I have a 2020 Jetta and I really like it. I have taken it on three long road trips to visit family and had zero issues. The Jetta is roomy, comfortable, quiet, handles well, and gets excellent gas mileage for a non-hybrid. I don't dislike SUV's; I just like sedans. The lower center of gravity results in better handling and the more aerodynamic shape results in better gas mileage.

The new facelift keeps the manual, because it's still on a Mk7 Golf era platform. it doesn't share the transmission with the Mk8s

11:50 because it’s cheaper. Simple as that. If you have the dials, you need to design them and machine them separately and make the individual buttons and all that good shit. If you have the touch panels, all you need to do is make one plastic piece and put touch sensors behind it and you’re done. I’m not supporting it; I do prefer a good set of buttons and physical controls just like everyone else, but the design they’re going with is indeed cheaper to mass produce and replace Edit: I should correct myself: it’s cheaper to produce and more expensive to replace because you have to remove the whole panel to get to the touch sensors so you can replace them. Therefore, it’s a win-win for the manufacturer

The reason sales went up is because of the value proposition because of insane inflation. People can't afford to buy a forty to fifty thousand dollar crossover, so they're going back to cheap sedans.

Improvements in front end design. That tablet stuck to the center of the dashboard is a huge step backwards. I'm glad that the Jetta is still offered however.

Good update but the bezel on the infotainment screen is questionable and I would’ve like to see a power bump like on the GTI. If the updated GLI’s price is around the same as a 2024 I can’t complain!! I might buy one. Awesome car!

Jetta and Golf both are C-segment (compact). Jetta is 4 door saloon while Golf is 5 door hatchback. So Jetta has more length as a saloon, but it is not a bigger car in general like Passat for example.

The exterior is improved. The interior screen however is a disaster! I got this car just recently (2024) and I really like the interior of the current one. I prefer this new exterior, the headlights return to VW's older roots. Also, the screen you showed in the video is the 8". 6.5 came with physical buttons. 8" came in the higher option cars, which is what I ended up with. The new "tablet" design will be necessary when they go bigger. But these two screens are identical. VW also has a 9" head unit that fits in place of the 8" screen that contains no volume nob.

Here in SA 🇿🇦 Jetta was killed in back in 2017 after 39 of offering. I'm glad to see how it has transformed in 7 years.

I own an MK7.5 GLI and I like the MK7.75 but still prefer mine.

The Jetta Sport handles better than any sub 25k car in the USA.

The exterior looks so much better, much more sporty and refined than any Jetta has looked for at least the past 14 years. The interior is just fine, but it’s an affordable car and at least VW has improved their infotainment system a lot over the past few years.

The back end looks like a Skoda Superb. The window frames look like they come out of a Polo!

The S, Sport, and the SE are currently great values and look much better than other sedan competitors. I’d rather have a sedan than a plastic cladded station wagon on its tippy toes called crossovers. I only wish it had better ratings from Consumer Reports.

For the USA/Canada, the GLI Autobahn and the 40th Anniversary Edition since 2019 always had the 8" screen. Lower GLI trims (when offered) had the 6.5" unit, along with all regular Jettas except for the SEL, which, like the GLI Autobahn, has the 8" unit. The image you show of the MK7.5 GLI has the same 8" unit as what will be in the 2025. The only difference for 2025 is that all trims, Jetta and GLI, will now get the 8" unit. I wish they would offer the 10" unit that Mexico, Central, and South America get.

OMG! That new cheap plastic infotainment screen plopped on top of the dash looks awful, as if from the toy aisle at Walmart. Toyota does this too. Anything to save a buck.

the new front looks MUCH better, however, the tail lights and the interior are a step back. I was deciding between the 2024 GLI and the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N Line, and the Elantra won; based mostly on looks. Would have been harder of a decision if I had the 2025 GLI in front of me at the time.

Looking at both on 5:36 and I still prefer the old one , looks more “German” and less “Japanese”.

