When parking the fork truck, don’t lower the forks flat to the floor, leave them a couple of inches raised and then tilt them slightly forward until the end of the forks just touch the ground. 👍

Evening Tim. Re fork lift. Your luck is in . I drove one of these buggers in the 80's. Someone /you must be sitting in the driving seat to allow the truck to start. There will be a microswitch or contact switch to allow you to start the machine. The handbrake lever is also a safety feature. It must be on when the truck is ticking over. Best to have it on when you are lifting anything. The black knob with the white dot was what they called a strangler. Pull it up and hold it up till the engine cut out. It may not work now because they upgraded the one i drove to a simple on of switch like the one you used in the clip. Finally i noticed the tyres look like solid rubber tyres if they are they are not much cop in the wet (no Grip). That's it for now. Later..Lancerlot.for the fork lift.

Good to know. The engine pull kill switch is down below seat so maybe it’s replaced the dash one. Did a great job unloading pallets of a lorry yesterday and new brakes are reassuring too. Pretty sure it will be worth having around for the next year or two even if he is a ‘character’ to start. They are all pneumatic tyres which was one reason I thought it would manage rougher ground. Not that much grip but just a case of being sensible on where not to go!

Looks like a decent machine. They're so handy and easy to use but forklifts are also very accident prone machines if you let your guard down, so make sure everyone stays safe on and around it!

My only tip for forklifts on gravel surfaces, try to avoid getting into the practice of pre-steering the rears when you’re not moving… Its very handy for tight manuevering on concrete or tarmac, but it’s way to easy for those steer tires to dig holes, which can with low-clearance machines get you stuck, particularly if the ground is soft or loose.

The hydraulic tank cap is probably just a replacement but the dipstick does look a little short, almost the length of the filler tube so maybe not the right one. I'll take a guess from looking at the video that the minimum mark on the dipstick will even be too full. You need room in the tank to accommodate the oil volume in the hydraulic cylinders cycling the oil back to the tank. I think someone has overfilled it then when you cycled the cylinders it spilled through the vent on the oil cap. I'd aim to keep the oil level at the very lowest point of that dipstick and you'll be fine. 👍
@matthewwakeham2206
@matthewwakeham2206 3 ай бұрын
The glow plugs are the other side from where you were looking. One for each cylinder and they've got a strip of metal bolted along the top giving the positive connection (wire on one end). The oil tank needs maybe an inch of space at the top of the tank (not the filler) to allow for expansion when hot.

I can see holes in the roof soon, You should have gone for a forklift with free, or unrestricted lift: the forks go right to the top of the mast section befor the next mast goes up. You have a restricted lift where the mast raises as well as the forks. Not a good thing if under cover. I know it costs more but I think you would have gotten more out of a front loader/telehandler.
@svlamancha9877
@svlamancha9877 3 ай бұрын
The shiny cap also acts as a vent for the oil tank to allow air in and out as the oil level changes so it would allow excess oil to flow out the cap👍

There is actually a reason for two foot brakes, they both have a different function - one is a brake pedal and the other is a clutch brake. You push the clutch brake while lifting a load to increase the rpm of the hydraulic pump by pressing on the fuel pedal and lifting at the same time. This disengages drive gear and you raise rpm to speed up the lifting speed.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 3 ай бұрын
I have that on the dumper but it appeared both brake pedals on the forklift are joined and only go down together. I’ve just been putting drive to neutral to rev the fork speed up when needed.

Just a thought… do farm/construction plant machines need to comply to any Health & Safety requirements, and what effect does that have on any insurance? We looked at getting an old crane for the boatyard but it wouldn’t pass any modern safety requirements ie. Load and tilt alarms etc which meant we would not be covered by any public liability insurance and we could also be open to a host of legal claims in case of injury etc. Wouldn’t spending more on a tele-lift or mini-handler the smaller version of the tele-handler be more suitable as they will be fitted with upto date safety features and would be more stable in a farm/construction environment. You could always sell the machine after the construction is complete to get your investment back?

If it’s the same as my little tractor - then those heater plugs fail - and they are cheap. So check you are getting your 12v when they key is in that position, if it is I’d just swap it out. They glow like a cigarette lighter, then at a certain temperature open a valve which lets the diesel in and ignites it.

That truck is a 7 ton lift. The model number tells you. The D is for diesel. I forget what the M means. I believe they were made in the 70's. If you find the data plate it should tell you. Looks like it could be under the drivers seat in the foot well. :ancerboss was bought out by Jungheinrich at some point in the 90's.

@rayletaxi
@rayletaxi 3 ай бұрын
That's ok saying it's a 3.5 ton lift. But don't forget that's at a given load centre. And also only to a certain height. Capacity also depends on the forks fitted. As always with a forklift, lift as little as you have to to as little height you need for as short a time as possible. And always leave them with the forks properly on the floor. Make sure your happy with it's supposed capacity then half it due to its age
