I really appreciate the faith you have in me there! And I am flattered by your sentiments, truly. But I am not alone. There are many fans still actively running Reddit pages, discussion groups and channels across the internet who are keeping conversations about LOST going and writing their own analyses or making their own content. There is even a 20th anniversary documentary in post-production right now that is earmarked for release later this year, which will have interviews with many of the cast and crew (and super fans). I hope my work reaches far and wide within the fandom, but we are all part of keeping the legacy of the show alive.

12:11 Personally, I absolutely LOVE the iconic orange peel smile scene, and I find it extremely cool that the writers decided to include it in Locke's flash-sideways "awakening" moment! The scene is bizarre, extravagant, comical, intriguing and memorable all at the same time (honestly, it comes close to the epic "Walt...do you want to know a secret?" scene for me). It perfectly captures how Locke's perception of what was happening to the castaways completely differed from the rest of the group right from the start. And let's say it: Locke is rather an ambivalent, multi-faceted and perhaps even paradoxical character, which is quite well expressed in his one-of-a-kind smile pointed at a confused Kate haha :).

Saw a video recently, claiming that the pilot *is* the best episode, and LOST never reached those heights again. Each to their own, and all that, but I don't know how anyone can come to that conclusion. Ep.4 was the one that got me hooked, and that isn't even the best.

as a kid me and my brother bought the whole box set of lost, and the phrase "we have to go back" was always a meme to us :D even tho we never looked up any lost memes or community stuff, and i think its funny that it was a meme for every lost viewer.

LOST is my 2nd favorite tv show (just under the original Twilight Zone). Both are trailblazers that changed the entire landscape of television. As far as the premier of LOST, it was made like a motion picture. It was produced so well imo.

Amazing start to the guide! I wish you all the best success with it. I do think it's worth stating that you have a lot of fans out there, but you also have a lot of copycats and others who envy your progress. There are certain people on Reddit and Facebook who do not want to see your channel succeed. For example, someone posted this video on Reddit the other day and the mods locked the comments on it to stifle its engagement. I can see why you don't post on there anymore. It's so damn toxic! There are a lot of small egos and gatekeeping that goes on in this fandom, which really sucks, but I'm glad you are breaking through with your subs and views on youtube! It is well deserved.

I’m one who LOVED lost when it was airing. I got involved in all the theory podcasts. I rewatched every season multiple times while waiting for new episodes. But by the time the show ended I was very put off. I haven’t ever rewatched the last few episodes. It went from my favorite show of all time to something I don’t want to revisit. So I’m here to see if I should “go back.”

I agree with most of what you say but not all (specifically Hurley). Not every character has to be multidimensional. Thats how it is in real life. So if anything, i think the show made a slight stumble giving Hurley more layers. There's nothing wrong with being a regular, "everyman." And thats how Hurley was introduced. But that's ok! I love that us LOST fans have differing opinions and thoughts about things. Thats how it was when the show was airing. It was always a group of us watching and we would discuss and debate things and characters, and that was one of the great things about this show. It allowed itself for that. So even if I have a differing opinion about 1 thing in this whole video, i am very glad you are making these videos for us to discuss different views, opinions, etc. That is wonderful, and I thank you. ❤

Congratulations on the quality analysis. It's like Lostpedia - The Series! I was eagerly waiting for this, and now I am eagerly waiting for more! I always thought, though, that the means by which so many 815 passengers survived had something to do with teleportation. We see it happen to Locke, Desmond and Mr. Eko when the hatch implodes and to Jack when he puts the cork back in the source inside the cave only to reappear outside, in the bamboo field. One could also argue that flashing through time is a sort of teleportation, especially when the Ajira passengers arrive back in the seventies in scattered spots on the ground, rather than all together in the air. And of course, the most notable case of teleportation happens to the Island itself in the season 4 finale. I'm also pretty sure the Smoke Monster is capable of some degree of teleportation, especially when he changes form. Since all these instances - even Smokey's transformations - happen alongside a discharge of electromagnetic energy, I think it's fair to assume it might have occurred to the 815 survivors, at least some of them, like Jack. What do you think?

