believe that 6 years ago I didn't even know about them. Today they are right up there with Pink Floyd, Rush and Genesis, especially the Gabriel/Hackett era, as my favorite bands of all time.

With Nightwish, your favorite song is always the one you just heard. Get used to that! 😉 And also don't drink a lot of liquids before a concert if you get to attend one. Nightwish has no "pee songs." Those are the songs a band will stick somewhere near the middle of a concert to give people a chance to walk back and visit the bathroom because you don't mind missing the song. But you'll have to hold it at a Nightwish concert: no pee songs!

One thing I think a lot of people experience, especially discovery Nightwish for the first time,...the last song you listened to is always your favorite, and at some point you just love their body of work and might be able to pick a favorite. For me there are different types of favorite Nightwish songs, like overall or depending on my mood/situation. My overall favorite SO FAR is How's the Heart (the live acoustic version), Yours is an Empty Hope is definituely also up there :)

Clarification: NW isn't currently touring - anywhere. They needed a break. Floor (this singer) just had a baby not too many months ago. They did record a new album due in... September 20th (help me out guys). See the video "Perfume of the Timeless".

NW was here in smal city of Ostrobotnia Finland, where the drummer is from. I tryed to get the band to take a bath in winterswimming, but their timetable did not get the opportunity. Next time, i hope. Unfortunately i could not get to this event in my home town. so sad! NW is amasing.

This band kicks ass and enlists you into the army. At this concert Floor was not yet a member of the band. That was offered to her shortly after this concert. You have just scratched the surface of Floor’s abilities.
