Where did we get the idea to build a slide out BBQ grill for our Skoolie? This one came straight out of Kerry's imagination! We love to grill outdoors in the summer, and we plan to be camped in some pretty remote locations. This will give us a place to cook without heating up the bus, and still allow us to grill outdoors when & where campfires are restricted!
This video walks you through our entire process, from cutting a hole in the side of the bus, to modifying the grill and hooking up the propane line!

About Us:
Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!
Mike & Kerry

So ... basically, your entire bus is a one-off design or what we brits call: Bespoke ! Designed to your exact desire with no other bus like it. Love watching how you apply creativity and know-how to get everything done. Bussy Bespoke is going great!

You two are an awesome pair. I finally realized after watching 5+ years of van/school bus builds I should have been looking for the perfect male counterpart too! In the meantime, I'll get my "fix" by watching you too. You're hilarious, helpful and make the most entertaining content. Thank, for sharing.

Hi Guys! Mike, is there ANYthing you can't build, weld, manufacture, or, do? LOL! Man, I am just blown away at your skills! I think once I get my settlement [and the Pleasureway Lexor TS to go on the road full time] I'll be hiring you to do a few things for ME! And, I'm being SERIOUS! That grill angle you figured for the slide couldn't have been any better! Fantastic job to say the least! Just simply WOWWWWWW! Have a blessed evening Mike and Kerry, and, I'm gonna end my comment right here👇

You and mike are the best, we love your home...it's sharp as hell. Cook some good steaks and barbecue ribs on that grill!

Love the grill ! Two suggestions, One a fold down leg or a place to attach a leg at the end to stop it from bouncing and take some of the weight off the slides. Two a cover to slip over and close the end of the grill to keep the road crud from getting into it. The taste and smell of road crud on the food would be a downer.

3er thing that is forgotten is the taste of diesel! all the spots that are seen are diesel, the pipes of the heaters pass just above the grill, check that well, fire, grease and diesel. It is common knowledge that diesel vapors are not flammable, but they are harmful in food

Checks to make sure that my red Coleman grill is still on the patio. Yep! Love that thing. You'll like not having it inside because getting a grill perfectly clean is nigh impossible. Good to keep the grease smell outside all the time.

Excellent Job! Suggestion: Consider installing/building an enclosed cabinet of some sort to enclosed the area so it stays clean when traveling. What's going to happened, one day after traveling you will want to grill and the whole thing will be dusty and full of dirt, which will be a lengthy time to clean it before cooking. I know it will be a little work, but build an enclosed box so the whole setup will be contained and sealed. You will be happy you did it now then later engineer something on the road too combat the problem. Good Luck.......

Great minds think alike. I have had a similar outdoor kitchen slide out planned for our build. Thinking wok burner, small traeger pellet grill smoker and a little sink or bucket for cleaning up. And a cutting board. We don't like strong cooking smells in out bedroom and I cook a lot of pungent spicy cuisine. So I figure cooking outside most of the time is a good plan.

@jimsteele9261
@jimsteele9261 4 жыл бұрын
maybe use some smaller tube stock inside the frame and pivoted. a piece sort of like a 2-rung ladder. If there's enough room under there, I'd suggest another set of legs that pivot backwards to support the bus side of the slideout. Something needs to be done to keep that door from bouncing around too. imho :)

dont the drawerslides have plastic parts in them ..... never mind probably doesnt matter with how low you mounted them think by the time you pull the grille out to use it after traveling it be covered in dust and mud maibe you need to put a cabinet around it or at least pack it up a little with some canvas cover (drawcord bag type )
