The quad isn't in great shape as you could imagine for $500 but we have faith we can get it running and driving in no time. The Banshee 350 is the bike of choice for the bikelife movement and we couldn’t be more excited to rebuild the bike a learn how to properly wheelie and send it!

My favorite description came from Dirtwheels in 1987 when it first came out: "It sounds like 2 chainsaws trying to eat each other". Please please please, nobody destroy a usable Banshee. It deserves a good restoMod and then to be used.

To everyone wondering where they found a $500 banshee. They live in Northern Idaho. I live in Utah and the market is similar. Out here in the west machines like that just aren't as desirable as they are in other places. I'm not saying every thing out here is cheap but if you look consistently you can find two to three screaming deals a month and if you're quick you can score them. I personally have gotten a $500 ATC 350X, a $100 Honda fourtrax 300 4x4 with title, and a $1000 turboed snowmobile with 1500 miles. *All machines ran when I bought them*

I'll tell you the same thing I told CarsAndCameras. You need to put a couple 'trail cams' like hunters use around your property set up to activate when motion is detected, record for 10 or 15 seconds, and shut back down. I think you'll catch some interesting clips of jumps and fast passes and things like that it you put them in good places, and wont have to plan ahead to have someone already be standing there with a camera or drone or the 360cam etc.

The prices will go down in the future. Guaranteed. As soon as the hype goes down. Watch😁 plus depends where your at in the country. Where I'm at, nice clean banshees go for about 3 or 4k. Sometimes find one for 2500 if your lucky, fixer uppers 700$ to ..1500$ on the high if there gouging for a clapped out one that barly runs. Then again people will rip you off at any price..all that said I've seen people luck out and get a nice barn find for 500 to 1500$..ya never know.

Out here in Puerto Rico, it’s common to see 10+ Banshees mobbing up a mountain road. Every time I see (and smell one) I miss mine. Glad you guys scooped one up!

Banshees were such a dream of mine growing up dirtbiking. I like to imagine how fun of a road vehicle they would be too with road tires and suspension setup. Acceleration of a motorcycle plus the stability of 4 wheels and being able to turn and brake hard. The ultimate vehicle on pavement. It's too bad they don't allow them when they allow motorcycles and those silly 3 wheel vehicles.

They are fun but had a weird powerband, not much torque and always side pulled, you can kind of see it in vid. ATC 250r would take them until you ran out of gears. That said my buddy road ran his a lot and kept messing with gearing until he got it up to 115 mph. In the end it's a twin two stroke and you have to pay for the power with constant rebuilds so personally I would take a 450r atc today. I would like to see them race the two.

@@69jbr69 Well yeah obviously a 4 stroke would be better for long term on the roads but still. Road banshee would be really fun. There would be nothing that could touch it in a city environment with low traffic. On the big open roads yeah a more powerful vehicle with more weight would be better but in small twisty suburb areas with lots of turns, it would just absolutely dominate. I forget what that 4 stroke competitor to the banshee is but I'm sure that would be awesome too. Just sacrifice a little bit of weight for wider power band better mileage less rebuilds.

The Banshee is technically a "swap" from the factory. The EPA did away with 2-stroke street bikes (new models) in 1985. So Yamaha modified their RZ350 street bike engine design for use in a new quad....

I’ve had three Banshee’s. I wrecked my last one really bad. Broke my right hip, back, pelvis, left shoulder, left cheek and eye socket (with a full face helmet mind you), and on and on and on, literally around 20 bones. Especially if you count all the subtle ones your sinuses are made of. On my first Banshee I broke my right elbow and right collar bone (two separate incidents). Banshee’s deserve respect! Now that I’m an old man, a father, and half titanium, I ride around on my tame Raptor 700 lol.

A friend of mine had a Banshee and he ended up taking a bad spill on a jump because he sat down as he rode it. (inexperienced driver) I had the opportunity to drive it home for him. Damn, it was some of the most fun I've ever had riding. Coming from lots of years on a dirt bike.

