We finally did it... (VAN TOUR 2023 - Vintage Bedford CF camper van for hire!)

After 5 gruelling years, our dream has finally come true. Back in 2018 we bought a 1979 Bedford CF from a barn on Bodmin Moor. We had huge plans to convert it in to a bespoke camper van, to hire out and ultimately enable us to travel further for longer.
We had no skillset for such grand designs, but we persevered and the final result was everything we imagined it would be, and then some.
As we were readying ourselves to hire out the van, our lives changed forever as we were offered a dream job; travelling the world and visiting hidden hot springs, with the backing of Japan's equivalent to the BBC.
FIVE years after this van build journey began, we can finally say. WE DID IT!

Well done, nice job, hope it gets loadsa bookings. Could be worth getting some photos & info out to vintage & lifestyle mags/newspaper supplements, may get it included in an article. There's often features on "quirky glamping" etc

And older IIRC Personally if I was going long term travels across Asia it would have to be a Merc 307 or something Japanese. Probably not a VW combi, too obvious. LT35? Commer Autosleeper? Citroen HY?

Lovely to see you both back on screen. Yet, another great adventure albeit of a different kind. A beautiful and stylish rustic makeover. Looks like a lovely place to stay and what a location. I hope this venture goes really well for you and that guests respect and take care of what you have created. PS. we also put a Morrocan sink (in blue) in our wash room here in Japan - cost a fortune to get here, but worth it.

Would love to host you both in the van some time when you’re in the U.K. 😄 Most people have been great and respectful, although there have been some damages (teething problems mainly). The van seems to attract people that are like-minded to us which is nice! Wow that’s some distance for a sink to travel, amazing it didn’t break! So worth it though. 😄

Thank you! And we’ve decided to keep it stationary so we’ve ended up cutting off the fuel tank (great anti-theft device 😂), if we ever sold it on I’m sure someone could get it driveable

I hope this video is a few weeks old because otherwise you've missed the height of the season. Nevertheless, I think you'll get a few takers for this as it's fairly unusual. May I suggest you try advertising on some of the alternative old car sites such as Pistonheads, Autoshite, Retrorides, etc? Is your new van a BMC J4? I can't think of anything much more under dog than that, and I know someone local who sold one not long ago. Best wishes.

You got us there! We did actually film this in late July but ended up being so busy we didn’t get round to editing and uploading this week! Fortunately we had a very good half season and were almost fully booked throughout August- people seem to love it! And that’s a great suggestion! You mean to advertise it as a hire van on those sites? Or just talk about the build? Wow we’d love to have one of those! But sadly not. Definitely have a penchant for old British vehicles though 😂

@@FromRustToRoadtrip That's good news about the bookings, and you'll get word of mouth referrals from happy customers. I meant advertise the van on these sites. In truth I don't know if you can officially, but I'm sure you're both creative enough to find a way around that! Is your new van Japanese?
