Plumbing is hard enough without added complications! While we was working on the large plumbing job we have been filiming we got a dreaded call to say we had been broken into, not a nice experience but one i thought would share to give you an insight in what happens when you report this to the police and the answer? Well its just another tradesman been robbed nothing new there, happens week in week out up and down the country with very little being done about it!
In this episode we are back finishing off the boiler install and trying to get the feeds in to upstairs while trying to deal with whats happened, not the best day of my plumbing career

I've had my house broke into, my van broke into, my motorbike stolen from my garage. The police aren't interested. Do 25mph in a 20mph they're your best mate and send you letters.

Seen the protest in London today with tradesmen bringing to parliament the enormous problem of vans being robbed? Seeing lots of reports of sites now being done over. Tools being sold openly at boot sales and old bill not interested.

Tools need to be registered and most of us have insurance so what’s the point is my view as pointless getting them back when you’ve had them replaced and all serial numbers are not registered so how do you prove that’s someone’s. ?

@@waynehardiman5443 it’s not about returning the tools it’s about stopping the sale. Boot sales should stop the practice and old bill can confiscate if proof of purchase or ownership cannot be proved.

Tool insurance is a rip off. You never get the money to cover the replacement cost. If a drill is 1 year old or 10 years old it still costs the same to replace. Also its the prevention aspect, you can loose your wage, van aswell as the tool cost. Surely if we make it hard for them to resell it makes them less likely to steal them

Feel for you mate honest guy doing a honest job and putting videos out there for us other guys and girls to learn from and these low life’s just seem to get away with it I get thee police sometimes few of my mates are coppers and they say thee paper work andd request they have to put in plus work there normal hours etc it’s hard to do one case start to finish

Heartless aren’t they thieves. My son had his tools nicked, no result from the law either. Invest in the best locks you can. Keep up the good videos though!😀

A dull multi tool blade is perfect for cutting into plasterboard where you know pipes are behind. Cuts through the plasterboard but not through the pipe.

I had my can broken into. Found my tools on ebay. Got the guys details, arranged to collect them. Told the police and they threatened to prosecute me if I collected my own tools!!!!

Remember I got left in a ground floor flat as an apprentice, tidying and tucking a couple things away. 3 lads built like brick shithouses jumped in the balcony looking to rip up the copper. Thankfully they scarpered when they realised someone was still in the gaff, would've got my head kicked in 😂😂

I’m work for a housing association….lately we’ve had gangs going around ripping out copper pipe to and from the gas metres! Seriously. Gas pouring out for a few metres of copper!

@@bluebulldog_uk well listen to this! Four vans got done in my david lloyd car park at 4pm on a Friday. Peeled the van doors over where the dead locks are. Gates in and to get out. People coming and going constantly. A mates van got done in those four. I literally can’t believe it happened. Total insanity. Would never have happened years ago…

3 weeks a go 6 vans got done 24:26 on my estate my van had rear lock knocked out . But alarm went off they went I gave no side doors and 2 bolt locks top and bottom .so as I don't need rear lock I can use remote. I don't think they saw!the other locks .

We have spells round here where there will be a lot of vans done over in space of 1-2 weeks then nothing for months

Had someone drive into my car whilst sat in traffic, he raced off, gavr his reg to the police, filled all the forms in, they wouldnt do a thing. Its like there is no police force anymore

Had the copper stolen out the tube racks a few years ago. Around 3:30 in the morning Reported to the police, didn’t really want to know (same old story). Then my neighbour stopped me few days after asking all was ok as she seen the police at our house. Told her what happened, she said. My dog was barking that morning and thought he wanted to go out so I let him out and I seen the van and someone going to and from yours and their van. She GAVE ME THE REGISTRATION of the van. Handed it to the police and she gave a statement. Was told….. There is nothing they can do. As there is not enough evidence 🙇🏻‍♂️ Because my neighbour couldn’t be 100 sure the guy was taking stuff from my van, that’s what they said wasn’t enough evidence that this guy took it… A randoms van at 3:30 in the morning approaching my van. I asked them would they not even try and trace the person to question them as part of their job is crime prevention. And they said no. Not enough evidence to prove it was him. 🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️

@@bluebulldog_uk it’s madness mate. My neighbour couldn’t believe it when I told her. Full statement on what she seen. Description of the guy. The colour and model of van. The registration. Yet that’s still not enough. There was 1 bundle of 28mm 1 bundle of 22mm 2 bundles of 15mm on there.

The way we live at the minute mate. Police will only go after honest hard working ppl as we're easy targets. They don't want to work anymore and actually do police. Best to leave van blank and no signs of your company. But this is not good for advertising.

I rigged up mine with a certain sort of barbed wire on a frame after a break in. Police didn’t want to know. They did come back three days later. Let’s just say they didn’t come back again after that.

What's peoples opinion on the connection of the condensate pipe before the water trap? I've recently been treating them as At risk after doing my unsafe situations test and watching Tomkat videos saying the same thing.

If there is a trap in the boiler what’s the risk?

Without an air break the trap can be pulled. For example , in a washing machine stand pipe the washing machine can dump to waste and pull the boilers trap then it's open to atmosphere until the trap refills. After the waste trap the boiler trap can still get pulled but the waste trap will prevent fumes. A condense pump has an air gap so can't pull the boilers trap. So in a wm stand pipe you can tee in if you use a tundish to create the air gap. Obviously you have to be careful because you need that 600mm stand pipe to hold water so could be hard to achieve under a worktop.

With the size of that Worcester trap and no chance of a vacuum to suck the water out it will be fine in my opinion, isars/Icos I know used to have problems because of there traps been so small

Worcester did alter their instructions awhile ago on connecting into waste pipes because of trap issues and pipe blockages. Connecting into the top rather than the side. Probably because they were getting called under warranty to certain condense problems. I mention it because I saw a tomkat video where he said its now AR and then I noticed it had mentions of incorrect condense installs in the unsafe sits. I asked baxi tech and they said its AR if not to guidelines but wouldn't comment on the wm stand pipe situation specifically. Just MI and regs are good.

Scum ! Had van broken into 3 times over the years. 1st time had worked a Sunday and left tools on van overnight for 1st and last time had everything taken police never came out insurance would not pay out as tool not in a lock box old bill never bothered coming out . 2nd time caught 2 bag heads robbing copper out of pipe carrier smashed the guy to pieces his mate ran and left his partner in crime. 3rd time no tools on van made a mess of rear doors smashing locks out. Next time I do caught them taking a lump hammer to there hands
