omg he's sooooooo cute!!! Congrats on your new baby :-) If he cries in the crate, try putting in one of your or Josh's shirts in the crate with him, that way he can smell you know know you are near. Or, try leaving on a very low volume radio, or even a clock so he can hear the ticking to keep him company. also, always reward him when he goes in his crate. make his crate his safe haven. Here's a general tip (sorry, it's the vet tech in me), I'm sure they told you at your vet, but don't take him out in public (dog park, pet store, etc.) until he is fully vaccinated, which will be at 16 weeks old. The distemper/parvo vaccine takes several boosters before he is fully protected. Parvo can live in the soil for up to a year, so that's why it's important for him not to go in public places. Again, congrats to you guys. Dude is precious :-)

Our GSD/Pit loved her crate when she was a puppy. we would leave the door open and she would just go in there for naps during the day and at night she knew that it was time for her last pee of the day and then she would run into her crate, get a biscuit and sleep for the night. When we adopted our Carolina Dog, he was 1.5 years old, never been outside and terrified of the crate. All he wanted was to sleep beside our bed. Now they both sleep in our room, not in crates, but with the same routine of last pee, bed and biscuit and that is them till our alarm goes off at 6am.Dude is gorgeous and I wish you many years of happiness.

With our puppy, in the very beginning we had his crate in the bedroom so he knew he wasn't alone. Then once we moved him out we put a blanket over the crate at night time. I also would recommend blow drying him after a bath, because their hair can get really matted at the root if not dried properly. He's adorable, can't wait to watch him grow!!

We found that it really helped our cocker spaniel to put a blanket over the cage so it covered up the top and sides but the front was open. This allowed him to lay down and be calm instead of seeing everyone walk by which caused him to get so excited. It just seemed to help him know it was time to be good and go night night. We have a 10 yr old Goldendoodle. She has been the BEST dog I've ever known. Smart, sweet, obedient and sooo loving to everyone and everything. We only kept her in her crate during the day when we were gone for the 1st year as she didn't need it after that. They love to be with their humans as much as possible and seem to do best in the bedroom at night to stay with their pack. ENJOY every minute with your sweet little Dude. He is a DOLL!!

I have a Goldendoodle. Her first birthday was yesterday. Dude is adorable. I bet he will be a pretty big boy. My girl was 15 lbs at 14 weeks and at a year she is 51 lbs. Do keep the crate in a central area which I see you have. Get a crate with room to grow instead of getting a crate each time he outgrows one. At night, we turn off the lights and cover her crate with a blanket. It has worked well. She is so good in her crate overnight. She whines in the morning because she needs to go potty and then eat, but otherwise she is awesome in her crates. She rarely barks which I love. They are great dogs.

He's adorable! I have a puppy too and we have his bed in his crate with one toy and he loves going there now. He did cry at night for the first month (3 months) but now he's 7 months and he grew out of that fairly fast. I also throw his towel or blanket over his crate when it's bedtime so he doesn't want to go out if he sees you. Try to put him to bed around the same time to get a routine down because they need that😊🐶🐶

He is super adorable! I have a golden retriever who acts like Dude but my golden has doggie anxiety. Any sudden movements or different noises makes him very nervous. He actually is on a medication for his anxiety.

I have a 4 yr old golden retriever/lab mix and this makes me wish he was a puppy again. I carried him everywhere because I knew he was going to get so big. He's +100 lbs now and the vet guessed 75 lbs! I made sure to start teaching him tricks when he was only 8 weeks old to keep him busy and happy learning. Dogs love to learn and please their parents (owners). My dog has never eaten or damaged anything in our house, and I really attribute it to the training and time spent with him as a puppy. Congrats, guys!

He is so lovely. I hope he settles down soon for you. When we got our puppy, we put a small (warm) hot water bottle in his bed, wrapped up in a towel and then a small clock above the bed. We were told it makes the puppy snuggle into the warmth thinking it's their mother and the ticking is her heartbeat. It really worked! After a few days he settled down at night, on his own in the kitchen.

