Sope started with the vlive combinations, if I remember correctly. V and Jimin had "mandako" (satoori coaching), RM and JK did "1 min English", Jin has "Eat Jin" and these two did "Hwagae market". The door opening part of the choreo in the beginning of the song is from their vlive openings too. This is one of the funniest things undoubtedly. And in Japanese.

by the way, as far as i've heard, this is a completely made up song that was created from the phrase that j-hope often literally sang to their japanese staff after concerts - you have worked hard. it made so much more sense when i heard the origin story😭

That's true. It began I believe when they were on tour in Osaka during ?Wings. But a few years ago backstage Hobi began to hum that phrase to that melody he made up on the spot. Over time, he added more to the song, with Yoongi on board almost from the start, finally adding choreography to perform it live as Sope . They've since performed it with everyone during 4th Muster in Japan. Sope and this song are both so precious to ARMY.

Otsukare is a Japanese phrase that means “You look tired” or “You are tired”: You say it to people who have worked to mean “Thank you for your hard work”. This is why you see celebrities say it to their staff at the end of a concert, photo shoot, etc. The Korean word for this is “Sugo hae seo” or “sugo hasyeotseumnida”

I fluent in Japanese but it means “You have worked hard”. I know you said that’s how they say it to each other but that’s exactly what it means. It doesn’t really mean “You look tired” Just thought I’d let you know☺️🙏💜

When SOPE do the door opening movement, at the beginning of their performance, it symbolizes two things, SOPE coming together and the opening of Hwagae market. JHOPE is from Gwangju and Suga from Daegu which are towns in 2 of South Korea's southern provences. There is a history of these two areas not getting along. Hwagae market was located between then and was sort of neutral ground. I don't know a lot about SK history so I can't give all details but I like how these guys can take from their histories and make their friendships even stronger through it.

You know what, This song has an interesting story. After a concert in Japan years ago, Hobi randomly sang the sentence "Ostukare samadeshita" in a melody because Japanese use this idiom to call it a hard-working day. Then, Hobi just created a whole song based on it with a Japanese composer so these 2 own the copyright on it. Although Yoongi doesn't own the copyright on it, it is confirmed that he contributed to make it, so Sope were the original performers of this song. But for whatever reasons, this song became their main promotion song in Japan, so you can find a ot7-version of it P/s: Sorry. My English sucks

imo i feel like yoongi being the “low energy” member is a bit of a misconception. he can be just as loud and energetic as the others ESPECIALLY with J-Hope. like “turn your volume down” loud lol. i think a lot of people tend to think he doesn’t say much when they see him in American/English interviews. He’s said that sometimes he feels nervous speaking English so his silence may come off as being shy or conservative. but with his members/korean interviews, he speaks quite a lot

When I think of j-lhope I think of a bright angel-his chosen avenue of expression being rap/dance-i've yet to see anything to tarnish his smile-which really should be a preemptive miracle - 1 more and he could be canonized as a saint! Suga's smile is all humility and bereft of any malicious intent - that these 2 young men should take time to uplift our lives speaks to their ability to channel love/acceptance and I not only get it I thank y'all

To aswer your wondering how J-Hope approached Suga to do this song with him...it was actually the other way around!!! This song came about when J-Hope would say/sing "Otsukare sama deshita!" (which is a popular japanese phrase) to the Japanese staff at their Japanese venues and he thought it would make a great song. He was planning on doing it alone when SUGA approached HIM and said he wanted to perform this song with him!!! XD

New sub here. Your perception of Yoongi would change if you got to know him a bit more. He's actually a sweet, goofy guy. Also, when Yoongi is feeling low energy, he asks for Hobi. It's actually the most enduring thing. Hobi could get Yoongi to do anything. Also, they switch personalities when they are drunk 🤗

After finishing work, We often say, "お疲れさまでした Otsukare - samadeshita " means "Good job." It's a common word used in business scenes in Japan . I think they often heard about it when they worked with Japanese staff😆

I am a baby army so I thought the "boy with luv sope moments" in the choreography were the cutest but I recently came across this song and man was I smiling like an idiot all the way! SOPE has to be the most legendary team. I was surprised to see their friendship blossom. They are the definition of opposites attract. J-hope actually said that Suga was the first one in the team (RM, Suga, J-hope) to talk to him. He also noted that he would follow Suga everywhere and sit at his feet while Suga worked on his rap and Suga got so uncomfortable that he finally told him to go do something else. That was one of the reasons he decided to learn how to rap.

Suga and J Hope have a really special relationship. Suga was the first one to speak to J Hope when he first came to their dorm to become a traine, he made him feel comfortable and took care of him, and for Suga, J Hope is like his vitamin, he gives him energy. So even if they might seem like opposite poles they complement each other pretty well. That's why we say "Yoongi will never do that, unless it's with Hobi" 😂 As you keep watching their shows, more content, you will notice how close they are, and how Suga is always looking for J Hope and how J Hope always thinks that Suga is cute 😂

believe it or no Yoongi has a big soft spot for Hoseok 💓 they’re really cute and fun together when you see Yoongi alone he may look intimidating and serious etc but once you put him besides Hoseok he breaks out character and lets out his fun dorky and goofy side too, i think he just really trusts Hoseok a lot also in the last anniversary video of festa that they did Hoseok said that before D-2 dropped he texted Yoongi and they both went out to drink together and Hoseok said that Yoongi told him about how he feels and stuff like that... you can tell Hoseok is kind of a comfort to Yoongi ☺️

The history behind this song is that during their Wake Up tour in Japan in 2015 on about the second or first night during their ending comments Hobi freestyled what ended up being the chorus. It was a huge hit and so it became a tradition during the tour and the following Japanese tours until Hobi and Suga made it into a full song which they then performed for the first time live at this muster. The earliest video I've been able to find of it being performed is from about the third night of the Wake Up Japanese tour.

This is a music genre called Trot, which was very popular in Korea and Japan for decades & is still popular with the older generation. This is the genre that Jimin, JK and V sing in the karaoke version of Ego in BTS Festa 2020!
