Back in the day, Rottweilers were used as herd dogs, along with German shepherds. Long before people decided they were "police" dogs. Sigh.... They really are considered working class dogs. It just takes training which unfortunately takes work and consistency. Herc and Nala should both be able to be trained to leave the birds alone so they can run the predators off.

You should be proud of Nala, she's an awesome bird herder and feels like this is her job. I feed the wild birds in my yard and change their water bowl twice a day because it's been in high 90's with 100+ heat index FOREVER! I'd rather have cold water, so do they. Gotta take care of God's creatures. God bless you and the animals.

One of my uncles had a goat when he was a boy. There was not a fence that goat could notget over. He could even open the door and come into the house. One night he opened the door and came inside and jumped up on the bed with my grandfather who slept with a 45 under his pillow. That goat came very close to dying that night. My uncle had to find another home for his goat.😃

Great episode as usual. With the gate, it doesnt matter how tight the clamps are, with the shock load of Mario hitting the gate the clamps will twist. If you drill and bolt through the clamp and the gate, this will prevent the clamp from twisting. With the trap, cover the area with the bait to prevent critters from reaching through and stealing the goodies. Another suggestion is to place a plie of 3 to 5 inch rocks around the the outside of and up against the bird run. This will help to deter and prevent predators from digging into the run by collapsing into any hole they try to dig. And it is a positive use for all those rocks you have laying around.

My old buck used to use that middle bar in the gate to launch himself over the top. That is what caused me to get rid of the males. Now, I have a friend that will loan me a stud for a couple weeks when I want to breed. One option you may consider is an anti-breeding apron. Some people have told me they work good.

Nala is good at herding the birds. It was funny when she just kept going around their pen. Spruce is still as cute as ever. I worry about his horns being to brittle. Did you find out anything about that. I was really feeling sorry for Blue until I seen her rubbing her tussie on the gate at Mario. Man goats are smart. It didn’t take him any time at all to figure out how to get through the fence to blue. Harry and Larry the little troublemakers. Luigi is Vu so sweet and quiet. I have never seen him causing and trouble and he sure likes when Shannon scratches and loves on him. Kyle you really tore that trench up. Aren’t you glad for machines that help you out. Less time and trouble. I couldn’t imagine how long it would have taken you if you had to do that by hand. The birds don’t seem to be to afraid of Nala. It is amazing when they come and let you know that they are ready to go into the coop. As always K&S Gets Out be safe, stay cool, enjoy your life and God Bless

Benjaminspencer6507, I talked to my vet friend and because Mario has bred he shouldn't be banded but they could castrate him surgically. Banding after a buck has bred is both painful and hazardous (chance of complications due to enlarged blood vessels and nerves) so most vets would recommend surgical procedure under anesthesia.

I take a plastic tarp and cut a piece big enough to cover the whole back end of the trap and zip tie it to the cage up to where the trigger plate is. This way they have no choice but to go inside to get the food, but when placing the food in it make sure its as far back as you can get it so it doesn't get under that trigger plate or the trap door won't close. Please break up the pop tart it's a little big. I take a cat food can and put my food in it. I just caught 3 raccoons with cat food. You will want to stake it down or put things around it so they can't move the trap.

Your right. We heard noises in our backyard at night and my husband went out our side door, saw two Jr size raccoons 🦝 🦝. One climbed the jam of the door going into the garage. The other climbed a metal basketball pole. So those claws were able to grip and take it up the metal pole. It’s also black shiny very smooth paint. My husband took a picture of them. So they could climb the metal poles of the pen and get in.

Our real feel here in Indiana got up to 115 this past week. I've had heat strokes several times so I had to stay inside under a/c. Your birds can molt a couple times a year. Part of that is shedding feathers. Dont do away with oppossums. They eat fleas and ticks. Nala could have been smelling the intruder around the outside of your coop. If Spruce only had thumbs there'd be no stopping him. Lol. It's very clear that you love all your animals. Even Mario. Ive seen where vets for zoos are putting depovera cylinders under animals skin once a year -dosage by weight. It would be great for you for planned breeding or birth control if your vet would consider that. It only takes about 20 minutes-not as much anesthesia and only once a year. Just a thought for you.

Shannon, I’m with you there about the grasshoppers! Before I moved here I thought they were pretty cool…..now…not so much. I walk out in my yard and they are jumping every which way it’s crazy….nope not so cute anymore🥴 You two have a blessed Sunday. Enjoy

It's something how they will stand in the water😀 like that. I have seen pigs do it and ALPACA'S do it. Never thought turkeys do it. That's cool.

Hi Kyle & Shannon I hope you get whoever is trying to bother your Feathers. Nala sure likes to herd. Poor Mario being teased by Blue, hopefully you got there in time Shannon. Fantastic job on digging those trenches Kyle. Both of you enjoy your Sunday. ❤🙏❤

That trencher would’ve made my life so many ch easier, lol I dug a trench 27 ft X 18” deep to run a new drain for the dry well for grey water; it took me almost two weeks because I was doing it in the evenings after work which only gave me about 1 1/2 hours of light You did a great job Kyle!

Kyle where are your safety glasses? Please be careful and wear them. If a rock or stone flies up and hits your eye or both eyes that is dangerous. Love watching Nala, she is a great bird herder. Another great video.

Good idea to freeze the water bottles to put in the water bucket that feeds the automatic bird waterer. I know it would take several, and likely would need to be changed morning and evening, but while it's so hot, might be a useful tool.

It had to be Christina. That girl has had it in for you, Shanon, since day 1. 😂 Are you sure that your Dad didn't get the poptart, Kyle?
