Possibly use a sprue extender along with everything else That just massive I bought a baby brush hog mold cheap and I found out just like you did why it was so cheap and yes I learned that day how much I appreciate molds from companies like Enforcer and A.I That just make molds right.

Pretty sure they went thicker to prevent warping. Aluminum is quite a heat conductor, and professor google says it can warp at 400 degrees. With those cavities hogged out, I'll bet someone shot a prototype mold full of 370 degree plastisol....voila...a bit of warping and a lot of flashing.

I had an issue with a very similar mold setup.. it’s a 6 cavity fat senko single port mold. Found that the air escape lines that were running from cavity to the next was pushing air pockets in the baits that were poured. I end up shooting every other port.

So I just bought my first mold, it is a Do it molds ES Crappie fluke, and was wondering what dead on plastix blend would be good. It’s a 2.5” bait, and I’m wanting to drop shot it for smallmouth. What would be a good blend that gives action but also has decent durability? Thanks

As Chris mentioned swim bait blend would be as soft as I would go. I find myself mostly using tube/crawl on everything. I have seen some of my smallest lures last 20-40 catches on tube blend. The fish teeth will tear them up over time. 🤘

I had issue with top port molds. And I had to skip every other one. Seems like the vents are tied together air pushing air from the adjacent cavity. Skip every other one and come back and hit the others. So hope they have solidified where u can’t push air through the hot liquid plastisol vs sold forcing air through the proper vents just my two cent

Looking at the venting, would it help if you shot from the inside out? Like start in the middle and work outwards letting the air escape better?

I've got a custom mold. It's a top injection. The mold filled out completely, however the mold has a narrow gate, resulting in the head of the bait to have air bubbles. I solved this problem by using sprue extenders from another company. The ports were close together, so I had to shoot every other port and come back to the others. The problem is solved and shoots an awesome bait.

Would adding vibrations or tapping it while pouring help stop the denting and air pockets or would that cause more air bubbles and problems?

In my experience no, plastic viscosity won't really work it sets up pretty fast

Red.blue.yellow.white.black. this will give you other colors by mixing. Get a color wheel.

Dip your car has smaller sample sizes but they are still expensive. And the sample sizes are typically more than any hobby maker will need.

That is a big mold!! From watching your other videos this may be just suited with hand pouring instead of injection mold. Just my 2 cents. Your creations are incredible!!

So I'm looking at getting into bait making and I want to know what you do with your injector if you want to change color, if you only have one injector. Do you have to clean the injector out completely and then use your second color? Please answer I'm honestly kinda worried about this part.

As long as you don't have any plastic left over in your injector. No don't have to clean it. Just keep o-rings lubed

You can take out just the top fluke and shoot one fluke in the AI mold to use up remaining plastic

we have a mold that takes 22oz..Maybe your 24oz injector will work for it. haha For the gate issue, clamp the mold together, use a drill it that is a little larger than gate and drill to make it bigger.

@@WorldsWorstFishing Also, we have a top injection mold that gives a lot of bubbles. We fixed the problem by injecting very slow. I mean, VERY Slow. solved the bubble problem 100% for us.

Might need to add some "collars" on top of mold so you have deeper top off. The tails are filling so the venting must be OK.

Take it to a machine shop and have them run more venting. The vents running same direction as sprue go deeper on those.

I suspect you are getting cavitation in the gate. My idea would be keep mold HOT but slow down the injection with plastic at your normal or slightly below normal temp.

I don't even know why you would want a top injection fluke mold. Batch spru style ones laminate just fine because of their shape and you don't lose much more plastic to a single runner than you would to all those little ports. Seems like something a no bigger mold company would really do. Hook slot was cool though.

I think the problem is the hookslot. The ridges hold air more than a smooth hookslot. The air then floats to the surface and gets stuck due to the cooling of the plastisol. Also, have you thought of weighing the mold halves separately 😉

Well the 2 have maybe the same plate thickness karma but one has a lot more aluminum cut out than the other.. I believe it is the gates that are the problem

Cool mold but the issue is the sprue needs to be bigger and the mold is way too thick. Gets the temp off in the plastic

My molds the warmer the better. Just a suggestion. Also had to use a med/hard plastisol. Just a suggestion on my end. Your the King of hand injection.

thats an ukranian mold , not gana bash the campany but the issue is vents and vents , its not machined right and when they test is they use a lot of presure and extreamy hot plastisol . had same issue with all my custom Ukrainian molds
