I agree with Adrienne. So I had a onesie gender reveal party and asked the guest to wear a onesie. My family showed up in onesies, all of my in laws and their kids showed up in regular clothes and had the nerve to taunt me. They stopped getting invited to our theme parties, my husband even wore one and was upset with them too, like they didn't come through for him either. But in on the flip side. I've been invited to tutu and lingerie superhero etc party and I'll be the only one in costume. So at the lingerie party they had on pajamas sets and at the tutu party they had on sweats and jeans and at the superhero party they had on regular clothes. I haven't found my costume party tribe but when I do, I'm ready for them.

I feel you Adrienne! It's so disheartening when people can't just put themselves aside for a single 👏🏽 night👏🏽 to support your work. Party planning is work! For those complaining saying that it costs money to buy an outfit/costume, please simply decline. Hosting a party/event can be expensive as well. Paying for food/caterer, drinks/bartender, and reservations for a venue, etc can be very expensive. The least one can do is follow instructions. If it's too complicated for you, please let the host know you cannot make it.

I think the best parties are those that are themed… whether it be an all white party or a party where its like a celebration of love and u dress up as power couples ! Adrienne’s Selena Themed Party was actually really was cute ! Like those who take one for the team and actually play the part help make the party a better experience !

I have to weigh in on on the single mom's topic. I'm not a mom and I don't want to be BUT I read an interesting post on Reddit that has been stuck on my mind for a while. The post said that ALL people should ask themselves if they are ready to be single parents before they have kids because you never know what will happen with your partner. The topic came up when a married woman who was 26 with 3 kids was suddenly abandoned by her husband. She didn't know what to do. And the situation could easily be reversed too. What if the mother leaves the dad alone? Everyone (regardless of gender) who wants to have a child needs to acknowledge and prepare for the worst case scenario. What if your partner leaves? What if they are mentally or physically incapacitated? What if they are suddenly not able to provide financial support? What if they die? No one wants to think about that but it does happen. And also, equally important, if something happens to YOU, who are you leaving your child with? We never assume that two people will split up or one of them will no longer be able to take of the child but we have millions and millions of examples of those very things happening. Most single parents did not start off single. So in summary, if you want to have a child, I think its 1000% valid to be ready to do it alone, even if you trust and love your partner, because so many things in this life are outside of our control.

Definitely with Adrienne on the themed party event. I hosted a costume party once and not only did a guest not dress up, they acted like they didn’t want to be there. Like, if you’re going to not be in theme and be a debbie downer, stay home 😩

Now y’all know dayum well Ade is the queen of theme parties!! Her events look bomb and very well executed. So I’m with her if you are not going to follow the theme then just decline. I think showing up without giving the hostess a heads up to see if it’s ok is disrespectful AF. Again I’m not always trying to wear this or that but then I politely decline. OMG!! The second Topic Takeover about having children on your own was speaking to me!! I always saw myself as a wife and mother to 3-5 children all here by 35. I am now 34 and super single. I told myself that if I never end up married or with anyone I would do it alone and have been preparing my village already. I agree that if you want to do it alone and you have the means and support go ahead. I also agree that it won't be easy, but if you are doing it alone then you probably already know how difficult it will be.

I was invited to a themed birthday event last year. As a new Mom with a post-partum body and knowing I needed to pump (breastmilk) while I was away, it was overwhelming to find an outfit in a short time that could fit and would be easy to pump in. My friend told me to come anyway, but I didn’t wanna ruin her pictures and them by being the one friend not properly dressed. When she released the (professional) photos and video from the event, I’m glad I wasn’t there. Her aesthetic was giving! I would’ve embarrassed myself with evidence lol.

I’m with A. Ppl can be completely inconsiderate. Then don’t come!!! Loni has proven herself to be very inconsiderate in a lot of areas. Breaking glasses in a home and replacing it months down the line as a “ gift”. Being flirtatious with other women’s husbands, now she won’t even simply put in the effort to follow a color theme for a party. 🤦🏾‍♀️

A few years ago I hosted a Onesie Party at my house for me and my closest friends. EVERYONE showed up in costume & it was a fantastic night!!! We even had a food fight!! Lit As F 🔥❤

I agree with Ade! Also sometimes I do get stressed about what to wear to certain themed parties....but then I ask the host what options work for the theme that still make me feel comfortable. There's a way to do it without being a downer and rude!

I’m single and entering my 30s and really thinking ahead about my options. I want children but I am not going to rush into a relationship. I am not near the age that I would have a geriatric pregnancy but I don’t think it’s ever too early to have the real conversations with yourself about what you would do “if”. There is an entire movement of single mothers by choice that are financially stable.

If I had the energy to maintain keeping up a certain body image I would go crazy 😂 not because it’s bad but because it becomes a chore and less about meeting a goal ! Don’t overwork yourself ! We are human and can push ourselves to our limits ! But don’t overstimulate cuz what happens is if you overstimulate your body shuts down after a certain time when it’s not use to certain things happening that don’t usually happen and that’s my worry !

Let me tell you something if you got the funds and can afford to not have to be at a 9-5 and can dedicate your time to being a single parent then do what you want! It takes your time and money to raise a child, so if you got that I think you should do what you want! Man or women!

I think if your theme is out of the scope of most people’s regular closet, then you should be fine with people coming out of theme because not everyone has the money to be able to go out and buy an outfit specifically for your party. And then you, as the host, can have like some small trinkets available that they can put on so they can feel like they’re participating in theme. Edit* If you wanna be a stickler about your theme and make it not accessible to a portion of your guest list, don’t be mad when people don’t come and then don’t get mad when they stop inviting you because you’re throwing parties you know damn well several of your friends can’t attend.

I LLOOOOVVVVEEEEEEE A THEME PARTY!!! I had a toga party for my 50th birthday party and it was a BLAST!! And I was so happy and surprised how much people took to it, and had fun with it! And the few people who didn't dress in togas stuck out like sore thumbs! It was so cool to see the ingenuity, the originality of people's costumes-- it was absolutely fabulous and incredibly fun!! 🤩🤩 That was my 50th birthday party. A few years before my hubby wanted a 70's party for his 50th and again-- such a blast!! Super fun and people went all out!! 😂🤣😅😆 Platforms, bell bottom pants, leisure suits, flower power-- what can I say-- I guess we have the funnest group of friends in the world!! And we're all Christians so we served no booze at the party-- no diss to folks who drink, we just didn't want to be responsible for any drunk driving. Still Super fun!! Good food, great music and great friends equals a great party!! 🥳🥳🎉🎉🎈🎈PS-- a friend who brought a date to the party who we'd never met, said it was one of the best parties he'd ever attended! He danced and ate so much, it was so funny! She said he told his male friends that he definitely wanted to hang with her crew again! 😁😁

So theme parties are cool, but if it is a special theme, give people a good amount of time to find their outfit. Like my friend invited me to a party which wasn't theme at first but then tells me about an hour before it started it was a 70s party...I don't own anything 70sish, but couldn't back out because I was bringing a lot of the food and drinks. Ugh she was so mad that I showed up in regular nice clothes. To this day she still brings it up.
