Legendary director Antoine Fuqua and the producers that brought you 'Bohemian Rhapsody' are back with another huge musical biopic, 'Michael,' a story spanning decades in the life and career of Michael Jackson. We became some of the first people in the world to see the trailer for 'Michael' at CinemaCon 2024, and there's a lot to discuss. Watch CinemaBlend's Managing Editor Sean O'Connell break it all down.

Except it's being produced by the MJ estate, who are in a legal battle concerning allegations against Michael Jackson, so of course the final product will be biased in their favour regardless of what the truth may be.

I hope they cover his religious upbringing as well. I think this also was a really big part in the early development of his psyche. Having such a big contrast of right and wrong between mother and father and two split worlds he lived in and had to adapt to.

Now we just need Halle Bailey as Janet Jackson. Riley Keough as Lisa Marie Presley, MJ’s first wife Julia Garner as Madonna Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al Yankovic (MJ was a huge fan of Weird Al, and gave him permission to parody his hit songs “Beat It” which became “Eat It”, and “Bad” which is “Fat” and he also used his production designs where he filmed the music video for Bad. Kristen Stewart or Elizabeth DeBicki as Princess Diana (Diana convinced MJ to preform Dirty Diana as she claimed that it was one of her favorite song) Viven Lyra Blair or Lexi Rabe as Paris Jackson and Sabrina Carpenter as Debbie Rowe, MJ’s 2nd wife I still think that this musical drama biopic film should just get distributed by just Universal Pictures 🌍. Not Lionsgate for unknown reasons. I really hope they add all of MJ’s songs like Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, I Just Can’t Stop Lovin’ You, Bad, Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, Man In The Mirror, Speed Demon, Give In To Me, Heal The World, Jam, Black or White, Remember The Time, Ghosts, Blood On The Dance Floor, and You Rock My World, including the ones when he was a member of the J5 when he was a kid like I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, Dance Machine, Got To Be There, Ben, and when he was a teenager and was still a member of The Jacksons like Enjoy Yourself, Blame It On The Boogie, and Shake Your Body Down To The Ground. Wish and hope that they add the scene where his hair got on fire while he was filming the Pepsi Commercials, The scene of him filming The Wiz as Scarecrow The scene of writing and performing “We Are The World” with the entire singers like Billy Joel, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Steven Perry, Bette Midler, Kenny Loggins, Cyndi Lauper, and Bryan Adams. Scene during the Super Bowl halftime show, Imagine if the film could get a 3hrs run-time, and/or get split up to part 1, 2, and/or 3, and if it’s good, it deserves a $1B or $2B Box Office. I also wish that the film could get moved to August 2025 in time for what would’ve been the late legendary King of Pop’s 67th Birthday. Thank you, Director Antoine Fuqua and Universal Pictures.

I would actually suggest Kristen Stewart for the part of Lisa Marie Presley. And unfortunately, I doubt that we will see Halle Bailey play Janet Jackson because Halle has strong ties to Oprah Winfrey, as she was one of the characters in the color purple musical, and most Michael and Janet fans know that Janet no longer likes Oprah because of her association with leaving Neverland and the rollout.

I'm sure the film is going to be great, but I just hope that the film doesn't spend a significant amount of time in the Jackson 5/Jacksons era because there's already enough cinema covering those years in full. Covering MJ's life from pre-Off The Wall onward, past the "Dangerous" era would be interesting to see considering modern day MJ coverage tends to be either Thriller Era and previous (with very few light acknowledgements to the BAD era), or 2005. So we're in for a treat hopefully.

You can do 5 decades of Michael’s life. I hope they tell the truth about whatever they talk about. People like to believe Michael was complex, weird, broke, brain like a child, drug addict, and with the Jackson brothers his whole 45 years in the industry. These are all false. Michael was a seasoned solo artist AS A CHILD. There was absolutely nothing complex, weird, childish, drug addict and destitute about Michael He wasn’t around his brothers his whole career. He tried so hard to have Hislife. His brain was not like a child’s. He was fully aware and kept on top of everything. When you have liars, thieves, leeches and beggars around you it’s hard fighting that especially when they are people you are taught, programmed and trained to love and be around. I hope this isn’t a film largely encapsulated with the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons. In Michael’s career he was with his brothers about 15%. People like to make it seem like he was with them all the time. Michael would have been a sensation with or without Motown or his brothers. Didn’t matter who was around Michael. Everyone in Michael’s life who he spent a millisecond with was blessed. You got people out here acting like Michael owed them! Michael didn’t owe nobody NOTHING! He owed himself peace of which the only times he had it were with his children and his mother. He found peace when creating and a few people in his life that were positive but it wasn’t enough to keep him here. If you really pay attention Michael is not here because people did not want him to have ANY peace because they NEVER had it.❤ I love you Michael. I’m sorry you had to walk through the pits of hell on earth. It was never supposed to be like that.❤🙏🏽You are for sure at peace and resting now!
