As an only child, I know what it is like growing up "alone". I can't count the times I hoped (and still do) that I had siblings. I can't imagine what it would be like but somehow I have always missed that part of a family. Though I also didn't have a father so that did also affect the lonely atmosphere in my childhood

Leo is a little over year old now, right? When coming out of the baby year (which is usually very tiring for everyone, been there) thinking about a second child is a little "oh my god this again never", and I know the culture might be a little "smaller age gap is better because then they can play with each other more easily", but as someone who has siblings with 2.5 years, 11 years and 13 years between us, it is not necessary. Of course I am closer to my older brother since we are closer to each others ages and we shared most of our formative years, but the love and bonds I share with our younger siblings are not lesser ones because they are different. In couple of years you might have a very different opinion on more children than now, to one way or another.

It's interesting to me that you say that you're "of course" closer to the sibling you're closest to in age. I guess it would usually turn out that way, huh? Personally, I have three older siblings, 5, 9, and 13 years older than me, but I definitely feel closest to the very oldest one. We just happened to turn out more similar in personality, interests, and sense of humor... And due to the age gap he was mature enough to treat me with kindness and respect, even when I was being a little shit, whereas my other two siblings were still rowdy teenagers and didn't necessarily have that patience lmao
@vimmaemiilia
@vimmaemiilia 3 жыл бұрын
@@Yoarashi Yeah, it was more of a "this is how it is for me" than "this is how it is for everyone" of course. I think for me it's just the fact that my older brother and I were the only kids until we were teenagers and that we are now both adults while the younger ones are preteens, so we have more in common right now. A bit difficult to talk about jobs and play Resi games with a 11-year-old lmao, but I am waiting for how we all are in like ten years!

Oh boy, we're also wondering about a second baby. Our daughter was born I believe 3 or so months before Leo was so we're in a pretty similar age and wondering stage - we would kind of like to start thinking about a another baby but there's a global pandemic and idk how I'd handle pregnancy while being scared to catch c*vid. And then again it would be nice to not wait for forever and to not have a larger age gap between siblings. Sigh. I was an only child until I was 15 so I know personally how lonely it could get growing up.

What language do you speak with Leo? My husband and I only speak English (because learning finnish is taking forever for me, I know you understand the challenge 😂) and we have a little one on the way, I was wondering if that would force me to speed up the learning process or would it be better to speak English with the baby 🤔 she'll still learn finnish from day care and everywhere else 🤔
@davecad
@davecad 3 жыл бұрын
I would say both of you speak whatever language comes most naturally to you. If you speak Finnish to the baby, your husband will naturally pick up words from everyday life. This has happened with me and Swedish since Cat speaks it with Leo. It's CRAZY how much sinks in when you learn passively like this!

Yeah the daycare fees are higher in London since the kindergarten teachers get good or decent pay. Here the monthly income is absolutely rubbish and disgrace and many teachers hate their job with a passion and therefore don't take good care of the children, unfortunately. I know all too well since I was working there for years before I finally gave up. Not because I didn't love the kids since I absolutely did, but the stress, bad pay and insane demands were too much

I have 4, 11 and 14 years younger siblings and they're all very important to me. Of course the difference between the 4 years younger and 14 years younger is a lot. More of a parent to the other in many occasions. But the 4 year gap hasn't been bad. We had many friends who were just between our ages so we grew up with the same friends quite a lot. Of course we fought a lot like the youngest ones do too, but I guess that just comes with being siblings around the same age.

About simbling to children. Its okay feel one day its enought, but then it comes maybe one day... Its normal to feel that. About haveing siblings, I grow up whit five, and it was never boring. When I was 18 years, oldest, my mum got my sister at 44 years old. She has grow up whit teens/adult sisters and brothers, even she has sibling, it was kinda lonelly. When my sister was little over 2 years, I got my son, so little aunt had a friend to play whit... Years go by, and I meet my future husband and we are expecting this summer his first child, Iam soon 41 years old, I got time... My daughter turns 18 years this year and my son, 21 years. So its never too late 😁 But for my fiance is importent to get after this siblings, becourse he is the only child. If it doesnt come, it has grow up siblings, like my sister did, but more fun to have in their own age. And I want many kids, so I dont say no too that... Give me 10, Give 100 😏 Get kids is thru joy, even those hard days, and is worth it. Okay, I have to say, Iam not relgious, doing it from own choice... So, no hurry, You got all time in world.👏

Hey Jassu, I appreciate that it seems this way at the moment, but as Ilja pointed out, this is how I support me and my family. I promise there will be some old school videos coming soon (perhaps this week, even) but in order for me to be able to make those, I need to also make collaboration videos. Also, with the corona situation, comes an enormous lack of inspiration. We can't go anywhere and nothing is happening... but I'm really working hard every day trying to think of things to film and ways to make it interesting in these times... please bear with me :) P.S. It seems like a lot of new parents who are content creators also go through this kind of 'life burn-out' too, which I've definitely been going through the past year and a half, so I'm just doing what I can and when the opportunities come along for me to pay the bills, I have to take the ones that make sense.
