Owning backyard chickens has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and that dream has finally come to life!! We bruded several batches of chicken s and ducks in our living room with a swimming pool a chicken wire to keep them from flying out. and a light to keep them warm. showed them their water and food

Me and my parents have been talking about getting chicks, we have a hardware store that has them. We are researching about how to take care of them. We would have to set up a brooder for them so this video is very helpful. Thank you 😊

My family has kept backyard chickens for most of my life in a small suburban area and I can proudly say it is a fun thing to do with your kids ❤️ it’s so awesome to watch little ones grow up understanding the value of treating animals well and saving money with home grown eggs! I’m hoping to in the near future start my own little chicken farm with my babies after my husband is out of the military ❤️ I wish you luck on your feathery journey 🐥

I know this is a weird question but what color are the eggs? I've had a couple and some lay green eggs and some lay blue eggs.

I’m getting my chicks tomorrow. I’m getting three at Spike and Houle’s, and they are silkies. We are very very excited and converting our treehouse into a coop!

Yay so exciting!! I’ve had backyard chickens for about 6 years now and I love it so much!! It is the best decision my husband and I ever made. We just got 6 chicks about 3 weeks ago..you will be amazed at how fast they grow! Good luck and have fun!

Ameraucanas can lay 3-4 eggs per week, depending on their exact genetic makeup. Also be careful, some disreputable sellers spell it “Americana,” with an i, and this is not a real Ameraucana. If you want a more dependable blue egg layer, try the Whiting True Blue.

I have backyard chickens in the middle of the city and I LOVE THEM! Chickens are so so easy to raise and take care of, they are very low maintenance animals. I got ducks last year too and wow... very messy.

We had some a couple years ago and it was such a wonderful experience. They were so cute and sweet, every evening we would let then free range and feed them treats and just watch them hang out. They were good layers as well. I miss them after watching this 😭😭

A brooder really shouldn’t be a last minute thing..it should be set up with the warmer going for a day or so. You also need a bigger brooder, and ditch the lamp, get a flat plate warmer, it’s safer, and in a smaller brooder it won’t heat up the whole thing so they can’t get cooler if they need to. Plastic totes just aren’t good. Check out Gail Damerow’s books on chick Brooding for these issues..!

so cute!! my father in law built my son a chicken coop for his birthday last year (he turned 4 lol), but it's more of a palliative care coop haha. when we get more land I would love to have free range chickens!
