The track is 7 1/4" gauge, and is almost a mile in length.
Running through a small part of Town Park, the 10 minute journey is a delight for all ages.
Opened in 1979, the railway is run entirely by volunteers, members of the Halton Miniature Railway Society Limited.
There is no charge to ride the train, but donations are welcome to help cover costs.
Trains are normally hauled by one of the Society's petrol locomotives,
but members also bring their own steam and electric locomotives to run.
Please note; children aged 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult on the train.
The park has a free children's play area with picnic tables,
and refreshments are available from the Ski Centre next to the main station.

we are the only group ever in the 45 year history to be invited down here and get a private day and get to see what the public don't normally get to see.

A friends dad from back home has a similar guage steam railway in his garden. There are loco sheds, workshop, stations and a tunnel. I can't image the cost of it all over the past 30odd years but what a hobby! The workshop is a propper engineers workshop with all the kit and smells! Needless to say, when my friend had her wedding reception, her dad was on a 3 line whip to have the line running for guests 😂😂

@10:19 that's a ramp for loading trains onto the railway and off it as well, @4:52 & 6:25 yellow/Blue loco, the HST loco in shed, its own by John Thompson

Hi George, It's great looking around the miniature railway. There's one in Chester, and there used to be one in Calderstones Park, but I'm not sure if it's still there. I hope that they get lot's of support and visitors after watching your video. What a fun day everyone had 👍

Great video, I remember going on the train as a kid, I didn't know it was still there until recently. I'm sharing it on facebook, it needs help and keeping for our kids it use. Keep doing what you're doing. Denise xx
