Alll the people crying about selling need to understand. You are raising bison as a business not a petting zoo. Most bison are raised to eat. You can't keep every reddog born. Even if you don't raise for meat whoever you sell to is or will be. Business is business.

One of the others on this stream said that it is indeed a business. That is so true. Also, i know from having had horses, people need to realize that you have to have the right amount of animals per acre so that the animals can thrive. If you have too many animals on the pastures there is not going to be enough grass for all of them. Also I love the fact that you're selling them to someone who sounds like you did a few years ago. Wanting to start out with good stock so they can have a healthy herd. Wishing them good luck and much success. And good for you on managing your herd properly. ❤❤

How lucky that you have an opportunity to thin your herd and help someone else get a start with good seed stock. Sustainability is of utmost importance. Everytime I watch your videos, I think about my great grandfather who crossed the plains 7 times from St. Joe to Denver. He used oxen to pull steam donkeys. When he crossed the plains, he saw the migrating great herds of bison. It took days for them to pass. He had to find a draw to take shelter in and wait for them to pass.

I think it's wonderful that you're able to be involved in a new Bison Rancher starting out. Isn't that what you do this for? To keep growing the entire Bison herd, keeping Traditions. I know you care for all of your Bison and some are more special than others. We know that there are a few Bison that will never go off the ranch. But you've got to sell some of the others sooner or later. It's not good to have a huge herd if you're struggling to keep them properly cared for. Financially and otherwise! I hope when you deliver these animals to their new owner, that you also share with them about how you have used the cubes to 'work' with these bison. Let them know that they associate that utility vehicle with the yummy cubes they get. Your bison are 'pre-trained' to associate the two things, and sharing that knowledge would help the new owner out a lot. You don't want someone getting hurt because the bison get too close looking for 'food 'cubes'. Maybe also share with them what you yell to the bison when you want them to come.

Regenerative farming and ranching is a responsible way of handling the land and livestock. In addition, the livestock have a better quality of life than those livestock within the factory farming system. The way Dusty and Marissa are handling their land and bison (livestock) is admirable. They know that there's too many animals and if they graze too much for too long, it breaks down the ability for the land to recover and can lead to desertification. They're doing the right thing. In comparison, livestock within the factory farming industry live on dirt or concrete lots, are given growth hormones, and fattened up with soy and corn. I purchase meat products that were free range to support ranchers and farmers who raise their livestock ethically.

Dustin, could I recommend that you use like a face cream in the middle of the day? Just a shame to see all that face drying up from so long in the sun I figure you must do something in the morning and something at night, but I wonder if you should look after things in the middle of the day have something on the Pondorosa to help your face a bit . :)
