After having the close call on Day 3, Dale again heads to another drainage to try to turn up some new deer to look over. Not finding much, he vows to go back to the original spot and give it his best effort. On the last day, he’s found a buck worth going after and makes a move to get in position for a chance at his first Nevada buck.

Excellent hunt Dale. I really like his quiet and humble demeanor. Lots to be learned from watching him dissect the terrain and find a dandy buck. Thanks for keeping it about the hunt by showing us terrain and deer. So many videos focus on cooking and camp time.

What. A freaking. Grind. Good on you for the mental toughness to stick that week out. I can't imagine how itchy my finger would've been, seeing deer but not seeing THE deer, and feeling that "oh no, put one on the ground, don't waste the tag" feeling. Congratulations.

Maybe it is just because I am so much older, but that first day 4 point would have been just all right. Great hunt, very informative, great to watch. And I don't have top hump up and down the mountain to do so. And patience paid off with the best buck seen.

Enjoyed every day. Again good video to work with and great job editing. Sometimes you give us the yardage on screen and that's interesting. I think Dale said it but I couldn't make it out. The first shot looked perfect. I am not sure how you could let us know where you hit him without getting the experts criticising you. I assume it was further back than you wanted because of the way he humped up and survived to the second shot - unless the second missed. I noticed we didn't see it or hear where the second one hit. Those details are interesting. Regardless, I enjoyed the hunt and Dale did his ad libs like a pro.

I also saw the deer hump- up. I kind of think that 7mm 160 gr. accubond is a little too stout for deer. Elk and moose would give it something to dig into. Great video.
@trpwalcott
@trpwalcott 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidderr2662 "too stout" meaning what?
@davidderr2662
@davidderr2662 2 жыл бұрын
@@trpwalcott Hello. My point was that bullet is very heavily constructed-bonded and requires a substantial resistance to perform optimally. Accubonds retain about 80- 90% recovered. Did it kill the deer, yes. Would a Nosler partition or a Hornady interlock killed quicker? They expand fast and retain 50-65% recoverd. I say yes. I have killed my share of Antelope, deer and Elk with partitions and interlocks. I have 2 boxes of 30-06 165 Underwood. Have not used yet. JMO.

Dale, I don’t think I heard how far the shot was? Good shot, but even better demonstration of patience… I thought the solo hunter might get your buck, but the terrain seem to have had him occupied as they bugged out. Glad you had a successful hunt and Happy Anniversary to you and the misses.

Hunting public land, is just that public. I sat a big draw full of does and spikes waiting for a bigger buck in November 2021 to be unhappy that my honey hole was covered in people within 30 minutes of me showing up. Unless you are hunting private land, and have a sole lease to it or own it you can't control who is on a property. I hunted a private land Aoudad hunt in West Texas on a 500,000 acre ranch. Even then we had to deal with the cowboys moving cattle, illegal aliens and family visiting ranch hands and blowing a stock.
