I have family that lives near the same area as you do. What they did years ago was built a pole building near the highway, (about 2 miles from the house) and in the winter they park the trucks and cars in it and then just snowmobile from it to the house so that they don't need to do nearly as much plowing.

Hey Cody,I'd offer a bit of advice but it looks like the snow blower will cure all your ails. Well maybe someone else watching your channel can use this advice. Get yourself a rocket stove and run some copper pipe through it to heat up the pipe. Then you get yourself a garden hose maybe 50 to 100 feet and get that connected to the copper pipe. Check for leaks. When it's good to go fill the hose with a glycol mix (eco friendly of course). Lay out the garden hose in the snow and fire up your rocket stove and watch that snow melt. Once you get down to bare ground just push more snow on the hose with the tractor. Cheers, Bill

William Walter I gotta a buddy in SE Idaho that does this for a business. He uses some kind of piping and puts it in the ground under the driveways and it keeps that driveway clear and dry year round. That's saying something for a place that sees below zero weather for the majority of the winter months. Works great! As a side note, it runs off the city electric hot water tank in the home it's hooked up to. The rocket stove idea is an awesome one! 👍

There has been almost no winter in Virginia. Just a few cold days. Just because it snows somewhere doesn't mean there's no global warming. Take a look at trends rather than weather. *Weather is different than climate.* Do some basic research about glaciers, see how they have shrunk over the past decades. Climate change is real. Who/What is responsible for that climate change? I'm not sure, I'm not a scientist. Can we (mankind) do something about it? I am very skeptical something can be done. But it IS REAL.

I was born and raised in Michigan and in 1965 when I was 5 my dad bought a 1941, Fergeson-Ford 9N tractor. Starting at that age we plowed gardens, leveled yards, did landscaping and anything we could to make a little side money and yes I plowed a LOT of snow in my life! My absolute favorite time of my life was with working with my dad with that old tractor. I lost my dad when I was 23 and I miss him as much as when it happened but I have my memories. :). I hope that your son and you make the same memories and that you have a really longed lived life together.

I saw this situation shaping up (and called it) a few months ago. The plow is the wrong tool for your long lane -- you need a snowthrower! You've got those high banks now, and nowhere to push the new snowfalls. The tractor's bucket might work to gouge the banks away, but it will be a lot of work.

Growing up the neighbors on either side of me were in their 70's when I was a teenager and my dad and I would always plow their driveways for them and it might seem selfless, but the gratitude that they gave me was more than enough payment.

and yet up in Northern Canada we have hardly any snow. Not even enough to go snowmobiling on the trails. You can on the lakes but its not good. This is the least amount of snow we have got in a winter since I can ever remember. Normally at this time we would have a couple feet. This year 3-4 inches if you are lucky. Been awesome for collecting firewood though, can drive the truck through the swamps because they are frozen solid, can quad anywhere in the forest to collect it. Kind of been a nice winter. But still very cold! Not good for the ol septic tank with no snow to insulate it! Line froze up this year first time ever!

When I lived in a different neighbourhood in my own house, l bought a chinese motorisized rotating brush, about 7 feet wide and 3 feet in diameter, made for brooming sidewalks. It was a great tool, strong enough for getting the snow off the driveways and sidewalks we usually have in our aerea in South Germany. Two feet of snow that may fall over night have been no problem for the brush. It threw the snow more than 10 feet. I cleaned literally all the sidewalks and garage driveways, often every few hours when it was snowing a lot. I gave the motorbrush to a protestant church I where I allways went to for worship Jesus and the Lord, as I moved to another part of the city as a present. The janitor of the church was really happy with it.

Glad to hear Yanmar will have a snowblower attachment, because you could certainly test the hell out of it this winter! Helping the older neighbors is a great thing we all need to do, it is respectful and pays in making us better neighbors!

I love your videos... Keep it up. So all I can say is Snowblower.. Snowblower Snowblower...... I have a large rural acreage. Took me forever with a tractor and blade to clean the farm yard.... Then I bought a 7 foot wide blower.... Done in a quarter of the time.... Not moving the same snow over and over like with a blade. Good luck... Wish we had more snow here in MN..

i wish we could get a good snow here, all we get is flurries and black ice. snowed about an hour today, nothing stuck, my only aggravation was someone burned down my late uncles house tonight. my whole family is pretty upset. anywho, good luck with the snow and i look forward to seeing how the shop turns out.

With that much snow you might want to build, during the summer, an icehouse for off-grid cooling. An inner wall, 2 or 3 feet of space filled with sawdust or something like that, and an outer shell. Pack snow around the inside of inner wall and store items inside to keep the cool during the summer.

I have to agree with the snow blower for the front. I have a John Deere about the same size and I prefer the blower. You can put the snow where you want and it compacts it also. My piles are so much smaller with the blower than the plow, plus you can get right up to the wood piles and the barns. Well worth the investment. Gotta love sitting in the cab with the heater on playing in the snow. I really don't mind snow blowing. We have 12 inches coming tomorrow up here in NH tomorrow so I will be out after its done.

As a town foreman I use an old Case 1175 Tractor with an 8 ft. double auger blower. Only problem was the rear 3 point hitch (driving in reverse) but it worked great. Chute would clog up once in a while in the wet stuff, and of course the odd shear pin breaking. Happy Blowing. Hope you get your blower before the spring :)
