Cold air always falls Downward. Because of that you might consider installing a shelf up high for your generator and air conditioner. It will be much more efficient for your cabin.
@DanielJOehlerDMDHenderson

VERY important to vent that second pipe outside. That hot air exhaust venting out the back is originating from INSIDE your cabin. Let's say you have cooled the air inside your cabin to 75 degrees you are taking a large quantity of that air and running it through the heat exchanger in your AC unit and then dumping it outside. That air has to be replaced from somewhere (to keep your cabin from shrinking) and the replacement air is coming from the outside meaning the air is being replaced by ambient which might be 90/90 as you stated. Even though you may be getting 50 degree air coming out the front of the AC unit the air flow from that is way less than the exhaust going out the back which is replaced by the ambient outside air which makes your unit work very hard. It would be like running AC in your car with the windows partially open. Yes the air coming out the vents feel good but would be hard to cool off the car. Same with the tent scenario. You need two pipes going outside the tent for the AC to work efficiently. Great video but you need two pipes!

Unreal that you'd put it that low to the ground. !!!!!! Whovever installed A/C lower than window height???? All the air above the height of the A/C is going to still be hot & humid. Basic understanding from primary school is cold air sinks, hot air rises.

I have a very small pond in my back yard and also have 55 gal drums that are 3/4 full of pea gravel and full of water. I simple put about 4 flat head minnows in each barrel and pond. That was 5 years ago. The barrels all have moss and minnows now. No mosquitoes at all.

When working on the loft, remember that hot air rises. I don't know if anyone could stand the heat up there. I would go all out and get a propane generator that can power whatever you need.

After reading many reviews and watching a lot of videos, I chose this option for my first backup power station. kzfaq.infoUgkxHypYDKHAN93Lp2RQpfvU_ksc70wJ00pt I was between this and a larger option that could power a wider range of items, but the price/size/capacity blend seemed right for this unit. Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.

I actually live next door to a company that makes cooler panels. They use them mainly here in Florida for the ferneries here that need to keep those ferns cool until they're shipped off. They are four inches of closed cell foam between two sheets of metal and people use them for roofs, storage buildings, even houses. They are amazing at keeping the coolness inside! Look into it. In a cold climate they probably would be just as effective at keeping the warm in. And they are fairly cheap. They are called Coool Panels, Astor, Florida.

We have a cabin built the same way. We had it built by Davis Buildings out of Stigler, OK. They have actually built 5 of these cabins for us. The one we have now is 44x16, and a Mr Cool mini split AC keeps it cool in SE Oklahoma in 103°. You are correct; there is no framing in these buildings. Each panel is just screwed together. I've never had 1 problem out of the 5 total buildings that I've owned.

I homestead in Florida; it is brutally hot and humid here, I didn't know it got so humid in OK. The humidity not only makes us feel uncomfortable but it leads to mold all over everything. I hope no one steals your AC from the cabin, I know I would not leave that out there if it were my place unless I was coming and going frequently.

Suggestion for draining your pond, or just reducing the water level. Use PVC pipe and set up a siphon. It works 24 hours a day without any needed power. Just select your pipe size, with a T connector + two plugs (one for the lower end). Place the T at the highest point(typically on the dam), plug the lowest point, and fill the pipe full of water (five gallon buckets work well). Close the T junction with a plug, securing it watertight, then remove the lower cap. As long as the lower end of the pipe is below the water level from the source/pond, water should flow. Easy as pie.

You really should run that second duct/vent. Every cubic inch of air you pull from inside the cabin and blow out is replaced by outside air being drawn in through various cracks etc. By running the second vent you'll pull outside air across the condenser coils then back outside this will make your unit more efficient. Just a suggestion.

Our family cabin had no heat/air/tv/phone when I was growing up. My great grandparents built it almost 100 years ago now. It's part of my heart...but had to sell my half of my inheritance recently. it's on a once beautiful, cold, clean Spring River in NE Arkansas. We used fans to stay cool and all the windows open and it has a huge screened in front porch that we practically lived on. Dang the pond grew! My mom did put in a tiny little air conditioner in the one bathroom we had. Dad was an insurance adjuster so he was given the unit and we loved being able to all go in the bathroom and hang out! Us girls in the family used to always hang out in the bathroom...is that common? hahaha! Enjoy your land and cabin Daniel and family.

Daniel, you may find that air intake in the back is just for the condenser. Though it may seem intuitive to use cool air from inside for it, it cuts the efficiency tremendously because all the air blowing out has to come in from outside through cracks and window leaks, so you're pulling hot air into your living space. If you use totally outside air for the condenser, it cools it slightly less but you aren't creating a vacuum pulling hot humid air into living space making the compressor run way way less. You'd have to offset your intake because right now you exhaust is blowing straight down to where the intake would be, don't want that loop. Same principal as pulling in outside air for combustion in a wood stove or fireplace.

I’m guessing you would probably just build in a Queen with a bunk above it, but with the cost of lumber these days, you might find them bed cheaper. Ok, maybe not, but nothing surprises anymore so I wouldn’t be shocked.

I love that cabin. That air is going to be awesome this summer. Love the little "sweaty" advertisement for LHL/Ima Surviver too. ❤️

Have you considered a bed and other cabin furniture that can fold up into the "wall". The top of the Faux walls could be used as a shelf and the cabin won't have a huge bed taking up floor space. Additionally, to top of a faux wall, you could place your "air conditioning" unit up higher and your eventual heating unit at the bottom. Cold air falls, hot air rises.

I've heard it's better to put the minerals on tree stumps instead of the ground. The deer won't pick up parasites from the ground and the minerals will leach into the stump instead of the soil which the deer will eat.

Maybe add a screen cover to that vent to keep the small critters out
