Once watched a tractor w/o trailer lose air pressure to the brakes and go into a flat spin off the road and into a line of pine trees. I know failing to a "brake" position is considered "safe", but that too can cause a lot of damage.

I keep my two trucks on trickle chargers as well as my ElectraGlide. The 04 Ranger might go 2 or 3 weeks before I drive it. I have a F350 I use for Hot Shot loads. It only gets driven if I have a load and loads have dropped off so it got parked last week and I don't see anything worth my time right now. With the bike I am getting 6 to 7 years out of the battery. I do the same for the lawn mower and got 8 years out of the last battery. Anything you are not driving daily needs to have a trickle charger on it.

this goes back some 40 years ....... one of my instructors was put OOS be a state cop because one tire was missing a valve stem cap....they were arguing about the log book but he never said how that argument was resolved...he also told us he was fined in NC because he rolled into a chicken coop with an unmade bed🤣

Reefers are more of a maintenance thing if the reefer messes up it ends up costing a lot dry van a lot better less maintenance and don’t have to worry if the reefer unit engine messes up or unit keeps shutting off

The thing about used trailers is you don't know how they were maintained and used. I bought several new flatbeds and had very few problems,the last one had about 800,000 mi on it when I sold it still had the original brakes and drums and wheel seals I changed the oil in the hubs at 500,000 mi and I did all the tire changing so every time I would check for loose or noisy bearings. I think it held up so good because it had 30,000lb. axles and I was the only driver. Your right about that pre trip I don't care how bad the weather is or whatever get out there and look it could save your life or someone else.

There's an access hole for your ABS wheel sensor alot of time's they just need too be pushed back in ( you can use a 1/2" Dr extension, pretty long one is needed and a small hammer and GENTLY TAP 3 too 4 taps may be good enough) then pull the TRL around for a minute or so (reaching at least 4mph) it doesn't hurt too back it at about 3 too 4 mph for 30' or 40' .

Don't know the way of things in the US, but here in the UK, all vehicles have to have an MOT, which basically means, the vehicle has to be taken to a test centre, which is a garage that is registered by the Department of Transport. The test is carried out by mechanics certified to carry the tests out. They look at brakes, tyres, window wipers, lights, etc. An MOT for a car is carried out three years after a brand new car has been bought, thereafter, its every year. With a lorry/trailer, an MOT has to be carried out from year 1, and every year thereafter. If they fail the MOT, then the vehicle cannot be driven until the items that have failed have to be fixed. There are also DVLA inspectors on major road networks, that will do spot checks on lorries. They are pulled in by police, then the inspectors will meticulously go over the lorry. If its deemed to be unsafe, it cannot not go any further on its journey, and these include lorries from the continent, and those from Eastern Europe, are notorious for being unroadworthy. Anyway Justin, great video, giving out important information. You could think about doing an information booklet on how to set up on your own with owner truck, etc

rough over here in Texas too for loads. i just stopped doing hazmat tanker loads and went back into intermodal boxes. Ill eventually do it again, but tanker freight has fallen out the bottom or the world almost. Intermodal doesnt pay as well but its more consistent. Make sure that bike is in a tender or getting started at least weekly or you will need a new battery for that too. 😅

You should be good as far as your axle spindle goes as an owner you should have looked up in the brake drum and checked the actual wheel seal out because that's what goes ( generally first) when wheel bearing's go bad. Always keep an eye on that area. Hub and or gasket could have just failed , but I think it's also going too be a leaking PSI o - ring that contributed too the failure. Just my opinion ( since I'm not right there hands on) but I've got a little experience in these things ( 38 year's truck and trailer mechanic and welder and fabrication) before becoming a driver. I follow your videos and wanted to touch on a product that would help with your bearing issues. Not many people know about these products. I do not know your trailer specifics but they carry many different for semi trailers. DRP Performance Products "hub defender" bearing spacers. Check it out. They allow you to tighten the hub nut fully and watch the video they have to show how tension load changes the revolution strain on the bearing and with a spacer it corrects it and has virtually no tension and can not get hot. This is why those climb in heat and seems random. It's not random its difference in the slop that's hard to guess when tightening with out the spacers. Though I would chime in and help spread the word about a great fix and safety product. Brandan from Ohio

His right about heavy loads every time I pick one up something goes wrong

I looks like the bearing disintegrated and exited out the hub cup. i went back about eight months and watched all the clips I could find after the front axel almost caught fire. I did notice one pattern after the bearing and spindle was replaced. The new. earring was routinely running about 120 degrees and the rear axle was always running much cooler than any of the other wheels on the truck. I don’t know what to make of it, but it might be that the worn bearings on that wheel were not seated and loose, so they were not warming up like the new bearing.

You may have a problem getting insured when its time to renew your insurance . This was the case after I was put out of service .

If you had done a post trip or at least a walk around when you parked it, you wouldn’t get a surprise like you did.

I see what happened with the railroad workers- big retroactive raise, paid leave,etc. If OTR truckers would unite and demand a better deal or park their rigs the shippers would change their tune.

You are very reliant on a brokers in the U.S whereas in the U.K. we have Agencies where the Driver sign on to the Agency who deal with the Companies if you are an owner Driver, they will over you a job.

Pretty cool coffee maker Jessie likes it. She drinks those kinds of flavor's and I drink Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate each morning when I wake up I ain't a coffee person. The kids they get mom's coffee ready for her when she comes out of the bedroom and sue hands me my mug of Hot Chocolate and I get ready for the day texting back and forth with Jackie Boss Lady in the days event's and then head to work and go down the list of what vehicles are going to be worked on with the Mechanic's and loads with the driver's. Usly doing errands running around getting parts for the mechanic. Shop kid has to take time off work (it's all good surgery done on his foot. He had 2 moles between his toes and he had them removed and he's happy. He can't put pressure on his toes yet but can stand in his foot. It's always good to have a extra trailer just in case. Jessie just said that she figured there would be presents under the tree. There's a few presents under the tree and the kids are like which one is ours. We have numbers on each present and there's 2 under the tree that's Jessie's and she's like who wrapped them cause I can't wrap good. I said Justin's gf wrapped them.