I think that’s a totally plausible thesis actually. At the very least for Jack. And we do see him teleported again when he is taken off the Ajira flight - not just teleported through time but also to a very specific space; he wakes up in a dense part of the jungle again. So, I would agree that there is evidence to support what you are saying. I don’t know about all of the survivors of Oceanic 815 being teleported though - surely at least one or two would have been in a heightened state of adrenaline and awareness and would have noticed a jump from a midair free fall to suddenly being on the beach in wreckage? I think they would all have to be out cold before the teleportation and impact occurred for that to work, or a lot of caveats. However, I think you’re right on the money with Jack there!

@@LOSTEXPLAINED108 I don’t think we’ve seen anyone being teleported while conscious, though. Even after turning the frozen donkey wheel while healthy and wide awake, both Ben and Locke seem to firstly wale up in Tunisia, suggesting that they somehow lost consciousness. Maybe this is par for the course when one is not used to the electromagnetic energy that emanates from the source. My theory is that, after 2000 years, Jacob can teleport at will - or when the Island allows/requires him to -, which is how he travels from the Island and back. And maybe Walt, who has a history of projecting himself across space and time, one day will be able to do that as well. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am fully with you on Jacob and Walt having that power. I think the show demonstrates that fact across several instances. In my video on The Game, I discuss how Jacob uses the lighthouse mirrors as a targeting system for his travel. He goes through the looking glass as it were. Almost all of the candidate locations reflect places we saw him visit. In time, Walt might develop his abilities in a similar way and be able to aim better.

LOST is officially coming to Netflix and I really hope you do a deep dive into each episode so we can watch it along with your videos. I know it's a lot but I think that would be super cool, especially since breakdown videos weren't a thing when the show officially aired. Here's hoping!

Yes, I’ve seen that news! Hopefully it will expose LOST to a whole new audience. 🙏 I plan to release a new video every month or so, although I can only go so fast. It’s 120+ episodes to cover and I’m a one man band. It takes a lot of time to write, record and edit one single video. I would love to do this full time and release a new video every two weeks but the ad revenue generation just doesn’t justify that commitment yet. As the channel grows and affords me more time, I’ll be able to invest longer man hours into the project and speed up the release schedule. Part of me is hoping the Netflix release will reignite larger interest and increase my own traffic. However, I also think this episode guide should be something to savour, and that my focus should be on quality rather than speed. That way, in the years to come, whenever anyone watches or rewatches the show they can always reference my guide. That’s the hope anyway.

It's better if each video has the quality of the other ones in your channel anyway, this show deserves it. And I also hope that the community expands through this Netflix deal and brings in new Losties to find this channel, that would be awesome. I, for one, will do my best to spread the word. Fortunately, I know some folks that love Lost as much as we do so I will definitely be getting them onboard this ship (plane?) as soon as possible. Kate hate. I get it. I was not anti-Kate, but she was my least favorite and I just didn't warm to her. First watch. But fairly quickly on my second watch she became my favorite character. She grew on me. I first noticed how much I loved her when I wrote a short fan fiction, and she took center stage. That was not my intention, but I was completely drawn to her as a character. It was a revelation. In the end, I don't have a smidgeon of Kate hate left. Love her! Great episode - thank you!

I find pilots are always great for reminding myself that at the start of any show the writers, actors, directors, and crew are just beginning to grasp everything they are about to undertake. That may be a weird description. What I mean is, they have these characters, but they just don’t know them yet. It’s kind of cool in that the audience and the creators are on the journey together to grasp what this show is about. Later on, the writers are bringing along the audience, but at this point in the series everyone is on equal footing. It almost mirrors the story in that everyone is a stranger. I also find it striking in Star Trek The Next Generation. A crew who similarity were a group of people put together who , for the most part, had no prior relationship. The character development and journey engenders a connection between the viewer and the creators, much more so than a pilot of a show where characters already have established relationships. At least it does for me.

I agree but that’s not how he starts out IMO. He starts out as comic relief and grows into a more dimensional character as time goes on.

Hi friend! This is gonna be a lot of fun. Personally I think even though the pilot was unprecedented it still has some of the worst scenes in it. Especially Kate sewing up Jack's wounds. I never liked that scene tbh.

I am going to try my best to keep videos coming each month. In an ideal world, I would like to release one every two weeks, but that would require me to work on these full-time and, as of yet, the channel isn't quite justifying a 24/7 commitment. If subs continue to increase and ad revenue goes up a bit more, I'll be able to invest extra time into the project.
