We cuddled with HERDWICK SHEEP IN THE LAKE DISTRICT// As promised today is the day where we share with you something very special: We went to Yew Tree Farm in Coniston in the Lake District, a farm Beatrix Potter bought in 1930 and that is now home to Jo and Jon and their 1000 sheep. It was also used as Hill Top Farm in the film 'Miss Potter' with Renée Zellwegger. We booked a Herdwick experience to learn about farming and the Herdwick sheep that are local to the Lake District. What an amazing day!
Beatrix Potter wasn't only a children's author but also a conservationist and committed to the conservation of Herdwick sheep. Herdwicks grow very slowly and by purchasing products directly from the farmers, you are supporting sustainable fell-farming and protect the Herdwick sheep and this amazing landscape.

Having married a wonderful man from Manchester, but living in Houston, Texas, USA, I cannot think of a place I miss more than the Lake District. I associate it with magical landscape, wonderful and warm people, and of course my beloved Herdwick sheep. As a knitter, their wool is certainly not the softest, but provenance matters, and I love that those gentle sheep produce such beautiful and warm wool. Thank you for sharing the Lake District with us.

Pure Joy! That’s what I felt watching this video. Kirsten, the shepherdess, I could feel your excitement when you had the opportunity to interact with your favorite animal. Hello Kirsten and Joerg... my hubby and I absolutely LOVE YOUR TRAVELS and videos... they make us so homesick for the years we traveled and lived in the UK. You do such a wonderful job of filming and making your videos so interesting and charming with all your info and add-ons.Your cooking shows in your quaint kitchen are wonderful. Your kitchen reminds me of ours....a tiny 90 year old Adobe cottage in the hills of California. My husband came out less than a half an hour ago from his office and said, "Is there a new video from Kirsten and Joerg?" He's gotten so funny, always remembering on Tuesdays! I was in the middle of something else but I said I would check... "yes, she posted 52 seconds ago!" LOL.... so of course he wanted to sit down right then and watch it. :) Oh, it was wonderful! I would sooo love to go there and commune with those beautiful sheep! I also love that peaceful lake and the autumnal scenery around it. It's so hard to wait for autumn here in California, which has not yet arrived (and a bit subtle even when it gets here). Once again, though, we were mystified why no masks were worn around your "sheep guide." I guess things are really under control in the UK? We are in such a terrible place here in the US because of those who refuse to wear masks, it makes me nervous whenever I see it. xo

Awww haahh thank you so much! No, we have a spike in Covid cases here as well but we were always at a safe distance from Jo and were only outside with her so there was absolutely nothing to worry about. We wear masks inside at all times and have no contact with people. We definitely don't belong to those people who refuse to wear masks, you can be sure of that.

This was so nostalgic for me to watch... We used to go to the lakes regularly for holidays as a young girl.... with my parents and sister we did all the things you did.... It brought a tear to my eye as my father loved it so much... sadly he passed away a few years ago.. I felt he was watching this with me... Thank you for bringing back memories, that gave me the best childhood anyone could ever have... with a FATHER WHO LOVED US SO MUCH.... These sheep have been treated with kindness and love since they were babies-most farm animals are not. That is why they are so calm around people. Animals are full of love and kindness when they feel safe. God bless these sweet ones.

It was such a nice sight when the sheep wanted to be cuddled. I would have not gotten away from dogs and cats. Or that nice horse and cattle. I love all those farm animals. But the turkey needs to be respected for his beak. But I would go there if I could. To make my own experience. Also the colors and patterns of the fur of the Herdwick sheep is very interesting. I also grew up with Beatrix Potter: Aunt Jemima Puddle Duck amongst others. I still have the original English book with Beatrix Potter tales with black and white sketches for illustration. It is a keepsake for happy childhood memories. How nice that dogs are welcome and get a free biscuit or bed from the cafe. What a picturesque lake. It looks like a painting from Bob Ross. I reared an orphan lamb called Sues she drank milk out of a large bowl in our “kitchen” along with the dog and cat. It was beautiful to watch the three of them together. I just love sheep thank you for sharing your special day.

Kirsten, it was like that sheep was your long lost boyfriend, he was looking at you with such love in his being. What a beautiful adventure and thank you for showing us that there is so much joy to be experienced in life and that we don't have to venture far to find it. Dear Kirsten and Jorge, Another brilliant video.! Yew Tree Farm and Beatrix' Cottage. WOW! The sheep were amazing, so sweet and lovable. Letting you pet them and watching them cuddle up to you was like having a kitten or puppy. I never knew sheep could be so gentle. Jo was lovely and she does indeed care for her sheep. As it is unlikely I would ever be able to go there personally, I do appreciate your taking us with you for the journey. The country side is glorious. I believe part of what makes your videos and adventures so great, is to see the very loving interaction between the two of you. You are such a beautiful couple. Take care. Much love.

Probably one of my favorite videos of yours- and I’ve watched every single one! Beautiful countryside and I absolutely loved watching the sheep. You looked so happy, Kirsten, and I laughed along with you as those cute sheep snuggled with you. Sheep are one of my favorite animals. Watching them literally RUN up to the tour guide as she greeted and fed them was so sweet to see. It reminded me of the illustration of Christ as The Good Shepherd to His people. “My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 Thanks for another wonderful video. ❤️

Awesome! The sheep are so beautiful. I never knew there were so many different breeds of sheep. The farm is just awesome and you can tell the lady enjoys taking care of the sheep. That is a lot of work but a real peaceful place to work. Thank you for taking us on this trip. Have a Blessed Week!

My sister sent me the link to your vlog as I am so busy with life, but as soon as I could watch it, my blood pressure went down and I immeditaly felt a sense of calm .The scenery at the Lakes at this time of year looks stunning!