He is so cute and so laid back. My dogs love their cage. I have one in the office down stairs they go into when everyone is gone and one in our bedroom that they only really go in at night when we all go to bed. I tried leaving them down stairs at night but it wasn't working very well. They sleep great in our room so it worked out. I purchased our 2 crates like you have on Amazon. We did have 2 cockers that we kept with us at all times except for when we let them stay together before they got picked up to go with the dog sitter for the day. With us working long hours it was not fair to leave them alone for 14-16 hours a day. Yes proudly spoiled both of our 4 paw girls they were the best dogs. Everyone who met them could see how obedient and loving they were. Just sharing our experience no judgement on how anyone raises dogs or kids. He is yours. ❤️🐾❤️

I recently put down a deposit for a golden doodle and I am so excited. Mine is a miniature goldendoodle and the mom is a f3 sable colored which is crossbred between a f1 and f1b and the dad is a phantom poodle. My puppy should be around 20-25 pounds full grown. Watching your video makes me so excited for my puppy.

Yes leave the crate open throughout the day so he can go in when he want to not when he just needs to. Also get him a Kong if u haven't already and you can PB in there. Can even put it in the freezer to have the PB not easily gone. We have two yellow labs and with the kong helps him want to go in cage. He's so adorable congrats guys!! Make sure to have plenty of chew toys so they can teeth on them instead of furniture.

I love my Bella Rose (F1)..best decision I ever made as a pet! Mine never cried...except when I walk away from her :-( She just turned 1 year and 4 months old... I've never gotten tired of her energy and love her even though I'm 64 years old. Keeps me young!

We crate trained both of our adult rescue dogs just this past year. I think the big thing was feeding them in there for their meals. We feed them through their kong toy which they really love. Also, we always keep the door open and had a fuzzy mat inside for them as well. I would say about after a couple weeks when we would just be sitting at home they would often be in their crate napping because they loved it so much :).

Honestly with our pup the biggest thing that got her used to the crate was time. The first month or so was hard but after that she did pretty good. As far as toys our yellow lab is a big chewer so any plush/soft toys she chews. I recommend Kong brand toys which you can get at most pet stores and West Paw Design toys are our pups favorite and they are made from recycled materials and you can usually find them at local pet boutiques or online. Congrats puppies/dogs really are an amazing addition to your family!

Our vet suggested feeding inside the crate. Works well for when guests are over or multiple pets. Our dog loves his crate. The first three nights he cried we shook a metal can full of pennies. I read it online and after only one can shake we had no issues.

When i was crate training my aunts dog we used a night light or fairy light, a bully stick for a snack, some toys, and a soothing sound, and a humidifier is optional. But that really worked for our golden doodle.

Love this vid! I am getting a goldendoodle in about 6 weeks, June 1-5 hopefully, and my family has purchased so many books and movies so we are really trying to do our research. For the crate, I would say to just try and make it as homey as you can, put a blanket in there, some chew toys etc. if possible. Thanks for sharing the exciting news! Oh and btw my dog that we have now uses his crate (wasnt ever crate trained, he sometimes goes in his crate when he starts acting up like when he starts peeing in the house when we're away, we'll put him in his crate when we leave). We put blankets in it and a toy and when we leave we give him a treat when he goes in

You can try putting the crate next to your bed initially. If he cries don't take him out but put your fingers through the bars that way he can smell you lick you get a little comfort but still not get his way out of the crate. If he cries incessantly he probably needs the bathroom.

This video is giving me so much nostalgia right now!!! Makes me miss when my sweet doodle, Lilly, was a little baby! She's about 60lbs and my grandparents have a male doodle, he's around 90lbs so he's definitely a big boy just like Dude will be too! Lils is kennel trained & I ended up putting her bed inside her crate and then eventually just put some fleece blankets in there now that's she a big girl. I could never leave her in her crate at night so she's been sleeping with me since she was a baby. They keep you extra warm at night ;)

As he gets older but him a bigger crate, but a decent sized bed and put it in the crate, I did that for my dog and she's a Bichon Poodle and she loves her crate. And when we leave her home alone we tie her leash to the crate so that way she still has freedom to walk around, but she can still go into the crate if she wants to!

Congrats on the new family member...super cute. A thing I use to do when I had a puppy was taking an old shirt that I wouldn't mine using ever again and wear it so that my smell would stay on the shirt, then I would put that in the puppy's bed so that it would feel and sense I was close to him and wouldn't cry at night. It work with my beagle. Another thing someone else recommend I do is to wrap around that same shirt a small ticking clock (the ones that makes noise) so that the dog feels it's snuggeling close to you as it hears the ticking noise... like a heart beat (I've never tried that). But who knows it might work. Good luck and hope it gets better.
