GTX $1080ti market price on eBay is about $220-$200 even after fees you’d only be looking at $140 and that’s running to the risk of being scammed. Even if you listed this system for $400 which you wouldn’t get, even on eBay, taxes and eBay fees cut about ~30% and a system like this would be at least $80 to ship for the regular person. At the very best you’d be making $230, sellers know this and I wouldn’t offer anything above $150 for this system locally. If you’re looking locally you can find these old X79-x99 systems for around $60 without gpus sometimes free if you buy something else from the seller like a first gen RTX card.

You only gave $150 for that? That person got hosed. Quick edit because people want to read in some sort of feeling toward the Toasty Bros, They run a business and need to remain profitable, I am not condemning them for paying $150, I am saying, Objectively, that person, who CHOSE to sell for that price, lost out on a lot of money, "got hosed".

@Alexander_Bahgheera whoa, I guess the comment really hit a pain point for you. I don't have any issue with them paying that for it, not at all, re read, that person objectively lost money by selling it for that. Don't know how exuberant prices on food or vehicles came into this, or you condemning the Toasty Bros, but I guess that is how you feel.

They are pretty up front with everyone that they can sell it themselves for more, but if they buy it, it has to be low enough for them to put time into it and turn it for a profit. Sometimes not having to deal with people on Facebook MarketPlace is worth not getting top dollar.

The person is like most people, they are too lazy to clean it up and sell it themselves. Pawn shops are like this too, you bring something in and you get suboptimal value for the convenience of instant cash. Everyone has a phone these days so that guy was probably just a fan who wanted to see a video on his old system, I can only speculate.

I know I'm late to this video. But as a PC seller in my local area here in the southeast as well on the Gulf Coast. I say sell for $350 with no local return to $400 with local return to both make your double profit and pay tax off this sale depending on Kentucky's tax percentaged. You could even sell for $360; $370 to $410; $420 if you throw in a cheap yet good, used 500GB HDD or 1TB HDD for extra storage. Based on good lower-to-average eBay prices, this entire PC is literally a good price at the $350 to $400 range. And with just a clean and cheap extension cables you added. Plus, y'all getting it for $150 with minimal work y'all had to put into it. It's a literal miracle sale! You get at $150. You provide minimal clean up. Sell it for double with tax write off on it. Can add extra storage of a used 500GBHDD for $10 or 1TBHDD for $20. And then both the customer gets a great sale on what literally is the price for parts. And you the seller make double the profit. I wish I made sales like these. Then everyone would be happy.

Generally speaking, you subtract 30% of what a product is worth at the time, and that is what you will buy it for. How did you guys come up with $150? That's kind of scummy only giving that person $150, when he clearly should have received at least $250-300, maybe even more. I guarantee y'all will sell that for over $450. That's not cool at all gentlemen.

The worst part is Windows 8 was actually fantastic. Where they screwed up was not having an option on install that asked "is this a PC, or a tablet?" Or "would you like a classic start menu, or a touch screen friendly one?" That would have saved them a whole lot of backlash

I feel $450 would be a fair price for the system and $300 would be a very good profit. 4th gen Intel, even the higher end ones, really are at the end of their useful life. I'd probably be tempted to replace the 1080ti with a 9 series card for a more realistic pairing and use the 1080ti in a different build. Windows 8 kind of clicked with me in a way that 7 and 10 never did. Add in the Spring and .1 updates and it was a fantastic OS. People rag on the start screen on 8 but for some reason praised the 'start menu' of 10 which was just the start screen shrunk into a window, which I'd argue made it less useable. Though in the interest of fairness I replaced both with Classic Shell for a Windows 98 style start menu. Don't forget that Windows 8 also let you maintain proper control over Windows Update. My current PC case is one I bought years ago, it's a Zalman H1 and it's a real chunky beast as well. It does have a clear acrylic side panel but no PSU basement. (edit: It's now 10 years old!)

@InvictusManeo.
@InvictusManeo. 6 ай бұрын
What gets me about these old processors is that if you didn't have MSI Afterburner showing the FPS and you were just playing the games you probably would not really feel any noticable difference in the gameplay when compared to playing on modern CPU's, only problem is when you pair them with a more modern GPU that is not being utilised fully. CPU at 95 - 99% and GPU sitting at 55 - 65% or less, 1080ti though still a solid option for the most part.
@voteDC
@voteDC 6 ай бұрын
Back when I was using an i7-4770k and a GTX 970, in Assassin's Creed Odyssey they'd be at around 90% usage each. It was one of those rare pairings that just got the best out of each other. I'd be tempted if I were the Toasty Bros to replace the 1080ti in this build with a 9 series card and put the 1080ti in something a little more capable.

i think the biggest "upgrade" to this PC would have been: a new case and an AIO (or smaller cooler). Don't think it would really be worth it at that point though. Profit margins would be lower, but it would sell significantly faster. Very few people want - or have room for a case this large. Only reason I say cooler: that cooler is far too large and it would allow you to use to top slot. just my 2 cents, RGB and appearance really sells a PC more than anything...

I think it's a tricky deal. Since the RAM is DDR3, and the CPU is a bit dated, the fact that it rocks a 1080Ti makes it a weird combo. I think a 300-350 would be reasonable as a buyer, more than that I'd prefer spending a bit more to get newer CPU. But anyway, I'd definetly try scavaging for deals in your store if i lived anywhere nearby.

The PC itself is worth maybe $300 with the Noctua cooler, Ivy Bridge-E chip and 64GB of DDR3, but the Cosmos effect is real. That case drives up the value of anything it touches. If you were to list it online anywhere, you'd instantly get people sending messages asking if they can just buy the case.

$300 seems fair. that PC is worth way more than 150. Feels like the dude who sold it got ripped off tbh.

They did not screw over anyone. They offered a price the person could have said no and just kept it and sold it themselves.