Banshee owner here. Nah they really weren't they are extremely primitive machines even for when they were released. This engine was originally on the Yamaha RD350 but that one had a powervalve. The banshee didn't which gave it the crazy two stroke powerband that we all love. It was just an air-cooled 2 stroke street bike motor with the powervalve jerked off and stuck onto a four wheeler with the most basic suspension humanly possible for the time. Extremely fun mind you but even when it was built it was out of date they didn't even use the powervalve. Lol Gotta love two strokes though emissions killed em but my God are they fun! Incredibly simple I can rebuild a banshee motor faster than I can rework the head on my yz450f

That would be the Honda 250r. The banshee had very poor geometry for motocross and cross country. The trx450r still shares parts with the 250r

Banshees are so much fun. They're just a bit narrow and short wheel based for the power. I remember seeing a single carb intake for those back in the late 90's that could be made in a few hours(in case you're wondering why one carb would be better than two, aside from the adjustment issues, the principle is a single 2 inch pipe can flow more than two 1 inch pipes). I did get to ride one with a 500 kit on it. Almost too much fun. Almost.

The body is all there and in pretty good shape and looks to be in way too good of shape for the deal quads that are usually out there. $500 for any Banshee is a steal regardless of condition and anyone who would be willing to sell one in that condition for that cheap is shady as fuck.

@@earlgunman6325 I paid 400 for my old 400ex it was clean A.F. with title and ran like new. Had it for many years. Sometimes people just do want stuff anymore. Just because its cheap doesn't make it shady. My guess would be it wasn't running right ND the previous owner didn't know how to fix it. And didn't want to pay to have it fixed. And prices are different all across the country. Maybe quads are cheaper in there area because they have snow 60% of the year.

You need to do a TORS (throttle override switch) delete kit, and get rid of the "boost bottle" that does absolutely diddly squat for performance, and will crack the intakes, and cause a lean condition. Replace it with the factory equalizer tube.

I miss my old Banshee YZF 350 R . Had it all set up for flat track and raced the crap out of it . Super fun and super fast .

The rev issue is the TORS (throttle override system) that is supposed to be a safety system. I have a 98 banshee and did the tors delete because mine was just like that.

Yamaha Banshee is the best ATV ever actually it could be the best vehicle ever! That thing is indestructible I mean just look at that running as good as any brand new one but this thing is probably like 20years old or something and towing a bmw! Rocking like always!! Yamaha is the best and the banshee is just one of the evidences!!!

As a banshee enthusiast I was rather happy to hear you guys are fixing it instead of tearing it apart but as a grind hard fan I'm kinda disappointed you guys arnt turning a monster with an already massive reputation into a completely new monster of its own kind

Good trick for the float valve is to take a q-tip put it in the drill and use lapping compound(toothpaste works) and polish it

Ohhh I want a banshee so badly. I have a blaster 200 fully built. It’s widened and has full tread street meat on it. She will do 130 all day easily but damn the sound of a two cylinder two stroke is just damn 🤤🤤🤤Love it felllas keep it coming

Use some polishing compound on a q-tip chucked up in a power drill for troublesome needles and seats 👍

Man I can’t believe you got that for 500 bucks. The guy who sold it gotta be kicking himself that it was such a simple fix. I’ve seen ones that didn’t run or have a title going for 1800 or more.

Im a Huge Yammy Fan and Love Banshees! Never had 1 but i have a yfz450r fuel injected and its badass but its not a 2 stroke and i grea up on Yz 85 125 250 and need that childhood Feeling Again

Should really consider getting rid of the Tors boxes on top of the carbs. Motion pro makes a kit for that. Makes tuning so much easier

dang that sure was a score. i member my 89 banshee with J arms had extended rear axel of 6inch on twist trottel . scary fast yall need some new tread for your front tires. can definely increase your time score on the track

i miss mine sooo damn much...on a dirt road it would get sideways and spin tires in EVERY gear!!! 2nd gear i could wheelie without popping the clutch...all power wheelie. on asphalt of course. good vid.

Need to do the lap again but hold it to the wall and leave in 2nd gear ground is loose enough to take it no problem and go with carbon fiber reeds and a single k&n air filter per carb the bike should pick up a lot of power
