I'm a 69 year old Episcopalian, but I like watching your videos. I also introduced my best friend, a 72 year old Catholic, to your channel. God brings people to Himself with love and compassion. And treating people with love, understanding and compassion is the best way to evangelize. BTW - Priests, monks and nuns, like all other human beings, need time to relax and enjoy things. It's good for mental and physical health!

I briefly met Fr. Casey during the MLB tour. Anyone who saw him in person could see he was definitely working. There wasn't much downtime when people weren't engaging with him about pastoral questions or things along those lines, at least in my observation. Suddenly felt moved to give him the 20 bucks in my pocket to help with gas, and I definitely don't regret it, hearing how after the whole summer his budget just broke even. Also, anyone who has done pastoral work, community organizing, counseling, etc knows that it really is exhausting work to listen and talk with people all day about difficult conversations.

Fr Casey, you were instrumental in bringing me home to the Catholic Church. I was baptized and confirmed at one of the parrishes you visited on your trip, and only missed you by a couple weeks before i began RCIA. I just want to thank you and your evangelization ministry and efforts, both online and off. You are doing fantastic work.

I met Fr Casey at the Mass held in Denver during their tour. Their community involvement and engagement was beautiful.

I have to say, this is your best work. What insight! This is what Francis was talking about getting out and “smelling like the sheep.” How many priests do I know who would RUN from these kinds of confrontations!! They are more comfortable behind the pulpit, the altar rather than HEAR what goes on out here - in our hearts. Good for you!! This was great. YOU’RE great.

Fr. Casey - You reminded me to take advantage of my small opportunity to evangelize. When I first came back from my ACTS retreat, I wore my retreat crucifix constantly and also my fisherman bracelet. Later, after my Crucillo retreat, I swapped my crucifixes frequently. I had several conversations related to my crucifix, and others who had been on retreat commented on the fisherman's bracelet. Over time, I've gotten lazy, and wear my crucifix less frequently. (Often only to mass, where I'm not talking to people who might need Christ.) I need to "man up" and start wearing it everywhere, and be open to discussing my faith with folks who comment about it. thank you!

Your questions are excellent. You go back with a different approach to really get to the root of the issue.

The ballpark tour is what brought me to this channel. There are always questions on how to get younger people back in the church or to stay in the church. In my opinion, Seeing church leaders in everyday settings is very helpful. Churches are part of a community.

Love you, Father Casey. It's so much easier to talk than to listen. Much easier to throw bombs than to meet people where they are.

That's why we have to try to speak about the time we spend in church, so that they may know that we believe without shoving it down their throats, so that they know our faith exists when they want to know more about Jesus.

People think that priest only work on Saturday and Sunday. They forget that your human and your a priest 24/7.

Fr Casey thank you for doing this and thank God for Catholics (both the laity and the clergy) like you who have patience. I have a short temper, especially when it comes to people that are unabashedly antagonistic to the Church, whom I would not have been able to continue a respectful conversation with.

I loved that you guys did this. I was sad you didn’t do the same this year. Thanks for showing that priests are normal people too.

In my faith, a favorite scritpure teaches that the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. I absolutely understand this and wish I could do more like this. The woman who asked questions and couldn't believe you, but was engrossed with religion and started the conversation - I feel that. And we really really do need more people like you, Frs. Casey and Tito, who can be patient and listen to people and ask questions to get people thinking. Suggest ideas, maybe. I've been talking with two good friends who've been at my job much longer than I. I'm patient with them, even though they have very different conceptions of free will, the world, Christianity, how you approach family life, and so on. I wish I were more so; I know I can be so assertive that maybe it stifles questions. But at the same time, hey, I'm there. I am at least trying to listen. I'm getting better. And I am honest about where I'm coming from and what I see. It's not a perfect witness, but damned if I'm not trying to start the conversation and till the soil to let the Sower of Seeds plant some new ideas in some hearts. I have to take today apart from them because I was exposed to COVID, and these guys (and many others I work with) are older, and I want to respect them. But I'ma pray for them today and keep praying for them, hopefully long after I stop working there. I'm always eager to live out what Teresa of Avila says: "Christ has no body now but yours...Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, Yours are the eyes, you are his body."

Father, I was thinking out you and your baseball friend, Br. Tito, this weekend. I attended the Civil War Re-enactment at Gettysburg this past weekend. Sunday mass was offered by a re-enactor. This priest comes every year as a re-enactor (Artillery - Union Army). How wonderful that the faith and the sacraments are coming to where people are. I agree that sometimes there will be criticism of the "good times" priests, but hey, all workers need time to take off, unwind and just live their faith. Good job.

I think the Stadium tour was a great idea for which I thought you and Father Tito explained the objective at the start very well. I was able to briefly meet both of you at Dodger Stadium having planned to go to the game with my grandson just for that very reason. When we spotted you in the crowd walking toward us, you did seem to be in a hurry to head to a specific meeting/location but you both did stop when I yelled out. Just a brief hello and me thanking both of you for doing the tour and for all you do on the various media. I was impressed that you did ask if there was something that I would like you to pray for on my behalf. That was a very good thing. Thanks again to both of you for what you do.

