I loved Gen V. Emma and Jordan were the standouts imo but they were ALL so realistically damaged and flawed that it was more relatable than The Boys

@rosekt2023 different strokes lol I hated Cate but the show still rocked. And Emma just wanted to fit in and kept putting her foot in her mouth hoping to please everyone. Her growth was one of my favorite parts of the season...

@@rosekt2023heavily disagree. Emma and Jordan have the most intriguing personalities and were enjoyable to watch, where Andre was…boring, to put it lightly. Cate was cool but idk how much I like her character, not very relatable. Marie is a great main character though, and you feel for her. I personally think Emma and Jordan have stories that people can connect with and see themselves in.

I agree, @purplepeopleeater8393 I felt like Jordan's story was so rich, and their character was so complex, with themes of arrogance, ambition, and an arc about becoming a hero instead if cosplaying as one. I love how cheeky Jordan can be and their dynamic with Marie. I also love Marie's friendship with Emma.

@@shainaelise2694 yes to all of this! Jordan was simply far more engaging, as was Emma. I too love Jordan and Marie! I think some people saw it as “out of left field,” but you can tell there’s tension from the start. I only wish the seasons were longer so we’d get more of each of their stories :/

cate’s mother never touched her again after the accident with her brother and shetty offered her physical affection and a motherly role model, all in order to manipulate cate into doing what she wants. cate is such a tragic and well written character

I love The Boys so much but I really do like Gen V a bit better. The younger cast for this show is more relatable than some of the cast from The Boys. But both shows will now and always have a special place in my heart. Everyone involved in both shows did an absolute Stellar job! I'm so glad you enjoyed this show, ily both❤✨️

I was super impressed how early on you clocked that Emma's powers were tied to her emotional state, not simply the physical act of purging. When Sam dresses her down in the Acting 101 Stage, he makes Emma feel "Small" emotionally and because she cared for him so much, it really affected her. Such that she was able to control her power without needing to purge/consume food.

I automatically went to see if you had reactions to The Dead Boy Detectives anywhere... please do that one. It's comic-based and in The Sandman universe, but The Sandman isn't required. DBD is basically the GenV to Sandman's The Boys - a few cameos, but a completely different tone and younger cast/audience. Also very LGBTQ+. As for this one - Jordan's my favorite. As someone who worked in a college environment while in college, the hate Jordan gets in ep 1 is sad. As a TA, they were given a job of weeding through eligible applicants to the program and picking the best candidates to fill limited slots based on a set of criteria given to them by their boss. Turning down Marie wasn't personal, it was literally their job. To the contrary, Jordan didn't have to take the time to explain anything to Marie and was trying to anyway. And Jordan's whole attitude was in response to Marie questioning their professionalism, not listening and trying to go over their head. People are also quick to call Jordan selfish, but if we look at actions objectively instead of through the lense of the protagonist... Jordan stepped in and saved Marie when push came to shove, both actually in ep1 and attempted, when Rufus took her. In similar but less immediately dire situations in the early episodes, Marie always chose to distance herself from the other characters. I don't actually blame Marie or her decisions, either, but I'll die on the hill that both self-advocate but Marie is the more selfish one. That said, I actually did see Jordan liking Marie right from episode one, at the club when Andre brought up Marie and Jordan responded by giving her kind of side-eye and saying something along the line of "yeah, she's... cool" with a definite pause. Given that, every other interactuon definitely can look more flirty, even as they were obviously struggling with the fact that Marie had become an issue for them professionally.

I enjoyed your reaction🥰i was kind of sad that they're probably not gonna go to school route anymore cause that's what I was really looking forward to cause even if they get a good public opinion there's always gonna be some doubt, so I don't know if there ever going back to school. I also thought that the ultimate goal should be to make a new better hero company that's not corrupt what's better than a new generation taking lead. Honestly hope to see Jordan more in season two and they don't get killed off and him having a good relationship with Marie, I don't want them to break up too soon. honestly, they could play it off that Andre had a sibling since they kept saying family like there were more members of it but theirs only two in the family so that didn't make sense to me and hopefully, they can keep the same magneto power in the show . but it's a touchy subject it'll be weird to do anything without disrupting chance image it's truly sad☹

1:00:25 yeah, the show really sticks the landing when it shows EXACTLY what kind of parent would subject their children to an untested drug for unknown roll of the dice superpowers ... They all fucking suck in one way or another... The super empathetic parent who cares very deeply about their child probably wouldn't do that shit to their kid. So yeah I think they write the parents roles very intentionally in this show and The Boys and shows that they're ALL fucking shitty people for what they did to their kid. Even the ones that put up the veneer of caring.

Tween crush Soldier Boy in Cate's mind was hilarious. Other than Soldier Boy, I only ever know that actor as the beefcake sheriff to hot deputy Katherine Winnick in "Big Sky." He was also quite good in that role. Was surprised to see the Opossom-tailed girl feign shock at supe on supe violence in a college for supes. Any time you get a bunch of college-aged kids in a microcosm community there will be the occasional fight break out amongst the lot of them. Part of the human experience.

So just like they built a giant prosthetic peephole for Termite to crawl thru in Season 3, they built a giant prosthetic penis and balls for Emma to ride on. They also built a giant ear for her to crawl out of covered in that guy's brain and blood. I truly love their commitment to practical effects on this show. It's like doing all that work to build these things for a scene that may only be like 20 seconds long is hilarious to me.
