This is a Division 1 Superkart. It’s essentially what you get if you put a Formula 1 car in the washing machine but you keep all the scary bits.
To save you the math, that’s roughly 690bhp per ton - more than a McLaren Senna and more than ANY GT3 car. The difference is, you don’t get any seatbelts in a superkart. Even if you could hear me over the noise, you would hear me saying ANYTHING of use. The vibration and the savagery of that kart was a bit much for someone who had never driven a quick racecar before. Let alone one of these things

Use to race unlimited 125 CC Shifters (106mph max) and had a friend racing the 250 cc on the California great tracks like Laguna, Sears point, Big Willow and others. At time the great 4 times Grand Prix Motorcycle champion Mr. Eddie Lawson would come race with us in his Yamaha 250 cc superkart. It was not even a contest when he was on the track. The guy is crazy fast. One year the club did an exhibition race at the Rolex Sport Cars Series (2000 to 2013) that was held in Laguna. Patrick Dempsey was racing Mazda Rotary at the time coming to check out the 250 karts and the drivers as they were just 3 seconds off from the Rolex Series GT Factory Cars (1,000+hp). If I recall correctly, after checking out the kart, Patrick looked at the driver who raced the one 250cc's and said. "you guys are nuts."

GT3s running around the Nordschleife is already super scary, can't imagine with this or an old F1, the drivers back then were absolutely crazy. Or as Niki Lauda said: "My personal opinion is that the Nurburgring is just too dangerous to drive on nowadays,” he said . “On any of the modern circuits if something breaks on my car I have a 70/30 chance that I will be all right or I will be dead. Here, if you have any failure on the car, one hundred percent death. We're not discussing if I make a mistake, but if I have failure on the car. If I make a mistake and kill myself, then tough shit."

In the rain, second corner at Sear Points. Then later at the last right just before the Carrousel. Be honest, the scariest for me was when my front tires overheated. They were my practice tires but gripping so well I decided to keep them on for the next event. Was a Big Willow in Willow Springs CA. Was on my 5th or 6th lap, 1st place. Doing about 105 mph on the long straight and into the left hand bend. Lost complete grip, and understeered at 70+ mph out of the corner and into the gravel. Managed to safe it, and finished 2nd place. Still have the skid plate mounted on my garage wall with all the scratches and rocks hits.

That thing is sick! I'd send it! I've driven fast carts a few times back in the day, almost bought one to race at one point, they're terrifying lol! At 80-90mph an inch off the ground feels like triple that. Scariest thing i've probably piloted ever was a tiny reverse 3 point hydroplane. It was a 10' long closed cockpit with a fighter jet like canopy and a '90hp' Mercury outboard tuned way past 90hp. It was all of about 3 feet wide at the back and had three small zinc 'ski' plates, one up front below the nosecone and two on tiny rear sponsons, the reverse of a normal hydroplane. You had to be delicate with the throttle and jackplate to get it up on plane and not just backflip, and once it was up on step it was terrifying, like being strapped into a sea skimming missile. A mile by half mile lake got real small real fast when i went full send over triple digits with the screaming 2 stroke wide open and everything going blurry from vibration. Doing the run along the opposite shore i hit a bit of my own wake and got squirrely at full send, bouncing from side to side and almost rolling it.

If they want to eject in a crash, Callum should have been wearing motorcycle leathers (like the guy who helped them restart the car), and probably Scott, too. Sliding on that asphalt would have eaten through Callum's jacket and skin in seconds. I'm not sure about Scott's race suit, but I suspect it's more fire protection than friction protection. So cool. As a kid in the early 60's, my dad helped the McColluch Gocart team with local races. He and two coworkers (one was a Master Mechanic) helped tune/fix their engines for the races. These were the old 1/4 to 1/2 mile snaky tracks, nothing like the track in this video. The team had a cart with dual engines - one on each rear wheel - that they did time trials with. Use small local airport runway to time the run. They turned a time of 110 MPH on one run. Quite a feat at the time. Given they were not built like today's carts. So really cool to see this one flying around on a big track.

@@DeFausti if it were regular car racing on ovals i'd somewhat understand your hesitancy to check it out but oval karts are seriously MENTAL. it's a different beast from hopping in a car with a roll cage and racing flat out, you're in a motorized coffin with big them big daytona walls on your outside. youre like inches away from your bum kissing concrete at any given moment. I can't guarantee it'll catch your interest but it's definitely worth checking out since there are some good videos of the experience on youtube, including some karting multiclass on the daytona road course i believe

@@GenuineRage If anything, car racing on ovals is just as intense. Especially dirt. Put Fausti the keyboard racer in a sprint car, and watch his brains turn to mush lol.

You have to try snowmobile drag racing. Or just snowmobile racing... it's totally insane. The drag snowmobiles cram 1000hp under the bonnet... scary fast.

Man. When someone who has driven a f1 car reacts likes this to another car. I’ll take their word for it. The way the last driver reacted was a great moment. Been their the 1st time I drove over 200mph

Was 15 seconds a lap faster The fact that Scott knows the Subaru well distorted the kart times a lot. Example at silverstone the kart time is 2second faster than gt3 race car