I have a very healthy prayer life. I’ve been reborn after 45 years of absence. Confessing all those sins, mortal sins I had collected over those years, was so humbling and my priest said “the Church is a forgiving Church” and gave me what I thought was a very light penance. And the mass is sooo important to me. I feel the true presence of God there. Unfortunately I’m sick so I don’t get to go as often as I’d like but the Church puts it all online. Such a huge blessing to the sick. Praise God

Speaking as an atheist, I never thought you were goofing off or wasting money on your tour. I also regret not knowing about the tour, because I would have taken off from work to go. I fully understand most of what you say/do can't be filmed. Even though I don't follow your belief, you are helping people and deserve some fun too. Hopefully, you will do another tour in the future.

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed”. Thank you for this beautiful work. You can tell that so many of our beliefs and perceptions of God are shaped by past wounds. Merely asking questions like this is planting a seed for people to reflect on this.

What is shown on camera is never the whole picture. The fact that people would critique footage about a vacation, and call it frivolous, going so far as to call into question you and Father Tito's devotion to your vocation, just shows people to be sanctimonious and devoid of critical thinking. I appreciate this video, Father Casey, that shows a glimpse into all the "spiritually oriented" things you did on that vacation, but really it should be unnecessary.

Even before I knew these details I thought it was great that you and Tito were a presence. That you were open to listening to people was a given. As a Secular Franciscan I know how things are paid for and economized, so hearing about that part of the trip was no surprise. it was good to talk about that because it is unusual. Most trips cost a lot of money and it was natural to think of yours as being so. It was a worthwhile trip. Pace' et bene'.

Thank you for all these years of videos. I have come back to Jesus through a non-denominational church and became part of that family. I now have moved and am drawn to the Franciscan Parish in Hartford CT but am afraid to go back to Catholic Church I have so many questions and concerns, but I am still feeling a push to go back. As a Jew (Jewish Mom/Technically Catholic Dad) who is passionate about interfaith dialogue, I would love to sit down with a Christian and talk about our similarities/difference in a respectful manner. The closest I got to respectful Jewish-Christian dialogue was in college when I talked to some members of the Catholic Club. I view Christians as my little cousins (my fellow Jews are my siblings and fellow Tribespeople).

I was the the Cubs game you went to, Cubs won that game! Also my 1st Cubs game and had a blast.

I see you were in Cooperstown I live near there. Father I go Mass for myself. I would give my life for the Catholic church. Priest need to have fun. God Bless all of you. We need more GOOD Priest like you.

Appreciating your work, dear Father Casey, as always! I'm looking forward to hear from you every time and I think you're doing a great job, by showing a life in faith in all its aspects! As a secular Franciscan (OFS), the world is "our monastry". Although I'm more of an Introvert, people start to encounter my little brother and me, because as an Autist, he always holds his Rosary visible in his hands. At work, other nurses at the retirement home for disabled people encountered me several times, because they really seem interested in my way of life (which is amazing in its own way; swiss people can be very shy at "private" topics like Religion, especially around the "arrogant" district of Zurich). They always seem sort of amazed, that I can live a "normal" life, even with the option of marriage and so on. It helped destroy Stereotypes, what a "nun" has always have to look like. Sometimes, I meet new people at Pokémon GO, where my name literally means "Follow Jesus". Or people learn about the Bible, when I protest against Animal Abuse etc., in small and peaceful groups. I like to celebrate faith at Christian Metal Festivals, where people gather as Christians, not primarly as Protestants and Catholics. I see, that people view the often silently shared Gospel all over my social Media, and sometimes, they start a chat with me about it. A few days ago, I met some mormon Tourists downtown, I showed them the City, we had a blast of a time, and we also felt united in faith, no matter any differences. I don't focus on all the hours when I feel exhausted or angry about myself, because I'm never satisfied with little old me. I only share aaaaaall these daily, invisible struggles with God alone. Life isn't just fun and games... But it's a treasure with countless, precious jewels of humanity. Every new day brings countless moments to LIVE faith not only by word, and I stay thankful for every single one of it.

Keep doing these interviews. It shows us how to help those who don’t believe or no longer attend mass-gives me ideas of what to say to them

"I don't have an answer for that." That woman just gained my respect. It's not at all a skill you can count on every person having. To stand there in a conversation and say "I cannot answer that" or "I don't know".

I enjoy talks with my priest. I have reentered the catholic church two weeks ago and I would love having the opportunity to talk to priests more in my age bracket or even younger. As much as I enjoy talking to my priest, who is past 70, there is a difference in vernacular.... that makes things harder to be honest.

I completely agree with the message of your video. Also, you are excellent at asking the right questions. That is a rare skill. I hope you (and other Franciscains) get a chance to go out and evangelize. (And yes, we can all appreciate that you actually evangelize and don't proselityze!) God bless you and your brothers.

