I'm a Brit and spent my working life constructing tunnels around the world, you've just sailed over one of them. Back in the 70s after the 6-day war Egypt decided the build a road tunnel about 10 miles up from the Suez entrance. Our living camp was a 15 min walk from the canal and we'd spend some time watching the ships pass along, a very strange sight-seeing the desert and a ship going along. We had a couple of sailing dinghies house in a container next to a police post on the Bitter Lakes and that was where I learnt to sail, in those days there were several rusting hulks from that recent war. We also had an Egyptian Army bomb disposal unit stationed with us and as the wind uncovered the mines etc., they would be taken care of. I spent 7 years working on different tunnel projects in Egypt and The Bond Film, The Spy Who Loved Me, now that was great fun. So, thank you for reminding me of that time.

My family was on a ship sailing from Karachi to Liverpool in late 1956. I was 8. We had left Aden and were almost to the Suez canal when the ship did a 180 degree turn and cranked up the speed. A war had just started.

@@roadie3124 Spent 10 days sailing from Liverpool to Takoradi, W. Africa as a family, my father was a quarry manager supplying stone to build a bauxite loading pier at the above harbour. Returned to UK 18 months later aboard a BOAC 4 prop aircraft from Accra refueling at Tripoli and Rome landing at a very quiet Heathrow. In good time the watch the coronation on aunties TV.

Guys, I admit we haven't watched you guys as religiously (used to be our Sunday tradition) since we started our own sailing journey, but sitting here bobbing on anchor, and listening to you guys banter, make tacos and just talk makes me remember why we have enjoyed your channel so much over the years. You helped give us courage to take on this crazy journey despite having had no experience. You normalized it for us. Thank you thank you thank you.

I was 8 years old when we sailed through the Suez Canal, and I have memory of it being narrower in parts. I was so keen to see this video, but can't say I remembered much at all, seems it was larger open waters than I remembered. As an adult I have been on the viewing deck of the Panama Canal, but would love to sail through it, with all it's locks.

Him hanging off the bow sprit reminds me of a fun thing we do in the BVI's. While under sail attach a really long line on a stern cleat and carry it to the bow and dive off, stay underwater as the boat sails over the top of you and eventually the line goes tight and you pull your way back to the swim step. I believe it's called a "water world".

You probably will not read this but i highly recommend going to Malta on your mediterranean adventure. Truly a forgotten gem in europe. Your kids will have great fun there because a lot of teens and young adults come there from all over the world to learn english. They also have amazing beaches, water and incredible ancient historic sites older then the pyramids in Egypt. Oh and they also have tons of american supermarkets on the Island where you can find a lot of supplies you probably remember from home. Wish you safe travels and all the best

First video I have watched on this channel, and I will admit, I am here because of Finn's KZfaq channel. You deserve credit on two fronts: 01) you have interesting videos that are well produced- it is easy to tell after one vid, but 02) I think the real credit you deserve (after watching Finn's videos) is raising three amazing kids. Any parent would be proud of them.

Four eggs! Keith, your cholesterol is going to be sky high! 280 per egg is already high. Love your heart, dude. Cool it! Live long and prosper! Meat, eggs, butter, in moderation and no coconut oil! Only avocado, grapeseed, and olive oils. No heart attacks at sea, please! Ditch the carbs and ditch your gut, which is ballooning again. We love you! Kids are growing up! Handsome! New to your channel and binge watching your journey. While we use our boat in Hawaii waters only and aren’t boating international waters I can tell everyone watching that Keith makes the logistics look so effortless but it is a complicated equation of weather monitoring, navigating, timing etc etc etc to ensure they’re safely sailing away. I love boat life but it’s not for everyone. Your family is a fine tuned crew and impressive how the kids work as a crew. The well traveled experience the kids are acquiring through learning and respecting different cultures and being self sufficient will set them up for anything they choose to do. These videos are so well done. Excellent editing Renee! The intro music is so good, it gets stuck on loop in my head. Finns channel is awesome. If you type Finn into search his channel pops up first. His music is amazing!!! Everyone should check it out also. I think Jack needs his own channel with all the extreme water sports he seems to excel at. Safe sailing. Aloha from Kauai🤙~~~~Kiki🌺
