This is one of our longer videos featuring us building a TH400, while this is not exactly a "how to" it does have a lot of tips and tricks in it about TH400 building!

I've watched a lot of build videos and this was more informative than 95% I've come across. Especially talking about the clearances.

Glad to hear 😁

On the direct, before u put the pressure plate on. Put three washers with the thickness you want for clearance at 120 degrees apart on the last friction. Then drop on the pressure plate if the snap ring goes on and no play then it’s good. I have a few sets of washers for whatever clearance I want.

If that has a high stall converter now way it needs a wave plate anywhere in the transmission

I might’ve missed it but does rear play also affect your drum clearance

GOD DANG AHAHAHAH Caesar you fucked that line up at the end so bad ahahahahaha that was gold. All you had to do was put it back in the same way it came out. And that was only a 6 clutch drum! 6l80's and 90's you can do 13 14 clutches pretty easy. I always line up the clutches before putting the drum in, even then you miss one. You gotta feel the teeth around the hub and how it doesn't line up usually is more about it being off center than being not inline with the splines. Because when it's not inline with the splines, one or two turns will do it. You have to move the drum around to pull the clutches back in line

What are you looking for when you put the center support on briefly? 9:54 and 14:11 Thanks!
@horsepowerfactorytx6 ай бұрын
Reaction carrier clearance to center support, but we over did it tbh. Not really needed to be so tight.
@TyTanium12946 ай бұрын
@@horsepowerfactorytx but the reaction carrier wasn’t on there yet. Do you see what I’m curious about? He purposefully left the reaction carrier off and was looking at something. 9:54 and 14:11. After he was satisfied, he pulled the center section off and then added the reaction carrier. Thank you for the video and your timely response too, btw. 👍

Making sure the bearing on the output carrier was free and smooth, maybe?
@horsepowerfactorytx6 ай бұрын
@@TyTanium1294 so just rewatched the specific part and either he messed up and forgot to install the reaction carrier, or was simply checking to see if it was free (center support bushing didn’t have any high spots or nicks that prevented smooth movement). That’s all I can think of, there’s nothing else besides the bearing that goes on top of the sun gear that the CS rides on.

How are you using a no walk bushing with a th350 pump bearing? I always just buy the sonnax no walk bushing that comes with a bearing and shims large enough to go around the bushing because the th350 bearing ID is too small..
@horsepowerfactorytx3 жыл бұрын
Cesar thought it was a no walk bushing its actually a regular bushing driven an extra bit so theres a small bit of material about 50 thou sticking out and helps center the bearing
@Headsup95503 жыл бұрын
@@horsepowerfactorytx That makes sense! That's how my dad does them. Pretty much same end result..

So the problem was doing burnouts in first gear then shifting to second? what is the proper way, start in 2nd gear burnouts then shift to third gear?
@horsepowerfactorytx3 жыл бұрын
With a th400/4l80e yes that is the correct way of doing the burnout if not the sprag will eventually break, this one has a 36 element sprag on the direct drum so itll take much more abuse. Another way of doing it is to just simply start the burnout as soon as it starts spinning the tire shift into 2nd so theres no drastic power shock
@jaimeoops3 жыл бұрын
@@horsepowerfactorytx i have a 4l80 with the CK performance super comp direct drum with the badass wide sprag, but it is better to take care of that even with a good sprag! Saludos a Cesar!
