I am from Sofia, Bulgaria. Hintertux is 16 hours driving from here (1200km), but it is still worth it. Sadly my plan to go there didn't work out because of Covid :( This year I will be riding only in my country. Can't wait for the resorts to open in the end of December.

@@mgenovski Respect for driving 16 hrs to make your dreams come true ;) We (I mean: me and my friends) are still hoping Austria will not close its borders and ski resorts. Moreover, here in Poland we can see TV advertisements of Austrian resorts every day and they still invite us to go there. And yes, I don't mean ads made by travelling agencies but by Austrian resorts directly. ;) So there is a hope... ;)

I hope the travel restriction ease and you can do a trip!

Get lessons or join a snowboarding camp to get the most out of your trip. You'll progress way quicker! I learnt the hard way and spent wasted days trying to figure it out for myself. I attended my first camp after 5 years of riding and improved dramatically and made some amazing friends from all over the world. One of the best things I've ever done. Buy used gear or hire in case you find snowboarding is not for you. If buying used boots make sure they're not heavily used and that you can try before you buy. Good quality, good condition second-hand jackets, pants, boards, bindings etc are better than cheap brand new stuff in my opinion. Airports are expensive for food and drinks. Feed and hydrate yourself before you travel, although your flight may supply an in-flight meal and drinks. With the current virus situation, most airlines are operating with reduced service and the food will most likely be terrible. Shared room Hostels are normally the cheapest and with self catering facilities you can buy your groceries and make your own meals and packed lunches. Mountain resorts are notoriously expensive for food and drinks, pretty sure that's applicable for anywhere in the world. On site laundry would be a bonus as you'll be able to pack lighter and depending on the length of your stay you could fit everything in one board bag along with your gear. Consider the distance to the slopes, ride in/ride out mountain side accomodation will be expensive. A short walk away isn't a bad thing as it'll serve as a warmup before you ride. If it's a lot further then you'll need to factor in the cost of transport to and from the mountain. Bus fare, hire car, fuel costs, possible tolls and parking fees. Hiring a car from the airport is awesome as you'll be able to explore nearby resorts, towns and tourist attractions. Also very convenient being able to leave for your return flight on your own schedule rather than a set bus schedule where you may be sitting around the airport for a long time. Maybe a hire car would be something more for seasoned travelling riders. Some accommodations offer lift ticket packages or discounts and some snowboarding camps/lessons will include this into the price. Lift tickets can be quite a significant cost, do your research once you've decided on a destination. Learning to snowboard can be pretty exhausting for a beginner so you'll want to assess your current fitness level and prepare accordingly prior to your trip. The last thing you want is not being able to ride everyday because of the lack of fitness or muscluar endurance. Stretch and warmup before you ride to avoid unnecessary injuries which can easily ruin your trip. Focus on learning to ride and leave excessive alcohol/partying until the last day. Nothing worse than trying to learn while hungover and with reduced concentration. This can lead to a bad day and possibly an injury. An apres drink is fine but don't get carried away and drink to excess. Buy travel insurance with snow sports cover. :)

@@xbttrader8451 Holy crap, thank you so much! This was extremely helpful. This will be my second season, but I'm definitely not in shape. I've been using the trip as motivation to work out. And I do plan on getting lessons to improve my riding. It's been the expenses part that's stressing me out lol

Dedicate some time to stretch before and after your workouts, flexibility is an awesome assest to have on the mountain. It's definitely an expensive hobby but we all find a way to make it happen. Cut out as many unnecessary expenses in every day life as you can and save up. Don’t fall into the debt trap of loans and credit cards etc. Are you travelling abroad or just within your home country?

@@xbttrader8451 I'm looking at resorts near my hometown. Didn't really plan on traveling more than a few hours by car. I did an internship for a year and saved up a lot of money to buy some last season gear. Now I just wanted to plan a small trip around new year's. No loans or credit cards here lol
