The home is in a nostalgic neighborhood for you, Matt. And I love that Ang loved it too and felt so at home there. What brought tears was how you both said how wonderful the neighbors were and how they lined up to greet your family and welcomed you. It will be lovely and homey and charming and will bring you both and Kenny ( and your family and friends) wonderful warm memories.

@Angela Lanter Well, my eyes were glued to the screen. I found this reaction video so interesting. Oh yes, the house has a late 60's and 70's vibe to it, especially the carpet. The front and backyard look so gorgeous, with the trees. Wow, about the huge basement and guys, yup, lots of work ahead for the both of you. I don't know anything about renovation but I can't wait to see how you guys transform this house. My parents red brick home is 56 years old and I am with them, caring for them. Let me put it this way, nothing has changed in the house since 1967, light brown 60's/70's carpet, light pink bath and tiles, with light blue walls, velvet like brownish/reddish wallpaper.... I love the idea of keeping God Bless Our Home. I am sure a little modern touch to it will make it stand out nicely.

Congrats on the house. I grew up in a 1970s house my old bedroom still has shag carpet and i remember all the dark wood paneling in the basement and old appliances. My mom still has the same fridge that works. The avacado green was a popular colour for gifting things when my parents got married. She has an avocado green blender. 😆

Our house was all boxes too! The best thing we did was open it all up (obviously took care of the load bearing wall), including the entrance to the basement. Open stairs there make the room look so much bigger. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!

Can’t wait to see what you do with the house. When we bought our house we had avocado appliances in the kitchen 🤢. We now have all new appliances, light fixtures, and painted the kitchen.

Check out, Our Restoration Nation. A husband and wife restore old houses. They have videos where they have had to replace floor joists. They are good about answering any questions others have about doing work on homes. (If you come across the wife working in a gown and tierra, it is because she was scolded for wearing tacky clothes. She made several reels/clips of her in a gown and tierra as a snarky/petty reply. Too funny seeing her try to drop through the open floor to do work on the joists and underside of the house.) Also check out, East Coast DIY / East Coast Florida DIY (Cori). Another husband and wife who renovate homes. The wife did a lot of the work on their home while her husband was deployed. She surprised him with what she had done when he got back.

Any particular reason you chose an old house that needs a lot done compared to building from scratch?

I sure hope Matt doesn't force choke the realtor for their... oversight.

"Small house. 2000 square feet." Duuuude. That is not a small house 😂 an average house is considered small at sub 1000 sq ft. 1600-2000 is usually considered pretty sizeable. But also makes a difference if a house has a basement. Good luck with the project! This is neat to see
