Cody has reached the S tier of being a dad, he's cuddling the cats he didn't want, and reprimanding us on not spending enough time with him 😂

The dog's reaction to the kittens is actually really positive, even though he's a bit overexcited at the moment. Kittens get used to anything, so as they grow they will start playing with him. And/or ganging up on him like a pair of raptors. Either way; fun times.

kittens are super adaptive at that age, so this is the perfect scenario for potentially adopting cats when you have a dog. they’re unsure of chili right now which is fine, you just got to give it time and take their introductions slow but they’ll get used to him eventually. they might be hissy/take a few swipes at him in the beginning, that’s not a concern, they’re small things trying to defend themselves from someone they’re not sure is friend or foe. also chili’s excitement in wanting to play is great, kittens are VERY high energy, so as soon as they decide chili is a friend all three will be tearing through the house he’ll love it

Don’t worry Chili will get used to them and they’ll get used to him with time. This tends to happen with dogs and cats meeting each other, dogs tend to just have more energy. It does help that they’re kittens so eventually they’ll want to engage with and play with him.

Kittens will hiss and get defensive a lot when they're that young with another animal in the house. Just give it time and they'll get used to Chili. He just has a lot of energy and they can pick up on that. One they get used to being there and get to explore more and settle down, they'll get along.

Thee best thing I had someone tell me when I got a cat was to learn their language. Cats are Drastically different than dogs with how they communicate, their boundaries etc. Like slow blinking means they feel safe/love you, when they loaf it means they’re relaxed waiting for the next activity, like these little things made me love my cat so much more. People just don’t like cats because they aren’t like dogs, which isn’t faaair! they’re completely different animals it’s an entirely different world you have to learn :,) Equally! As loving and affectionate but they show it differently

Fostering cats is a gate way to owing cats. I fostered my pepperoni boy for a week and now here I am 6 cats later.

Lol loved the bird and cat talk. When my roommates bought a dog he acted the exact same way. The chaos in the house never evened out, but the cat got used to how the dog played and they became buds though.

I used to have a cockatiel a couple months ago and I don’t think over ever loved anything more in my life, birds are the purest souls I’ve ever held in my hands. They are the best at cuddling hands down. Love them, get one if you never thought about it, I’m 100% sure it will change your life.

I got a dog last year and he was the same with My cat, who is already 5 so getting a dog as big as I did, 75 lbs threw him for a loop but they get along great now it just takes them time. Hope all goes well with the potential new additions!

I have a very energetic dog and got a kitten about 7 months ago and my dog was the SAME way at first, but after about 2 weeks of giving the dog his own space and making sure the kitten had his own space but could have access to the dog when he wanted. They are partners in crime now. Give it time! Dog and cat relationships are the cutest❤️.

My friend also fostered kittens. She has 5 cats now.

It takes a while but the animals will get along eventually. When my parents got their first cat one of our dogs was completely obsessed with it and it was kind of a problem. After a while though they learned to deal with each other and they get along fine now.

I will say, with the dog/cat dynamic, I have experience! Just keep trying, it takes time. I have a cat who was introduced to a German shepherd dog when I moved into my current living situation. They needed some time to work it out, the dog really wanted to love the cat and play with him but because the dog was big the cat was nervous. But now, they’re like best friends. It took probably a good month or two for them to kinda settle down. But kittens especially are pretty amiable and (at least in my opinion/experience) are easier to introduce to other pets than older animals, just because everything is new and their experiences with dogs can be positive from the start

I hope no matter what, those two bonded kitties stay together forever! Cats are always better, happier, & healthiest in pairs+!

My father was not a fan of cats at all, but got me a cat for support through health when I was fifteen, a day later he’s in love with him. He wasn’t sure about adopting another one, but same story 2.0, he loves both cats so much, it’s very sweet.

Fostering kittens is the most rewarding thing especially when they’re so little or sick and you see them grow 😩

As a cat and dog mom it takes time depending on the animal. Just make sure you have a spot the cats can "escape" to flee and feel safe. We have never kept the pets separated though. They have free roam of the house. And we have a latch on our bedroom door so the cats can go in the room but the dogs can't fit in the gap. The cats will eventually start playing with Chili. They'll come up with their own little games. I'm so excited y'all got cats. Be prepared to fall in love. And that is one Hell of a coincidence for them to be named Dove and Sparrow. It's a sign from the cat gods 🤣

as a person who has three cats and two dogs, our dogs would bark and wanna play and sniff them all the time but you really just have to keep an eye on them to make sure the dog or cat don’t hurt each other and honestly just give it time. they just need time to get use to each other

Wow! Sparrow and Dove. Talk about Serendipity! 💗 I can totally relate though! I was looking for a cat last year and met a few but didn't feel that "spark" ir thing that told me this cat was meant for me until I met this one cat. She was super sweet, cuddly, and affectionate from the get go, (and she wiggle wormed on the floor and showed her tummy which is a sign that the cat trusts you and is comfortable). I immediately filled out the paperwork and brought her home! The craziest thing.. her name is "Graphite" which is an art material and I am an art teacher!! So yeah, it definitely felt like fate and now I am a full time cat mom. Anyways, good luck to you and Kelsey with you fur babies! 😊

i really recommend getting a gate and letting ur dog watch the kitten play through the doorway, and encourage the kittens that they don’t have to be scared by playing with them and giving them food and pets while chili is separate but not yk? the kitties just need to be confident and know they can get away if they’re actually scared/in danger
