Have you been on a cruise before? On this particular ship? And did you also go to Cozumel? How'd it all go for you?
@GuruChaz3 ай бұрын
My first cruise was a 5 day on the Carnival Triumph in 2013. Somehow I was able to fanangle a balcony room and the cruise for like $700. I think there was a special going on. Keep in mind that's 2013. It went to Progresso, Mexico and then to Cozumel. I did one excursion in Cozumel with the speedboat to Passion Island. I think it's called TWISTER. You put on a life jacket and get in the boat and jam to music doing 1 or 2 donuts in the water on the way to Passion Island and then you hang out on the island for like 3 hours with a free buffet and kayaks and all sorts of stuff to do. At that time, they had massage area where you could get a full hour massage for $35. Way cheaper off the ship. Progresso was eh...just a lot of people trying to sell you stuff. One thing I learned is that you can find some good deals at some of the port shops but you have to be wary at a lot of them so you don't get ripped off in price. One thing that's good to buy when you are in Mexico is their top of the line vanilla extract if you do any cooking at home. On the ship, I believe the Guy Fieri burgers had just opened or been placed on that ship. I loved going out in the evenings and watching the movies on the screen, but we lucked out and had good weather the whole trip. The burgers and burritos and the Mongolian Grill was fantastic. I think I gained 8 lbs on the trip. The general buffet was ok, but I found the seated dining was top notch and is included in your cruise price. We got seated with 4 teachers from Bastrop and had the same assigned dining seats the whole trip. On the very last evening, I found out one of the teachers was Lee Pace's mom. Who is Lee Pace? I didn't know either. He played Thranduil in the 2012 Hobbit movie and is an actor. You never know who you are going to meet. It was very enjoyable. I was so amazed out on the ocean and loved being on the ship. Didn't get any sort of seasickness at all. It's a memory that sticks with you forever. The roughest ship I was ever on was like in 2016ish and it was storming coming back to Galveston. I had video on my phone of the water sloshing out one side of the pool...straight up, coming back down only to slosh up on the other side. It was just a repeat. I had braced myself to get the shot. It was fun for me but probably not for a lot of people. Anyway, that's my summary. A trip you definitely need to go on is the one that stops in Grand Cayman. It also goes to Jamaica but I didn't get off the ship there. Grand Cayman was so awesome that I wish we could have spent 2 days there. I want to eventually go to the Virgin Islands but I don't think Galveston cruises go that far. That's like a Florida trip and extra expense.

I would highly recommend Princess cruises. We went on a 7 day western Caribbean cruise in January and we loved it. Princess is a little less of a party boat and just a good relaxing trip, older crowds. The shows were cool and the cruise directors were fantastic! They have a medallion system instead of a key card and it was awesome, you walk up to the bar order a drink and leave and they dont ask for anything, also they will deliver your food/drinks to you (They can see your location on the ship with the medallion) Plus I loved hearing the love boat theme horn every chance we got.

@GuruChaz oh that's cool about the actor. He was also Ronan in Guardians if the Galaxy. Grand Cayman, I just had a friend tell me that was her favorite spot after going on 7 cruises.

@@TravizFlow omg The Love Boat. That sounds awesome, the medallion thing. And I would like a more toned down experience. The party scene isn't really our thing, so that sounds great.

Awesome... Thank you for taking us along on this journey. I couldn't help but start singing "The Love Boat" theme when y'all were boarding. Stay Savage and looking forward to seeing more of the trip.

I kept singing it too lol. I don't remember if it ever made it on any of the videos though

You're going to be amazed when those grey, oil-induced waves turn into beautiful blue on your trip. Wait until you see it in Cozumel. The less you know on the first cruise, the better...so I'll shut up! lol Oh..except the seated dining is way better than the general buffet.

We are already back. I didn't want to waste time on the ship by editing. We got back on Monday and I've been editing like a madman to get these videos ready.

@@Savagemister Oh ok! I hope you enjoyed the trip and the weather was good. Those ducks you find onboard is sort of like an unspoken game on cruise ships. That one you found is cool because you can fill out a registry online and then, if you want, you can hide that duck on another trip for someone else to find and register. Some just keep them. It depends on the duck. Congrats on your first cruise!

I sailed on the Breeze and loved it, hopefully you do a lot of the fun events they have every day, and of course, go get some ice cream! My record was 52 cones in a week 😂
@Savagemister3 ай бұрын
I certainly did not get anywhere close to that lol, but I did have some here and there. We had an absolute blast. Spent more time in the casino than we should have, but we did pretty well over all. We saw some shows and did some events. The only thing they didn't do that we were kind of expecting was slot and blackjack tournaments. And Josh, who was with us, was hoping for Texas Hold Em Poker, but there was none.......other than the heads up version where you play against the house. Keep watching them as they come out and see how it all went. There will be one each day until they are all up. Each video is one full day.
