No we don't... maybe some day though. You can just pay an exit fee when you leave the DR at any point. Their gov has a chart on the prices - Trevor

In your opinion, how can we avoid food poisoning there? I know about the water, but what else would you suggest? I mean it sucks to get sick on a vacay!

Tough question but a good one. We've travelled a lot in the past 10 years and only encountered food poisoning a few times. Oddly enough it was in the past 2 years. Typically, we think it's unwashed salad but here in CDMX, we just aren't sure. I wish we had a better answer for you - Trevor

It’s so true how the media runs whenever there’s a crime in Mexico n have ppl paranoid about going there. Personally, I think it’s done purposely because they’re afraid Americans n Canadians will go move there, where it’s more economical and there’s better quality of life n organic food. After all, if we keep leaving, especially to Mexico, who’s gonna pay all the high prices n taxes over here. They’re just trying to keep us here for their own benefits😂😂

I live in downtown Halifax, I like the City a lot, BUT... rent is out of control, $2000 for a 1 bedroom is crazy. I have a friend that pays $900 a month just for a room in someone's house, the going rate, again, crazy. I realize this is a Canada problem, it's similar all over the country, but that doesn't make it any better. The problem, our government are criminals - they don't work for us, they are screwing us all. They knew what would happen when they took in so many immigrants too soon, supply and demand, and now the big apartment companies are making a killing off of it. Then a carbon tax on top of everything else, this in a country that is essentially a massive forest. Meanwhile, tent cities are growing here and all over the country and this is just the beginning. Our government has sent 18 billion dollars to the Ukraine and wasted countless billions in other ways while Canadians are sleeping in tents from coast to coast, and most Canadians are struggling to pay the bills. Time to wake up Canada.

Unregulated pumping of aquifers in and around Mexico City is exacerbating the sinking of the city. The city is running out of water while sinking rapidly. Also, Mexico City is vulnerable to earthquakes because it was built in the lake basin of a drained lake (Lake Texcoco) and the soil is soft and unstable.

Hi, about the water problem, NO it is not normal, the majority of hotels have their own cistern, enough to operate the hotel without water from the city for at least 3 days. And houses have Tinaco (water deposit on the roof) so no, it isn´t normal not having water in your room, you should ask for a partial refund.

It is a very sad and disappointing (probably disturbing to some extent) thing to know that Mykonos, once the island selected by authors, painters, sculptors and people aiming to experience the natural beauty of this island that was a rather poor stronghold for pirates for centuries has now become a place where prostitution, drugs, alcoholism, rudeness and complete disrespect of almost any lawful behavior rules. Hotels, restaurants, beach bars and cafeterias charge exorbitant prices (usually without issuing any receipt), they employ young Greeks or illegal immigrants at monthly wages below (sometimes way below) the minimum wage, without any social security compensations and having them work 12-14 hour shifts 7 days per week treating them like slaves,, while beach bars and hotels occupy beaches charging ridiculously high prices for an umbrella and two chaise longues, forbidding people who are not willing to use them and pay for them from swimming in the beach (by Greek law all beaches are public and freely accessible to everybody). Much of the tourist economy of the island is in the hands of the Russian mafia and its oligarchs much of the supply of food, equipment and fuel a part of the building business is ruled by the Albanian mafia. Corruption runs high, as you can open any sort of shop almost anywhere if you have "the right connections" and you can build whatever you wish or can afford without feeling restricted by any building permits, Greek laws on the use of land or any public space demarcation. Local Mykonians, once happy and proud of their island, are questioning whether they are going to have the means to keep their properties on the island, are more and more threatened by the shady people that make Mykonos their summer residence and by the myriads of people landing on their island in the summer, as tourists seeing Mykonos as the paradise for heavy drugs, easy free and paid sex, wild partying and a chance to engage in any sort of extreme, unhinged nightlife "entertainment" of all sorts. Mykonos was recently characterized as the "Colombia of the Mediterranean Sea", if that adds a layer of description to the fast, sad and possibly irreversible disintegration of this very beautiful island. What a shameful waste!

When in high altitudes avoid effervescent beverages and large meals upon arrival. Don't trust unsealed water containers. We drank from a container of "agua potable" only to discover that the lazy housekeeping was not refilling the container with pure water as advertised but rather directly from the tap. Use bottled water to brush your teeth and avoid raw vegetables or fruit which you cannot peel. "Montezuma's revenge" awaits those who aren't vigilant. BTW when Mexicans get sick travelling to the USA it's called "Pocahontas' revenge." (A little joke from the patriarch of a Mexican family I stayed with on my second visit to México).

when you ate that bread and butter pudding you said you do not eat dessert usually luckily for you, you continued that tradition whilst it is eaten when you usually have dessert it is actually a pudding and not a dessert and that is why we brits say what are we having for pudding and not what are we having for dessert.
