Dearest Calico (Grace & Bill) So glad to know that you are safe. The video does not do those 10 ft waves justice or true view. You are probably Land Ho already. Wishing the best in your new part of the world. Hope to see you united with SV Delos where Nugs can reconnect with Auntie Grace and Uncle Bill. Blessings on your safe arrival!

Haha nope camera never catches them! Sigh. Sadly our cruising plans will not align as they have just arrived to Australia. I think we’re gonna fly to see them 🤗

Those look substantial! Even on camera! I recently spent 8 months on a flat bottom aircraft carrier. 12-15 foot seas made life bad on something THAT big.
@CalicoSkiesSailing2 ай бұрын
Ha i believe that and it’s funny u say that bc we get comments sometimes about not having a ‘heavy’ blue water boat. But the thing is compared to the size and strength of the ocean all boats are small. We’ve sailed on heavy boats and the difference is negligible. As long as the boat is designed well and cuts through the water and the sails are balanced that’s really the best u can do (in our opinion)!

A little lumpy out there for your last days on passage. Thats why on anchor in The Marquesas feels so good!👍😊

Despite the load she’s carrying with 6 months of supplies and plenty of tech spares, Calico still seems to do well in that less than ideal sea state. It’s a credit to her designer and to how you’re sailing her, it’s so tempting to power up a shade more to get a long passage done and get on anchor for a decent night’s sleep. I guess you’re about there by now, or already there. I hope that you’re all good and ready for some chill time, after all of the prep and the longest passage you’ve well and truly earned it. It’s truly a beautiful world! Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻

She really is a very fast and comfortable boat for her size. It still amazes us how much we carry and how well we keep up with other boats much larger than us. It is also really nice to be able to sail in light wind which we’ve found all over the world! (More light than heavy). Yes we’ve arrived now and are in total awe this world is amazingly beautiful that is for sure 😉 Can’t wait to share it with u!

I would suppose you know this,,,, but for me, when it's rough the below decks is the worst place to be. If I can see the horizon I'm generally ok. I'm not really prone to sea sickness in the first place, but when it's rough I can get queasy. That's why I avoid going below as much as possible. Love your videos, I'm glad you made it across safely! Too bad about your sail ripping out so early in your passage, but hey,,, ya made it with style. Luvya!
@CalicoSkiesSailingАй бұрын
Yea a lot of people say that, strangely for me being able to see the horizon (generally) doesn't help much. But being outside in the fresh air can help.Thanks for this sweet message and for being here :) Looking forward to sharing the next passage vid (tom) and rest of our adventures in FP with ya🤗

Thanks for the videos! It would be really great if you got microphones that block wind noise. Not just for passages but for all recording.
@CalicoSkiesSailing2 ай бұрын
We have a top of the line mic on our good camera but we were getting tossed around and it was quite wet so gopro was the best choice for this one but when we release the full horizontal videos I’ll do some work in post/add captions to make it clearer/better audio quality ( these short vids from the passage are unedited 😏)

Hi Guys... I could see someone who pays to be raised from the seat, so they would be outside dolphins, or sticks, it would be, if I consider it is the dizziness with those waves from 11 to 14 feet, not worry, you will get used to. The patches behind the ear against the dizziness by the imbalance of the hearing liquid are more effective than pills, place 4 hours before the steamer starts, forget the coffee because it will be much worse. Very nice, congratulate us ... if you can long-fur blowing blows, they sink through the trolling between 5 to 9 feet, depends on the plumbing to be placed before the removal of the waves. 🥵🤮
@CalicoSkiesSailing2 ай бұрын
I use the patches and they work very well for me!
