There's no better feeling than lounging in your jammies all day with hot chocolate, a comfy sofa, and a good blanket when there is crazy winter weather outside, especially when you have a sweet, fluffy pup to cuddle ❤ Poor Grim, though, with his stress from being cooped up when it got too bad 🤗 I was overjoyed when I found out that Kara and Nate were going to Svalbard and visiting you, as I have suggested this collaboration to them before. that is absolutely true...mostly! ;-) I have Seasonal Affective Disorder and I get VERY low energy and mood when it gets darker in the Winter. I live in Northwestern NY State, across Lake Ontario from Toronto. I need some medication and a full spectrum "Happy Light" to get through the darkest part of the year! As do so many people I know. I wish I could just "chose" to be happy because if I could I certainly would! I tend to be a pretty darn optimistic person and feel very different when the temperatures warm and we get more light. Oh, that's another thing about where I live, even when the weather is warm, we have "heavy cloudy" days more than 50% of the year. That has an effect as well. But, today it's warmer than it has been and supposed to be in the 60's on Wednesday! (before the temps get colder again) but I'm excited and looking forward to that!

You know the weather is abysmal when even Grim doesn't want to be out in it. I wonder if a sound machine would help calm him. I have one I turn on when I sleep to help block out noisy neighbors and traffic noise. It has rain sounds and running creek, etc. but the best one for blocking out sounds is just the white noise. It's very calming. Maybe it would make Grim less scared of the wind.

I was waiting for this one... Living in Southeast Florida for the past 41 years, I know a thing (or ten) about hurricanes -- but not ones in subzero temps with blizzarding snow. The sounds made by the wind and the things moving about from it can be truly terrifying. At least you could stay cozy and warm in your lovely home. FWIW, I lived by that Norwegian mantra of "there is no bad weather, just bad clothing" for the 4 weeks we spent in Sweden, Denmark and Norway in December -- and it worked. We were just fine -- even at -17 up in northern Norway.

I lived in Florida. They actually don't know enough about hurricanes, because extensive damage happens with all of them. Huge difference in Norway, where I lived for years, and experienced several winter hurricanes. No prepping, no damage, no problems. All structures are built to withstand the powerful storms they get. The saying "Live and learn" doesn't apply to Florida, because they never do.

Hello from Nevada. I just saw your short of GRIM and decided to check out more of your channel. Wow, what a wonderful experience. I used to live in the northeast USA, now i live in the southwest. No snow in winter, though we miraculously had snow flakes just this week, but it was llike lint...it fell and disappeared before hitting the ground! Now WIND is something i'm familar with. I cannot wait to explore your life. It is so cool and i don't mean temperature-wise...what an amazing life you have...

I have always made those "oyoyoy" noises like she does at 3:26 and now with Cecilia's encouragement I do it with no self consciousness

I went to Montmorency Falls yesterday (a huge waterfall near Québec City) because most people go there in summer and i wanted to show what it looks like in winter. It was impressive and we were getting sprayed even dozens of meters away. My notes written in ink got completely soaked LOL. (it is 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls). On the way back, my friend was driving through the streets of the old neighborhood there and the houses are not built parallel to the streets, but at an angle, because of the Noreaster winds from the St Lawrence River.

To wake up to that stunning view everyday must be amazing! And your cabin is so cozy. It seemed so homey and warm with that wind howling outside.

Detachable windshields would be a great idea. You could remove them in bad bad weather and reattach them when the weather improved xxx😊😊😊

I watch your channel because as a youth I lived an isolated mining town in Northern Canada. We went outside everyday. Loved the northern lights, snowmobiling to remote cabins, fishing, and pretty much everything you do to enjoy the environment. We were inland, so no polar bears. All I have are photographs; I think it’s cool that you will have video memories later in life.

Last week, we had a 2 very cold days, and the temperature varied from -30 to -45 degrees C! In Quebec (Canada)! I was freezing, I wore a big sweater, with fluffy socks and slippers, I stayed in the bedroom with the cats that kept the heat, and as soon as I left I could feel the difference in temperature from the room to the kitchen. As we are in a house we even put a electric heater to heat the kitchen and that helped a lot. It doesn't happen often, but winter in Canada can be harsh for just a few days. In any case, it was quite an experience, it hadn't been so cold in Quebec for a long time, especially with a feeling of -45 (celcius) !
