When I used to work as a bank teller, as soon as we saw someone come in with a FedEx envelope we knew it was most likely a fake check. We actually used to get little bonuses for stopping fraudulent checks from being deposited and sending the check and info to our fraud department.

Cheques look so weird there in the U.S. Apart from the fact cheques are very rarely ever used here or accepted as payment, they are normally from a bank cheque book. Only one I've ever gotten that was not was from my insurance company which was still on A4 bank stationary and had a perforation to remove cheque from insurance companys printed letterhead.

The average person can't tell a fake check from a counterfeit one. They trust by default that the bank can. Check scams would not even be possible if the banks took more measures to confirm if a check is counterfeit or not before accepting it and leaving their customers responsible with no recourse if they get suckered. I am not blaming the banks, just stating the FACT that the banks can come off as enablers and accessories when they accept a counterfeit check and clear it and then essentially tell their customer to kick rocks when they are stuck footing the bill. It is refreshing to read that the bank you worked for was actually taking measures. Sadly, most banks don't.. or at least didn't until so many of their customers were defrauded.

My father had a saying that helped keep me from being scammers... "If it is so easy that anyone can do it, then everyone would be doing it." If companies paid us $600 a week to put advertisements on our cars, all the cars on the road would look like they were from NASCAR.

This happened to me 2 years ago. When I took the check to the bank, I asked the bank to examine the check. I explained to him about the text I received from a scammer, the decal, etc., and he assured me that it is fake and it has happened before. And he want to keep the check to send it to the fraud department. This is crazy lol

I had a roommate who almost fell for this scam back in 2015. I’ve always had trust issues, ngl, but as soon as he told me about it I asked him to be careful; once he got the checks I definitely knew the whole thing was fishy af, so I suggested that he took the check to the bank and have them check it out and to not cash it.

Thank you for your hard work and courage! Entire civilizations have Warred ,crumbled, children pay dearly with their lives and burned through out history because, the citizens become lazy, greedy, and compliant. You might make a historian video of civilizations falling into war, despair, child abuse, and burnings. And literacy, fair wage & financial transparency is so important to teach each other and nurture educating about proper standard credit systems. Because, we are a Free People we do not get ALL. Remember that America. I am greatful for the minimalist movement, it may need to happened. Sadly, advertisers nurture the materialism. Reno-Lake Tahoe Nevada Christmas morning 2020.

My dad had this happen on a Craigslist RV scam ("Ray Ferguson" fyi). Unfortunately for them, I've been in banking for years and saw right through the bs. It's exactly like this scam. We ended up calling the fraud department of the bank listed on the check. They perked right up and had us fax them every single text, email, any form of communication, along with the check and envelope. The bank themselves went after this guy hard. Scammers lesson learned. Don't fuck with a banker. 😂

12:53 this check is really strange. the routing number really is for KeyBank National Association, but that bank only operates in Ohio and has no branches in other states. The PO box listed as the branch address is actually the same PO box company as the sender... which means who ever cut that check is doing a weird scam where they are trying to capture any return letters to the real bank. Also, the routing number seems to be the same for all branches in Ohio, which i've never seen. And the cherry on top is that is a printable check. i have used thousands of those bastards. they basically come in blank reams, and you print whatever you want, EXCEPT for the routing, check number, and account number. those are on the ream when you buy it. So someone bought a ream of checks for that bank, then made a fake branch address, then made a fake sending company, then had them both use the same PO box company. That's a whole pile of stupid, but i don't think that's actually check fraud. the branch details don't have to be accurate, only the routing number and account number. edit: i just saw the close up on the check, and that is for sure a fake check. they use a shitty printer to do a front and back print of what normally goes on those printable checks. maybe there are reams that look like that, but i doubt it. smells like check fraud lol

Hey! I got this scam a couple years ago! For me it was a Dr. Pepper car wrap though. I responded to the ad and I know at the info screen that it was a scam. The grammar was terrible! But I proceeded anyway in order to learn exactly how the scam works. I got the check, exactly the same- FedEx envelope, but mine came with a standard size sheet of paper with instructions that would fit on a post it note. So many times along the way, I could point out red flags. As I said though, I knew from the beginning so I wasn't about to do anything stupid. In fact, although it probably didn't benefit anyone, I filed a police report. At the very least, perhaps the officer who took pics of the check, my texts, and emails may have been able to inform someone else and prevent them from falling for it. I had a blast stringing the dude along. I strongly admire and appreciate what you guys do. I mess with scammers but not to the extent that you do. Anyway, keep up the amazing work! 🤗💙