I thought the old front end was an overstyled, incongruent, mess of lines and lighting. The new front end is a gigantic improvement and clearly was done cheaply. I think the back half of the car is extremely boring, and it reminds me of the 2010 Impala. But it's a refresh not a new design and the price is very fair... so I'd call it a good compromise. But yikes the piano black! It's worth the extra cash for the GTI to get a German made car with the nicer screen.

Now the front looks even more like a (pre-facelift) Polo AW.

Most people don’t know this but this generation A7 (2019-Present) Jetta/Bora(Argentina)/GLI/Sagitar(China), was conceived and designed in its entirety at VW Puebla, Mexico manufacturing and design facilities. The MK7/7.5/7.75 is a car that was primarily designed and conceived for use in the third world (LATAM countries). The Jetta/GLI is a high margin sedan for VW Group of America because of its rather inexpensive manufacturing process in Mexico, 1 generation behind platform/powertrain/interior and rather reasonably entry price point. Is a car build to a price bracket, nothing else nothing more. It sells in NAFTA countries, LATAM (South/Central America) and it is manufactured and sold in China as the Sagitar. Think of this as the 21st century Beetle. Also you have to ask yourselves why VW is tight lipped about its MK8 based replacement???😂

the lightbar at the read, and also illuminated grill in the front is the ugliest trend right now. Anyway, it looks like Skoda Octavia and Audi A3 had a baby. I was looking at a Golf but the touch interface and touch buttons made me go for the Audi A3 instead.

Front is definitely better. I’m okay with the interior, especially the larger infotainment screen. But the black wheels…enough already! Give us some variety, at least on the GLI. Wouldn’t it be nice, for example, if VW offered an appearance package with 19” inch silver wheels with lower springs and maybe a trunk spoiler with side shirts. Some more paint color choices would be nice too.

I think the reason why SUVs are killing sedans is people cant afford multiple vehicles anymore. They can afford one car that needs to do it all- and insurance and gas is expensive too. Most people aren't prospering.

I have the first version of the Jetta 2019 sel premium and honestly it looks way better than this 2025 model. I’m not ready to upgrade! These screens not integrated are not beautiful as well as the full new dashboard. The front and the back look like an Honda and I already do not like the back on the atlas, this one is worse. The only good successful recent design is the new golf of 2023 (with small integrated screen like a BMW).

C'mon man!! What's up with VW??? The 2025 Jetta Gli has the same turbo 2.0 inline-four engine since 2019. It's a great engine, but the GLI needs a newer engine with more horsepower and more torque. Maybe an all-wheel drive like the Golf R as well. I own the 2019 GLI 35th Anniversary Editon and the performance is exactly the same.. I love the way it drives and won't get another GLI unless VW comes out with the GLI-R. with Golf R performance.

You are dead wrong about that base engine....feels faster than any other engine its size...I drive most cars on the market due to my job, and the most fun turbo engine car under 2L is the Jetta Sport...but obviously the GLI is even better....but what I am saying is a manual sport before they are all gone is the best bang for your buck....but I want a Polo instead. I will move to Sweden and get one.

So they made the dumb decision of discontinuing the Arteon😂 (And killing the NMS Passat in 2022). Now the ID.7 sedan is cancelled for North America and they suddenly find themselves with only 1 sedan left in the stable: Jetta/GLI. What do they do to fix the pickle VW Group of America got themselves into? Do a SECOND refresh on the current A7 Jetta (MK7.75)😂 and make it look more like an Arteon!😂

The gti and golf r are manufactured in Germany while the jetta is manufactured in new Mexico. So the German plant will only make allotment based gti and golf r, and the european gti and r will also be only automatic. Production efficiency is important for all manufacturers. The jetta again is a point A to B car, so fuel efficiency and daily practicality are much more important. So horsepower isn't the main focus. The new Mexico plant will be building the automatic jetta for the everyday person and the GLI with the option of manual for the enthusiasts.
