We Found a $1700 Washer / Dryer Set in the Trash!! Best Find?!

Hi y’all and welcome back! We started out dumpster diving at retail shops, but after not finding much we decided to switch to apartments. Geez.. am I glad we did! Our dryer has been broken for almost a full year now, so finding a working set was such a gift from the dumpster! It was awesome of that man to help us load them, without him we probably would have left them behind.
The washer was making a grinding sound (which is probably why they threw them away) but Alex was able to fix it the problem by super glueing a nickel to wear the plastic part was worn down. Unreal! This was such a huge find for us!

I think you plant stuff for views! I don’t believe you find 99% of what you say you do! You probably place it there and then pretend to come along and find it! All for views! You are disgusting and ridiculous! I live in a fancy apartment and it makes me sick to my stomach when I step onto my balcony where I pay HIGH RENT only to see the likes of people like you running around rummaging thru dumpsters!

Omg, when you were 'thinking about it', my brain was screaming TAKE THEM!! They def looked newer and even if you had to spend a little to fix something, it would be so worth it. We look things up on youtube as well and find fixes there - thankfully people share their knowledge!!

I’m extremely happy for you & Alex that the washer & dryer set worked properly. It just needed a little elbow grease & ingenuity. 💖💖💖 I have found an air purifier & a medium size table while I was going to work. I’m glad that the air purifier works good. It needs an extra filter. 💖💖💖

Vent tunnels and water cords. That is so sweet, we love Alex. I was so worried for a minute they were just taking the dryer not the pair! Especially with a moldy smell to their old one...yikes..that's the worst. They were meant to find this very nice looking washer and dryer...Pilgrim would be overjoyed, like chasing his squirrels on the fence kind of joy. Blessed with a guy who popped out of his apartment to help load it...totally meant to be. A mystery when they looked so good that someone wouldn't have them repaired vs replaced, so glad that they did and glad they were out there to be found. There is a tutorial for everything these days, hilarious to use a nickel instead of a dime given the dimensions am glad it fit....whatever works to save some pennies!

Awesome find. So happy for y’all!!!My husband and I moved into our house and the previous owner had left their washer and dryer. My niece cam to visit and was in need of a washer and dryer so we gave them our washer and dryer that we had just bought less than two years prior. Low and behold the washer and dryer broke down within a week of each other. After a couple days of research on good ole KZfaq, we figured out what was wrong and were able to fix them both for less than 70 dollars. Still working strong a year later

Great appliance find! Things are not built to last like they used to be. So many plastic parts now that used to be metal. I love that others have put all the how-to videos on KZfaq to help us do the DIY fix. ❤

I found a lot of usable things curbside this past Sunday: new makeup, shampoo, body wash, weekend suitcase; two purses; two black wire organizers; a gold wire mail organizer; heavy metal "Dream" sign; jar of Regenerist by Olay; bottle of Victoria Secret's lotion (pump didn't work, but I was able to fix it). I love sharing this with you both.

Kelly, I am ELATED for you and Alex with your New-To-You Washer and Dryer pair!! You can make some extra money by taking your old pair to Fulton's Recycling on Fort Worth Drive, you'll need to register with them if you've never been there before, and then weigh in with the appliances in your truck, dump them off in the salvage yard, and re-weigh.... you'll be paid the difference between the weigh-in and weigh-out... which will sweeten the Appliance Find even more! :-) I'm so happy for you both! Power cords are interchangeable. The one off your old dryer should fit that one.

Looks like the apt complexes took down the makeshift compost spaces. That was so nice that the guy helped with the dryer. Wonderful find and awesome that Alex was able to fix the issues! Did the blinds fit?

When my sister moved to the state Im in they didn't have a washer or dryer. Literally while we are driving to carry the uhaul back we passed a man putting a washer and dryer on the curb. I stopped and asked if he was throwing them out. He said they had just bought new ones (upgraded) and these worked fine. He didn't want to pay someone to haul them off, didn't have time to mess with selling them and was putting them on curb with a free sign. We loaded them up, took them back to her house. That was 8 years ago. They are still going strong. Sometimes things just happen right when you need them.

Wow...Congrats!! I need a find like that. My washer is broken so I am having to go to laundry and was clothes and I hate it. My husband recently died so I have no one to try and fix it or to help me get a new one. I am disabled and can't do it alone. That is wonderful blessing for you and Alex and you both deserve it and more. I have huge hearts are always giving back so God Blessed You!!! So happy for you!!

I love my toaster oven and use it ALL THE TIME!! You can pretty much bake anything in it you want that will fit that you would do in a normal oven. A lot cheaper to run than a big oven for small things and faster to preheat. We do small batches of the break and bake cookies in it all the time. Nice treat to have them warm and fresh and not have to do the whole package at once. Well you never HAVE to but you know what I mean😉. So excited for you two that the washer and dryer worked!! That is so awesome!! If the other washer still works put it on the curb for free or something. I am sure someone would be happy even if it works for just another year. Again...YAY for you two!!!!
