On the 1st episode of Car Trek 9, AutoTempest challenges the guys to find 3 of the best rebuilt exotic cars for less money than a new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 costs. Tyler gets flashy and brings a Ferrari 458 Spider that's missing a few things, Ed chooses a nearly perfect Audi R8 V10+ & tries not to fall asleep, & Freddy brings his SEMA show car McLaren 675LT, which may end up being too expensive and too fast for these challenges. They are then shown to Car Wizard for inspection before proving themselves on a real, actual track.

People don't realise how fast that car is, it's got more engine power than a p1 and they have a top speed in the 240s unrestricted (the electric motors don't help the top speed just the acceleration) so Freddies car should be similar

Having gone through turn 5 at Thunderhill hundreds of times, I really laughed when Tavarish sent a 200k car flying over the crest. Future tip: At any track, first lap is sighting, you take it slow and find out where it goes. No need for sighing lap, let's go full send over a blind cresting turn. lol

I've only done the bypass and that was scary enough. There's 3-4 turns on the East track that are blind.

@@Lucky008aau Scary is turn one at laguna seca on a bike going 130. Uphill, off camber cresting hill, narrowing barriers and the fastest part of the course. :)

I find it really hard to believe this wasn't a planned stunt. Notice how only the two cars with already beat up under carriages were the only two that did it. Conveniently the pristine mint audi did not. Doesn't fit their m.o. for ed to ride with hoovie and not be in his own car. It's just not logical, any human on earth going to a new track is going to play it in a video game first, or at the least watch 20 laps on KZfaq before getting to the track... And even after that you are going to take the blind crest (and every corner) very easy first few laps. it's just acting. Find a dramatic but ultimately super safe spot to go off to make good content.

@@robertstahl8835 Not sure, the back side of that hill is rocking and bumpy and would f*** up any car. Fixed or not that is an expensive car with a very pricey tub. Can't image anyone saying, lets take the most expensive car here and send it over a cliff. Unless you know it's there, turn 5 is very deceptive, you would not expect a drop off like that. Plus its not like it was a trackday with a drivers meeting. They rented the track and get to use it however they want, you noticed no corner works. Yes, I believe there are bad drivers on tracks, seen enough of them to know. I think he just went full send not thinking bottom will drop out.

Freddie’s 675lt is my personal favourite out of the bunch. It’s got the best story, and every detail in that car has a reason, from the gold plated engine bay, to the F1 seats, to the colour scheme, it’s just a gorgeous car.

Laguna Seca with the corkscrew corner such good times. I remember ramming an old 67 stingray off the side of the track and into the tires then it got air born up to that point I never knew cars could get 20 feet off the ground.

Tavarish is a lazy bum for bending Car Treks rules into absurdity, by bringing his old McLaren to the Car Trek challenge as a lazy afterthought, and reaching hard to squeeze it into this series main given parameter, around alternative vehicles the list price of a new ZO6’s. Freddy’s half measured presence is so increasingly insulting to the audience, that there is little reason to even watch this latest Car Trek series? Tyler and Ed are both inarguably busily active in uploading to their respective channels on KZfaq, and yet they still somehow managed the efforts to source new vehicles for Car Trek. Whatever Freddy’s long running absent, tardy real life pressures are, have undeniably bled over onto Car Trek, and effectuated Jared’s recent rebranding of the Wrench Everyday channel. If Tavarish doesn’t put forth the efforts, he doesn’t deserve to even have the Car Trek series on his channel, eventually Freddy should be replaced on Car Trek by a more actively engaged dedicated automotive KZfaqr?

Well, Ed and Tyler were pretty much dead on for the values of their cars, though the mileage and history on Hovies might bring his price down a bit. Tavarish might get $325K with a salvage title, but I would bet less! Lots of fun guys! Thanks.

Love all the cars but the 458 is hands down my favorite. Not a fan of the red interior but put a nice exhaust on it and 👌🏼. I've heard a straight piped one in person and it was insane.

@@BeardedGamerUK TGT wasnt as good as TG on his peak - like the vietnam special. The biggest difference between those 2 (TG / Car Trek) is that Clarkson, Hammond and May didnt feel as scripted and more natural as those 3 do. But they are getting there, improve every season.

it's interesting to see this challenge of "budget supercars" that top gear did almost a decade ago being recreated, with hammond's 458, Clarkson's Mclaren (mp4-12c) and James's 458. The car choices are almost exact with variation in generation and model line!!

I am terrified of going more than 50% at a track for without doing at least 5 laps. Even then i slowly ramp up. I cannot believe he would go all out the first time on a track, in a car he loves that took him so much time to rebuild.
