Millennials might go technically back to the 80s, but I feel like most of what you're talking about are for people born 1995 and after.
@migga86
@migga86 4 жыл бұрын
"Millennials" aren't a homogenous group. The only thing most of them have in common is the fact, that they didn't experience any kind of war situation close to home. Even those growing up in the 70s-80s have at least experienced the cold war - a constant threat by a tangible force. Even the not as easily tangible threat of terrorism isn't the same as having a war near your home. Europe hasn't had a peaceful span of time this long since the invention of the word "war". Everything else differs by social environment for the "Millennialls". This is of course only true to USA, Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Eastern Europe had the remnants of the communist times to work up against and South Eastern Europe even had an all-out war in the 1990s. Africa in general had the remnants of the colony times which left even bigger problems behind and a lot of civil wars. The Middle East has been in a constant war-like situation because of the aftermath of World War II. Children from Japan in that time frame also evolved differently because their country knew what an atom bomb drop feels like. Also their daily commute is highly organized. So there's why the other areas have different histories and things in common attached to them. I guess you will not be able to put all of them together into one group based on the huge difference in upbringings. To be honest, I've only been to 7 countries in my life but the vast differences can be seen throughout Europe already. We'll see a global change in the following years when gender identities further diversify. Some regions will go faster than others, but none will stand still. As one of my former work collegues said "I sexually identify as a battle helicopter.". He said it out of mock, but it might become truth to others in the years to come. It would be fun to see the toilet signs though: "Men, Objectsexuals and Battle Helicopters" to the left, "Women, Bowling Balls and Pancakes" to the right. "Why do you identify yourself as a Bowling Ball?" - "That's just how I roll." What will define the following years is that climate change will be a topic everywhere. Although I'm not even sure if that will impact as it should. There are still too many people travelling around the world for touristic purposes. If you take a Germany -> New Zealand -> Germany tour by plane, you leave an ecological footprint of driving a petrol-based car 50km to work for 1 year. But it only takes you 1 to 2 days to make that imprint by plane - and you still have to get to work somehow for the remaining 49 weeks. Of course you'll be driving around there even more than you do on work days near home, so that will add another 5-10% to your carbon footprint. A roundtrip to Hawaii if you start it from Los Angeles takes about one quarter of a year of car driving as an equivalent. We'll probably look back at the whole time from 80s to 2020s and say that this was the phase of the "homo mobilus" (or in generation terms: Mobile Generation), when man was able to drive and fly around the world unburdened by thought or morals. The next generation might be called "homo domus" as in "Man staying at home" (or in generation terms: Home Generation). Back in the years when ships were the only way to transport stuff and people from China to the rest of the world, a disease like we battle today wouldn't have had the chance to branch too far out. The ships took 3-6 weeks to arrive since they had to go all the way around Africa. We increased the speed of spread by having people fly over from any point of the world to any other in less than two days.

People always seem to equate millennials with being super young but most are 25 to late 30’s with careers and families. The real youth now (teens to early twenties) are the zoomers. It won’t be long until the next gen takes over from them. But they will probably still be calling millennials the crazy youth of today 😂

Millennials are Gen Y, born ~1984-1995, and recall life without computers, the turn of the millennium (such as the rumors about all the computers not being able to handle changing from 1999 to 2000 and that the Aztec calendar might be right about the world ending as a result), and the events of September 11, 2001 (generally in stark detail). The next generation is Gen Z, a people who never knew life before cell phones, and many of them started their cell phone journey with a smart phone. Penn and Kim are at least as close to being millennials as Bianca is. Bianca is Gen Z; she's older Gen Z, but she's def Gen Z.

Some people say it goes through 2003/2004 because the kids of 2005 and after are so much different because the kids of the early 2000s didnt have all that technology like gen z we had/did most of the things that kids in the 90s had/did

I absolutely love you Kim, I love you and Pen are of my generation!! It’s hilarious, when I was young I’d see cool clothes like neon and my mom said it’s not new, now my 25 year old daughter says something is new and I get to say not new we had it, so fashion comes around in a circle..!

How old is your niece? She has to be on the Gen Z end of the Millennial generation. I was born in 1983, and the only phrases I recognize are "spill the tea" and "it's lit". My baby sister is the one who photographs her food, and she's 8 years younger than me. Almost none of this video describes my experience as a young adult, and there's no way I'd be caught dead in mom jeans or acid wash. Why is Gen Z bringing back the worst fashion from my 80s and 90s childhood/high school experience? This is why I'm a proponent of being labeled as a Xennial or Oregon Trail Generation. There's a world of difference there. All that said, I really do love your channel!

This is more GenZ than millennial but it was still a fun experiment. I’m a millennial and didn’t really relate to most of this. The kids coming out of the high school classes my hubby teaches talk like this though. 😃

I Think Being a Decent Millennial Consists of These 3 Things: 1.Nostalgia 2.Self Awareness 3.Wearing Whatever You Think Looks Good on You Despite Whatever Gender It’s Supposed to be Meant For Originally FYI I Love Penny’s Shirt,&,I Would Totally 100% Wear it Myself,I’m a Woman
