Fun fact: the reason that the messages dissapeared but the "I love you" did not is because in Japanese folklore, all messages of love is protected by the moon god. If Taki wrote his name on Mitsuha's hand, chances are it will be erased just like the notes in Taki's phone. Taki prolly thought of that and instead of writing his name he wrote his feelings for her.

Considering they just left the twilight and moved into the night, it makes sense that the Moon can protect that message. Also, it is usually seen that the Moon is in a higher degree than the stars, and the comet was a falling star. I do wonder why would messages of love be protected? Maybe it is not protected, but respected, at least that is what I think.

This movie really made me realize the Japanese styled 2D animated movies are nowhere near dying despite how advanced 3D animations are. It's so beautiful I can't believe it!!

@@saverio_6990 There's something evocative about Shinkai's animation style that makes me want to exist in that world. I never get that with American cartoons or even real movies, every time I watch a Shinkai production, I just want to be absorbed into it. He makes such beautiful landscapes. Beautiful skies, warm pastel colours, glistening water, crowded city skylines that don't look dystopic or dominating, the attention to detail with things like food just does something to me. 50% of the reason I enjoy Shinkai's movies is how good it looks and that's not taking anything away from the stories or acting etc, I just adore the visuals.

Right? This is also one of the things that I noticed too that other people tend to miss out. When Mitsuha woke up in her time, she had that sad tone in her voice when she said that Taki might be on his date already. She already had that sadness in her subconscious reason why he teared up in front of the mirror while braiding her hair.

The Garden of Words happens 3 years before this movie and features the teacher in Mitsuha’s class who was speaking about golden hour. Weathering with you takes place 3 years after. Both take place in the same “universe”. Also watch 5 centimeters per second

Fun tiny note. When they were righting each others name on their hands, he wrote "I love you" and she started writing "I love you" too. The Kanji for her name doesn't start that way but "I love you" does. So she was gonna write the same thing.

The crazy thing is... If you know Makoto Shinkai's other movies, you know he isn't shy of writing sad endings... So it was very very stressful at the end and memories played in too. What a movie... I always get the chills! 😍🌸

DAMNNN i was not ready for this! You know Indian anime fans love this movie so much that when Director of this movie Makoto Shinkai's new movie "Weathering with you" relased.. but it didn't release in India.. we made a petition and asked Makoto shinkai to release it in India.. and he is such a great person.. not only did he respond to us,Released the Movie in Indian theatres even before global release.. but he himself came to India and watched the movie with us Indian fans!! After this now i feel a greater connection to his work.. I've made almost everybody close to me watch this movie.. thankyou for this reaction. ❤️

Such a beautiful movie. The creator of Your Name stated after this movie ended that they got together at the end of this movie. It bothered me at the end the first time I watched it because I didnt know or not. Like I had to see it. Thank god the author confirmed it haha.

Good lord, you guys kept it together pretty well. I got lucky to see the movie in the theater not knowing anything about it, besides it being the highest grossing Japanese film so I wanted to see what it was all about. It's one of my favorite anime now. I get the same feels every time I see it even with reaction vids.

Watching this reaction, I just found it interesting that Miyamizu (宮水) means shrine and water. Then the grandma's name is Hitoha (一葉) means first and leaf, then the mom's name is Futaba (二葉) means second and leaf, then Mitsuha (三葉) means third and leaf, then the little sister's name is Yotsuha (四葉) meaning fourth and leaf. I don't know just found it interesting.

This film is a Masterpiece! One of the best films of 2016! I am shocked that it wasn't Nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars! This movie deserves all the praises! I saw this film for the first time at the cinema and it was one of the most mesmerising/beautiful experiences I have ever had! Definitely one of the best Cinema Experience! Love this film.

Then you should watch Grave of the Fireflies. Its way sadder, considering that its based on a true story. I liked Maquia too

you guys conversation at the end about how you can change memories to become a tall tale makes me think of one of my favorite movies called Big Fish. Its directed by Tim Burton and I don't see people react to it but I would LOVE to see you guys' reaction to a movie centered around that storytelling. Its very emotional to me and can make me cry like a baby.

“Weathering with you” is in the same verse type thingy as this movie, all the author’s movies including this one are all connected somehow with the characters

This film is an art. Beautifully produced, a delightful story that every time you watch, your eyes are filled with water. Thank you even from afar for watching this delightful story with me. Fanfact: The main characters quickly appear in the film Weathering With You.

This movie is an emotional Rollercoaster Starting from the nostalgic and emotional soundtrack which makes u feel like your missing a vital part of yourself to the outstanding scenery To the heartbreaking story of Taki and mitsuha No wonder I have watched it so many times It holds a special place in my heart
