In today's video, we're revealing our NEW F30!!! That's right, we got a 2013 BMW F30 328i with the N26! This beauty has 140,000 miles and looks pretty good! Only one problem... It has the dreaded timing chain issue, which leaves us with a bad motor... We'll take a look at it over the next few days and see if there's any hope of saving it or maybe we'll just motor swap it with something fun :)

Your 330i is much better Justin😎 This has 4cyl 2l engine, if you want a f30, you need to go for a 335i, anything less is a downgrade from your current car. Got to have that straight 6 my dude👌

It would be cool if you did the timing chain replacement. I know its not just the chain for you since it broke all the other components but it would be nice for us mechanically inclined that would like to save a buck and get this problem off our backs.

You need special tools to do the job, not to mention the specific tolerances and all the different procedures that need to be followed during the process. Definitely not DIY friendly whatsoever.

Even if they replace that there is metal in the engine. If it's the timing chain issue the engine is done.

A lot of guys have youtube videos of doing it to 320d (e90 f30 etc). I think its similar job. Just different parts and special tools.

Definitely need to swap it for a B58 if possible. No point in simply replacing it with another N26 if you don’t absolutely have to

On the N26 engine some parts have warranty for up to 15 years/150k miles. It’s covered under the SULEV warranty.

zaid osama i have a 2014 328i F30. runs perfect, no problems with the timing chain . only at 51k miles . has custom M performance exhaust with stage 1 tuning . still runs great as a 400hp daily

I have a 2014 320i xdrive with the n20 engine with about 78k miles. Bought brand new from the bmw dealer i work at. Have been wanting to do a couple mods to it. Mainly want to either tune or put a chip in it and an exhaust. Love the car. Its my third bmw. First car was a 77 320i and had a e46 325xi sedan.

The same thing happened to my car when you start it but the problem was solved by changing the intercooler and cleaning the gas pottle plate

BEEMZ we dont like diesel cars, mostly because we dont have to worry about mileage, because Gas is dirt cheap.

Hey brian it would be very helpfull if you could do maintenance videos or solve the problems a video at a time with the 328i so we dont got to pay an arm and a leg for someone else to fix it that doesn't care as much about your car as you do and we can do it cheaper ourselves

You should get an f30 with the n13, heard you cand get 240hp from the 1.6 and the engine is a bit shorter so it ends up after the center of the front wheels, by just a little bit.

Did you get the touring version ? Cabriolet ? I think this car had its front right (passenger) door and wing changed/replaced/re-painted... the color dont match with the rest... Adjustment valve timing motor may need to be replaced....

the paint shade of the front right passenger door is not matching up with the rear. Looks like there was a damage of some kind. But for the price - no complain.

T Ng yep 👍🏼 I said the same thing. Looks like it’s been hit at least 3 times. Rear bumper is super off also.

Pop cylinder head cover and check intake camshaft bearing cap, see any score mark if so need a new motor. If not replace timing chain and oil sump although, probably it’s already stressed bearing caps which need a new motor.

I have a 2016, I've put on 30 k miles in 18 months, had the same oil leak, other than that some ac issues but no mechanical.looking forward to this build

The front bumper is not stock. It comes from a base model ('Lounge' in Europe). Luxury front bumpers have chrome above the foglights.

I though my f30 was cheap. Haha $1800 is in the totalled car price range. This just shows the importance of regular maintenance. That car was almost driven into the ground by 140k miles. These cars can last a lot longer than that if taken care of. My 335i is at 179k miles and running strong. Best of luck to you!

Bought a 2015 F30 328i xdrive about 2 months ago and the biggest thing I have noticed is it gets terrible gas mileage (20 mpg) combined city/highway.

Did a timing chain on my F30, took almost a month waiting on parts and trying to figure it out. Do not recommend but at least my car runs lol.

A late response, but no not really (if at all). Diesel isn't popular because gas/petrol is so cheap so it's not really a discussion peint. FYI, I'm not American but I drive an F30 330dX! This and the 335d cars are underrated, as you say. Great 0-60 times considering they're diesel and great mpg too.

My 2013 328i xdrive has 143k miles and finally has low oil pressure warning lights. If I keep driving it I know it will eventually have a catastrophic failure. The cars aren’t worth $1k dollars once they cross 120k miles. Car max offered me 4K for it....but I want to do a diesel or v8 swap once the engine fails.

Good deal, looks like it’s definitely been hit in the rear as the paint match is super bad. Also the passenger door has been painted from the look of it if you didn’t notice yet. It will be interesting to see what ya can do with it.

Ha, yea, it's got funky paint on every panel.. doors don't match, that's technically not the luxury line bumper.. and this thing has been through a war! Good thing is it was super cheap, so if it blows up, it's not an issue, ha

Agreed, even a milder track build would be cool to see. A lightly modded RWD N20 with its lighter weight may be a better track car than a 335i/340i.

So Brian, do I keep my '13 N26 with 60K, in great shape (no winters), and repair the guides and chain? I've heard it's 2-3K at independent garages. Anyone else wanna weigh in? it's Sapphire Black and red leather. Still looking for a trustworthy garage.

You dont see at time 1:43 the color difference like... 50/50 different whole right side. I bet it is crashed and bad, other side at front..the trunk..Something has been tried hard to hide :D Guesses whether the body is straight? But still, it was not expensive.

Sweet deal! Front bumper has definitely been replaced. Maybe when it acquired hood damage. Luxline front bumper came with some chrome accents on lower bumper. Looks like it was swapped with a base model bumper. For $1850 who cares! 😂
