I don't have a big house, I have no car or TV. I used to have a car and a tv but I learned to live without those things, now I do not view them favorably and know they are unnecessary for me. Time is very limited, so the simpler life is the more time we have to enjoy what we value. This I can say with certainty, the simpler your life is, the more satisfying it becomes and the simple life offers MORE FREEDOM. Without freedom, whether you have little or much, you will not feel very secure. Jon, thank you for your insight, it gives one pause for thought about the more essential things.

Children WILL listen to their elders when we, as adults, give them good examples, BE good people and show them what REAL Joy is all about. Yes, it will take time to win them back from their conditioning, but it is obviously worth it. I don't say this to you as a perfect man who always knew this, but as a learner, myself. Peace to you, brother.

🙂 children are supposed not to listen to elders. Else they'd look spooky 😂. Sorry, just kidding. Elders are jewels. And children don't have any value for jewels, understandably. It's our job to do the right things each time, just like Jon here. And I quote Sadhguru here that children can't be taught by elders, they just observe. Creates a permanent imprint. When elders in the society keep doing what's right each time, kids can do nothing wrong. Cheers.

When elders are toxic like our parents we cant listen to them who always think that their child should do what they have not what he wants to do what he loves & when we dont listen to them we dont obey them & are foolish.

Most of the time the elders are trying to save the younger generation from making some of the mistakes they made so they can get further in life without time wasted on mistakes

I agree with many of the points. I personally do small scale farming and homesteading to get away from all my modern conveniences.. We have become extremely physically lazy due to cheap technologies. We continue to increase possession and convenience.. We work longer stationary jobs, then spend our free time arguing on social media platforms.. lol.. I enjoy the physical labor and critical thinking necessary to provide the basics for myself and my family.. It gets me outside, connected with nature, and all of the work is rewarding.. Especially when I can share the fruits of my labor with friends and family. Bring back a sense of community instead of isolation...

I studied from brainwashed school in the past, live far away from my parent. The school teaches me to make life to be harder and complicated. Mostly what I have learned is just get a job at a company, get salary every month and work like this until old. It's not a life. When I get salary, I endeavor to save money to buy phone, car, TV, technology devices and change them often. Just prove that to my friends I'm a rich person. It's not meaningful, it did not help me anymore. Finally, I'm in debt and have to work until the end of life for debt. I appreciate what you have said in video, that's deep knowledge in real life. Just come back to myself and ask question: what I need or what I like. Only follow what I need to adapt basic demand in life to make the life easier.

Material things is nothing. I would rather have love n peace than gold are diamonds. We here in USA suffer we never see our family we never gave time to even sleep government n the rich Destroyed us. Thank you for showing the right way to live. To have enough n a little bit of land. U have to have land to have what you have. In USA they make it hard for us to have that land they want us to suffer. I'm happy u have a good life. Maybe later I can come back I can have. That peacefulllife. Amazing true wise story Jon, makes you think, remember and realise. Yes, and the Native Tribal Tribes and Clans Live of the land and everything needed is free from Mother Nature not really owned nor controlled by anyone. Land is living, just like Humans and animals God gave Man dominion over the Earth which means to nurture and care for, not claim false ownership nor kill nor exploit, poison. Earth and life is priceless not for monetary value, money is created for the original purpose of barter.

Yes, the diminishing returns of technology & the over investment in complexity.... These two thoughts are the hinge that is swinging modern life - and the advanced techno-industrial world, for that matter - toward darkness. They represent an infection in the critical operations of daily life, like a metabolic disease, driving us into disorder and failure. And they are so omnipresent that we’ve failed to even notice the growing failure all around us. Thanks Jon Jandai ! for your well spoken and expressed sharing of common-sense,folk-wisdom....the relevance of which is ever near for those who has the ears to hear.

I like your insights, i am from a so called developed country. I think you are right, technology leads to having less time and too much to work for. With buying that fridge or stove you essentially buy all the work involved. We are so densly populated that nobody is allowed to cut wood from the forrest, every centimeter of land is already owned by someone so an electric stove is a must have for 95% of us. Nevertheless, i love your wisdom and skills. Keep on posting your videos, highly appreciated.

Here in the US, we are extremely technology rich and plastic rich. Even the poorest can afford to purchase a cooking pot (rice cooker) with just 1 or 2 hours of wages. But, we are still very shelter poor. 1/3 of millenials can't even afford their own shelter. and those that can spend almost 50% of their pay on shelter. In so many of your videos, I see beautiful nature and endless amounts of space and land. I believe in one video, you mentioned 1 acre of land. the vast majority of people in the blue states of US don't even have 1/6 acre of land. In a blue state, you'd be lucky to even have 4000 sq ft of outdoor space. Thank you for sharing your perspectives! It's very interesting to learn how people live.

