I liked this album a lot when I heard it, but never enough for it to be something I bought with my hard earned money. In 94. I graduated and started working at a music store, and that employee discount quickly lead to me buying all the NIN I could find. Pretty Hate Machine is a great album and I still listen to "Sin" more than any other. Obviously, with the popularity of "Hurt" and Natural Born Killers, the song "Something I Can Never Have" is a great introduction to slower NIN. That said, and going by how much she loved this track/video, my next choice for Steph would be "Wish" along with the video. I love it lyrically, musically, and that video is badass! For newer NIN, I really like "Only"!

My wife and I saw them at Wembley, best concert experience ever. She was mostly coming along to keep me company (though she likes all kinds of live music), but the first thing she said afterwards was "I have GOT to see them again!" My favourite NW piece is _The_ _Greatest_ _Show_ _on_ _Earth,_ but don't react to that yet awhile - get more familiar with them first. Floor is my favourite female NW singer, but there are songs where I prefer Tarja's or Anette's performance.

If you haven't already done it, of course there is always "I Am The Walrus." They actually have a "video" of the band put together for some reason that's pretty trippy. I would recommend it (it is the studio version overlaid), but for some reason at the end the sound gets muddled up--bizarrely it somehow sounds like the vocals got separated from the instruments--and then the end gets cut off. Probably best to stick with the recording only.

Welcome to the best band ever! I like all 3 of the singers, but I do prefer Floor. If you're looking for more Nightwish with Floor, you can't go wrong with any of the songs from this concert. I'd suggest Storytime, Ever Dream, or Song of Myself next personally.

They talk about how they write songs all the time. They start by just strumming chords for practice and if something interesting (chord changes or hooks) happens accidently, they start writing rhymes in time and skipping, humming, or replacing words line by line until they craft the best words and turns of phrase for the verses. Almost always, music and words at the same time. For months, YESTERDAY was originally "Scrambled Eggs' until Paul replaced the words from his breakfast time writing.

John came into the studio with a hastily written song for Abbey road. However, the song was almost word for word a Chuck Berry cover song (Can't catch me). Paul and George thought that was too close for comfort so Paul altered the bass line, Ringo found an awesome fill and beat, and they changed the tempo to make it more a "swampy" Beatles song. Paul is harmonizing, but this is a John Lennon song.

I believe the Beatles may never have been given a chance by the record companies today and so their music might have been suppressed in that way, but if they got through that front barrier gate, they would have taken off just as they did in the 60's. 👌👌👍👍😁😁

I haven't scanned through the comments, but I'm sure this comment exists somewhere. Tarja, the bands first singer is pronounced "Tar-ee-uh." The reason for your tears is because Floor's voice touches your soul. This will not be the last time for you should you continue your Nightwish journey.

I think Floor is married to the drummer for Sabaton. Sabaton is a genre I think of as History Metal

I Have seen them live 2 times here in my hometown Vienna. My favorite singer of Nightwish is Floor jansen and my favorite song is "The greatest show on earth" - a more than 20 minutes long peace of art about the about the origin of life on earth. Today Floor isnt a new singer, she startet to sing with Nightwish in 2012. This concert you saw, was in Wacken (Germany) in 2013. Wacken is one of the biggest metal festivals! The did a DVD from this concert called "Showtime, Storytime". I see it 1-2 times every year. For me its one oft the top 5 concerts of all time!

Nightwish is taking 2024 and 2025 off from touring. They should be back in 2026 for the bands 30th anniversry.

if you like dramatic music then Symphonic Metal and Power Metal are probably going to be right up your alley. Bands such as Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation have female leads and other projects like Ayreon, Avantasia and American bands you may not know like Kamelot and the more progressive Symphony X are all worthwhile listens and often Nightwish act as the gateway drug into this epic musical world.

Clarification: NW isn't currently touring - anywhere. They needed a break. Floor (this singer) just had a baby not too many months ago. They did record a new album due in... September 20th (help me out guys). See the video "Perfume of the Timeless".

124 Spider here...To be clear, I have followed Floor since After Forever, then Revamp and now Nightwih. But true Nightwish fans don't distinguish between the 3 singers that much. Ok, for me the best is Floor Jansen but I have to pay great respect to Tarja Tururen who launched the band into the spotlight and to Anette Olzon, whose albums were the ones that sold the most to date (At that time, many CDs were still being sold, Nowadays it's all Spotify or on a USB stick). For me, the 3 singers made history, the first (Tarja) made the band known, the second (Anette) didn't let the band die, and the third (Floor) took the band to another level. But today we wouldn't have Nightwish as we do if the first 2 singers hadn't made their contribution. ❤❤❤

Hi, at this time, Floor was the stand-in vocalist. Even so, she had the crowd of 82,000 + in the palm of her hand. Not long after this concert she was asked to join the band permanently.

Seen them twice, including being in attendance at the infamous Denver show they made the documentary about. I enjoy each of the 3 singers for different reasons so don't think I can name my favorite. I do miss Marco from a singing perspective (but love Jukka's playing - props to Wintersun)

Floor is one of a kind. She is in her own league. But here in Europe there are a couple of equally talented bands and singers, e.g. Epica, Ad Infinitum, Xandria, Beyond the Black and of course Arjen Lucassen's supergroup/project Ayreon. A lot more rabbit holes to dive into and a lot of content for your channel. Well done, folks!