My husband's journey into faith showed me the best way to evangelize. A couple exgfs are Catholic and not only were pushy about it, but acted un-Christian 6.5 days a week. When we moved and I started going to a nondenom church, I told him I wasn't gonna force him. I'd love it if he came, but it's not my job to drag him to church against his will. Then he slowly started coming with me because it wasn't forced. Now I'm joining the Catholic church. He's not quite on board with doing it himself, but he's not going to stop me. All this to say, the best way I've found to evangelize is to extend an invitation without pressure but with love and grace (probably several times) and try to live out the morality we preach. Anything else pushes people away

Father Casey, I was told many, many years ago by a man I truly respect...a man that became Friar Minor...he said " God answers prayers but sometimes the answer is no." Just my thoughts but it seems if more folk knew and understood this, we would have a little better understanding.

I’m sorry you got negative comments, even if you were just having fun, you have the right a break. I’m also glad you took it as an opportunity to further show pain what you do. I also love you openly asking people these questions. I personally can identify with most of what they had to say, the good and the bad. Seeing fr. Casey respond to the bad I feel makes me feel heard. Two things have drawn me back to Catholicism after decades aware- pope Francis & fr. Casey. Should be a separate post; My first response to hearing the question was that I have issues with the limited role of women. My priest, fr. Casey & others have addressed it respectfully & with understanding, but without real explanation of why it can’t work or why it hasn’t been changed. Credit is given but that’s the end. “Women are the foundation, they are running churches, they bring their families” in, but they will never be a bishop, or a Catholic friar. But they ARE appreciated so titles shouldn’t matter. Some people want the title. It means something. It’s an accomplishment, and signal to others of the study you’ve devoted or work done to get that title. Men need the titles. You have to leave the denomination to make a career as clergy unless you want to be a nun. That’s very sad to me. Within this “topic” since it’s not really a debate, just going in circles for almost 2000 years, I never hear those early years discussed. It SEEMS like there were plenty of female apostles, teachers, preachers & leaders for the first hundred years. When did it stop? Why? I’d love someone to address the role of women through Christ’s eyes, as well as we can interpret it. I don’t think he’d have objected to a woman being a priest or working all the way up to Pope. I don’t understand why Mary Magdalene, the first to see the resurrected Christ, a devoted student & supporter, is NOT considered an apostle.

I recently stumbled upon your channel. I love how you talk about the church, questions we all have and make it easy to understand. I’m catholic, went to 12 years of catholic school - we had a very young priest at the grade school and growing up he stayed in our parish for quite a while. He would always show up at the beach, or the local snow ski resort. People do forget you all have a life outside of the church and are human too and enjoy all things we all enjoy. If I could change 1 thing about the church - as this video asked a gentleman - it would be to allow priests to marry. There are many brilliant men around who would make awesome priests and husbands. I think you are one of them. 😊

I remember the first time I took my husband to meet my family in Italy and a big Juventus match was on. I have 2 cousins who are priests. After dinner, with a glass of wine and some chocolate and nuts, we settled to watch the match. One of the my cousins was yelling at the TV, yelling at the players, yelling at the ref. My husband laughed and turned and said 'I thought you said he was a holy man'?!?! Yes, he is I replied, but he's human and when it comes to football, I think he just asks God to cover his ears!!

I think going to baseball games is a fantastic way to reach people in a real-world, comfortable environment where nobody feels like religion is being pushed on them. Keep it up, you and your channel are doing great things!

So good. I figured all this was happening off camera, glad to see some of it. The last conversation was so powerful. I work with college students in a campus ministry and I see this kind of difficult relationship with God a lot. I’d love to see a video, almost a teaching to us, about how to ask good questions, give space for doubt, not be judgmental etc… basically how to approach people the way you did in this video. I agree wholeheartedly with your style in this type of environment and would love to hear more about how to replicate it in your life.

What? You can't enjoy yourself? The rest of the world does too much real work, and never gets any rest. You do real work, Casey. You present the Gospel to people. That is one of the nuances of Cain and Abel. Cain worked by the sweat of his brow, and had no rest, while Abel it seemed idly tended to sheep. And Cain was jealous, because God was more pleased with Abel, as he had given his sacrifice with love. Like, I do real work, but my family think it's worthless. I just have to be low key, otherwise I completely shut down, so I work on writing and learning philosophy and the nuances of poetry, so I can be a better evangelist. It's the same thing with you. Which I do about 4 hours of work every day, consistently. Which is enough. I think. It's just how I'm wired, the least bit of pressure I can't do anything, so I need a calm and still environment to do my best work. No time pressures or systems of control, I need to be free to do things at my own pace. People think I'm lazy, but it's just the way my psychology is. I enjoy learning about difficult things, and communicating that tradition, so we have a complete tradition of learning to hand down to the next generation. And I engage with people online most of the day to spread the Good News.

We had a Parochial Vicar, unfortunately only for one year before he was reassigned to be Pastor of 5 parishes, who went to local high school football games and even the state championship in his priestly attire. He played a major role in the confirmation program too. He was able to reach youth and the community in a special way because he engaged in this way.

If you want to save the one who are away from God you have to go to them in their comfortable place and cannot wait in church because they will never come in but with this approach they will come.
