I hope that you enjoyed this quick tour of our newly built DIY Mini Chicken Coop & Run. It’s important to Note that similar to everything farming and homesteading related, this is a work in progress and an opportunity to learn and grow.
While we are so proud of the end result, there are some things we hope to fix and do better:
- finish the protective barrier
- install the ​⁠‪@hengear‬ nest box
- expand the coop & run to accommodate more babies..
- finish the decorative trim
Please feel free to add any suggestions for improvements in the comments section down below and don’t be afraid to ask any questions that you may have! I know where you are (because I’m still there). Bringing home these little babies can be scary for anyone especially if you’re just getting started with homesteading or farming. - the $100 window! I love turning on the coop light and peeping through the window to watch the chickies! The window was so expensive and terrible quality but worth every penny when you can look in and see how happy your babies are!
- chicken waterer & feeder (linked below) These ladies are disgusting! While I am still using the basic feeder and waterer from TSC for our baby chicks, the ones from Amazon keep the coop clean and easy to adapt to different situations. For example, I like to move them between the coop and the run to ensure that they have food and water easily accessible at all times.
