Our Story:
We are Carissa, Iwan & Frankie the sausage dog, and in 2020 decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month we were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call home. We picked up Albi, Joao and Simao the cats along the way, as well as Diogo the podengo and a flock of chickens.
Subscribe to follow our project as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

Uncle Nick is such a fantastic guy. He seems to be such a supremely generous guy and so multi talented. You animals are so comfortable with each other, the cat using Diago as a soft bed for example. Thank you so much for sharing.

I love watching your timelapse videos - and what excellent work you all did on the driveway!! I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is completely finished. It's always good to watch the animals, whether they are curled up together sleeping, or pottering about helping you with your chores! The flowers are looking lovely too, and I loved the little drop of water on the leaf (and was willing it to slide off!!)

I really enjoyed watching this. Well done with the progress on the drive. It's great you and Nick swap help, so much better than hiring someone in. are you putting the driveway all the way to the house/s? will you do a looped driveway? what about using the land next door for part of your driveway? or do you have to keep each section of land separate? will you be putting a cement lip to the front of the driveway so it's easier to drive in? Uncle Nick must be a godsend for most of you out there, especially for learning new skills while getting help... love seeing the animals interacting with each other, hah typical cats, will swipe anything comfy for their own, they're so chilled love the wild flowers around your property, so many familiar ones but also some i've never seen, do you forage from those as well? looking forward to the next video thanx for sharing

Brush in a dry mix of 5-1 sand cement into the gaps,that'll set and not be washed out like just sand will ....YNWA

In Denmark we buy “grout sand” to fill the gaps. Very fine sand.

You don't want a driveway TOO level, it has to angle to one side so the water can get off.

You should put at least a misture of sand and ciment between the gaps to lock and avoid herbs. Best of Hapiness :)

I love the way all your animals are so comfortable with each other. I have to keep my cat separate from our dogs at all times. Also, I was wondering if you still have that draught problem in/on your bedroom door? I was going to suggest ships caulking, or you could make your own with very thin cotton rope soaked/overlaid with ordinary caulking (from local DIY hardware store. These would both do the job and ensure your door is properly sealed off from the cold in winter and the heat and dust in summer.

Why don’t you brush in sand and concrete mix then dampen it so it seals the pavers.

You haven't compacted the sand so there will be some sinkage where the walking and vehicles pass.

Responding to my earlier comment, about the music, when people ask my favourite sound, I say the sound of silence, I understand that music choices are bound by legalese, on another aspect, Diego is my favourite, he is such a mischievous darling, sorry Frankie, will always enjoy your videos, you have an artists eye

There is a song and singer, Mariza, she is a Portuguese Fado singer, it is a song first sung by Brazilian slaves, it is a song also sung by the Mother of Portuguese Fado, Amalia Rodrigiuz, it is called Barco Negro, you won’t be able to play this song, but the you tubes will allow you to listen, next song, anything by Bob Marley, but in particular, Redemption song, the is another one called, the streets of London, by Ralph Mc Tell, kisses to Diego and Fatty, yes Frankie is a fatty, don’t everyone get their titties in a twirl, I have one 15 yr old pooch, who only weighs 7 lbs or 3 and a bit kg, I lovingly call him my little fat ferker, change a few vowels, life is short, enjoy it

Streets of London is one of my favourite ever songs! I’ll look for some royalty free fado music.. and maybe a bit of reggae 😉 Frankie has actually managed to to lose 3.3kgs! We back to single figures now!
