This week we're escaping our home city of Halifax, Nova Scotia! We need a break from our day-to-day lives in the city, so we're heading for a getaway to the North Shore of Nova Scotia to an area called River John, not far from Tatamagouche.
We give you a tour of our tiny cabin in the woods in River John. Book Airbnb here: www.airbnb.ca/rooms/45395595
After the tour we head into Tatamagouche to eat at a local restaurant called Big Al's. Afterwards we take a tour around the Train Station Inn.
We then head to Jost Winery to try some of their wines.
Lastly we head back to our cabin to enjoy some time in the hot tub.

I love Tatamagouche! The area, in general, is rich in history and culture, but the village is so picturesque. I had no idea it was a wine-making region too! I suppose the terroire would produce some really interesting and unique flavours. It's so cool to know that the intercolonial railway was creatively repurposed. Thanks Trevor and Anna. What a lovely video! Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed watching.

Hello again, loved this video! Loved the little cabin, The Hot Tub, so pleased to featured those moments in the tub. My hub and I owned a similar tub for about 10-11 years. Loved It! Loved star gazing, and the chillly weather is the best for hot tubbing. Thanks for showing us your really cool touristic perspective of our amazing province. We have always held such a downgraded perspective of humble Nova Scotia. You Two are single handedly changing our view and the viewpoint of so many of our CDN and US neighbours of our rural province. We,who live here ,love it; but still need to raise our view of it to the world class area that it truly is. Thanking you for being so hard working in your endeavour to “ not just be stuck here” but in highlighting all that is “Exceptional “ within Nova Scotia.

You should definitely eat at the Train Station Inn when you go back. It is very good, and a cool experience. The railway that used to run through Tatamagouche ran from Oxford Junction to New Glasgow as an alternate route to bypassing Truro that avoided climbing and reclimbing the mountains.

You asked about rental break downs... Back in 2014 when I rented a truck and a trailer for my car to move from Niagara Falls to Wolfville, just outside of Windsor NS it blew a tire so I was two hours late for my arrival at my new job...

@@DelightfulTravellers Once I told them it was a u haul they totally understood and we all had a good laugh. I still had a case of bottle water and several bags of potato chips... all was good. After touring my new job my bosses took me out for dinner and we discussed my new job.

Really sorry to see you broken down on the side of the road if you're not used to that it's miserable. As for me I have to carry AAA roadside insurance it's been a lifesaver because my pickup is a 95 Chevy S10 and my car is a 2006 Infinity I can't tell you how many times I've been broken down on the side of the road my roadside insurance was worth every penny! I can only drink wine if it's chilled it drives my snobby wine friends crazy. 🤣

Just a FYI - Anytime you break down on a highway - GET OUT. Walk off the shoulder. Do not sit in the car. The odds of being rear ended are crazy high.