Some constructive criticism: You can’t give in so much you’re giving them too much time to speak and explain themselves, if you want them to turn on the camera you say your initial “We need to build a relationship” he starts giving excuses you say “I’m willing to give you the money if you don’t want to show your face I won’t show my car” and hang up, they will come running towards you, YOU ARE IN CONTROL if you give them all this explaining they’ll just hang up! My son-in-law fell for this same scam. His wrap was to advertise Dasani. My s-i-l & daughter were both out of work & struggling trying to make ends meet. Worried about supporting his wife and infant daughter he jumped at the chance to make some money. He followed their instructions deposited the check into their account & of course, it all went to crap. Then my s-i-l was devastated & feeling humiliated. My s-i-l and daughter had to take out a bank loan that they couldn't afford to satisfy the bank. It was devastating to the family! I'm SO glad to see y'all going after these monsters.

I sometimes see ads for "secret shoppers wanted" - they absolutely scream "scam" at me. Much like ads for "child models wanted" or any other apparently low risk, low effort way to make money.

Love your work guys. I do my best to waste as much of scammers times as I can. I've asked them to just hold on a sec while I grab kids out of the bath (my kids are adults and weren't home) and then proceeded to keep working while listening to them, have told them that the gift cards charged to my credit card was really a sex doll and the seller must have just put it down as gift cards (scammer just kept to script), told them I don't have a phone (while talking on it), have said that I don't have a computer, told them that Windows Defender has blocked this action when they try to get me to download teamviewer and a multitude of other time wasting efforts.

I'm glad for the work you guys, kitboga and scammers payback. I actually fell for a scam in 2016 for a job ad on craigslist. I was in a depression episode and was so in need of a job and money. When i spoke with the person, i let all my critical thinking shutdown. I was literally desperate for a job, come to find out. My bank account was shutdown due to this, i don't know what happened after. Unfortunately i did cash the check and sent them the money, i felt so dumb and upset after. I have never admitted publicly it until now, it sucks but i am glad even through depression i didn't take my life. i took pictures of receipt from bank of America of the money deposit. Still to this day, i hate that i fell for it...i have the pics just to remind me of my stupidity to fair.

I was selling a four wheeler on Facebook marketplace. Got contacted by a “woman” that claimed she wanted to buy buy it for her son. Sent a check via FedEx but was for more than agreed upon. The check was from a construction company, I don’t recall where. I researched the company and called. They said they’d had multiple scams done with their information. I called the local Sheriff’s office and a deputy came to do a report. Never heard about it again.

Did anyone else notice how his English improved immediately when the conversation went to the cheque's BOTH arriving....amazzing 😳😳😳. Instant English skills!!! Love your work! BTW there is a Dublin Georgia and it is a wonderful place to visit. There is also a Strickland Boots located right next to the courthouse and it has a long history and following. Love what you guys are doing. Have had a couple of attempts to scam me. The first one, I took to my bank and left it with them. The company was different that the company that the check was written on, and the account number was weird and the routing number didn't belong to any bank. They wanted me to deposit the money and then with draw a specific amount immediately. I was recently scammed regarding a vehicle wrap, so I looked up pepsi to see if they were actually offing this as a money maker. Of course they weren't so I played their game. I still have the Fed Ex envelope, letter and check. Not sure if I should take it back to the bank, will the police do anything about scammers? Would be more than happy to send it all to you. Would love to help in stopping these looser crooks.

I remember getting these emails 20 years ago. I remember my car was an eleven year old Corsica. The only reason I didnt look into it, is figuring they would turn my car down... If it was legit. I never even thought it was scam til now. If i had had like a 2 year old car, I would have totally contacted hoping for extra passive money. However I may not have wanted to wrap a new car. So I was lucky, they probably do assume people with older cars think, "who cares if my car is wrapped.?" Amazing info on this scam. I think i'm scam smart, but this I very well could have fallen for. Check bounce. Dang. Ty for your exposing.

I work with car decals and signs in general. I would find this one interesting if they sent me the check. They would want me to forward the money to the wrap people and then I would tell them I could wrap my own car and that I will just keep the "money" to do it myself. I bet that would put a wrench in their scam.