It is inevitable for the modern city dwelling people. The simplicity of the life you speak of can come about when one is blessed with a piece of land so that true sustenance can take root. The modern creature is a wage earner living in an environment where you are to pay for everything. He or she is the pins and wheels of money economy. You and those who have their own land are truly blessed.

A good term to use is "intermediate technology" : a sustainable technology that promotes a healthy, just, and abundantly happy society. Intermediate technology can supply our basic needs : water, food, medicine, shelter, etc. while enabling us to resume a positive, proactive and inherently sacred lifestyle - free of aggression and oppression, torment and loneliness. Intermediate technology is designed to bring people together. Modern technology, on the other hand, is similar to a carrot dangling at the end of a stick. We chase it like a rabbit. Our entire lives are spent racing in a circle, chasing that carrot.

As always, thank you Jon for your wisdom. Technology has changed our lives to such an extent that it is completely detached from nature and natural cycles. What we gained from technology we have used to entrench ourselves deeper into a destructive, capitalistic, and materialistic society. KZfaq and online media have become the new TV. We spend more of our waking time online than offline. I hope we can find a balance with technology and gain wisdom to steer humanity in a direction that maximize joy and minimize suffering for all. I believe we can come to a mutually beneficial symbiosis with technology and nature.

The modern society makes people work hard so they can buy luxurious things that makes one feel like their life is better. But what truly happens, if one is not careful, is that we fall into the trap of chasing luxury and luxury by working endlessly. On top of that, we teach our kids to also work endlessly so they can have a luxurious life. In the end, everybody only has time for work and no time for anything else until 62. By then, most of us are sick and weak with little energy or health left to truly enjoy life.

Great vision Jon, sadly here in New Zealand to own land is expensive to rent land/house is expensive, buy food expensive, rates expensive etc etc etc no turning back after the baby boomers made their millions from the 80's and 90's and 2000's. Common here for Baby boomers to have 6-15 rental properties. Used to bring up a family on one income. now struggling with two parents working. Even trying to live cheap/simple is a struggle.

I'm a Kiwi too, and I think you put too much blame on the'baby boomers' instead of corrupt politicians and corrupt councils spending too much of taxpayers/ ratepayers money while paying themselves more and more. Also in NZ we have a huge problem with lazy people ( look at the many homes with absolutely no garden), huge numbers of those on benefits who prefer not to work; generation xyz who think they are ENTITLED to have what they want...from parents or the government handouts, plus an education system which is abysmal at best.

How does one be happy, when others are so hateful. It breaks my heart that I have to rely on tv for happiness cause people are so mean and vindictive. Any helpful words would be greatly appreciated.

Technology is neutral. It’s HOW we use it. Like a fire can be used to warm or burn you. It’s technology that brings you to us. “Brain-wash” school!😂👍TQ for your continuous insights & sharing ... through technology😜

I’m not sure what the solution or your answer would be to fix the current situation, but I do believe we do live in a better world than any time in history. The problem isn’t technology, but governments thirst for power. You said it yourself talking about communism. We are facing global Communism if we don’t wake up.

Like-minded people like Jon should gather and raise awareness. Many people has lost their ways by forced and no choice because every where they see 90% leads the path to greed, illness and moral collapse. Many died tragically by unnatural cause ( suicide, cancer, accidents etc ), we must return and live in healthy joyous long life.

We feel it in Pennsylvania USA too Jon. Learn of better plants to feed yourselves. Food forests should be everywhere. Hemp seed is a great food. Moringa is nutritious. Let the mechanical world suffer the loss of civilization. Natural Law tells us not to violate another's rights. States do not have the right to violate a free person. The golden rule must protect non-violent people. Armies must march past the land of non-violent people. It is time to use the tecknowledge we have created. Peace be with you Jon.

I was in Wal-Mart Sat & ppl was cutting in lines & I was waiting for a fight to breakout any moment. I'm almost ready to order online instead going into the big stores anymore. Ppl was going around i270 over 73mph in a 65mph zone. Ppl intentionally hitting other vehicles instead of slowing down. I drive a semi 🚛 for a living. I'm almost ready to my personal pu truck & walk to the store 5 miles away. Go back in the way of living. I'm ready to live in garage w no electricity. Have a woodburner stove & fix carport as a summer kitchen. Just so I don't have to deal w this technology age

Hey Jon, wise words as usual. Just ONE thing you should be clear on, that COMMUNISM is NO way of Life. And, while Capitalism has its own issues, it has some benefits. However, even Capitalism is MOSTLY for the Wealthy. Aside from the economic models, what WE really need is simple Freedom. Peace to you, brother.
