I’ve played a lot of MLB franchise, here’s all my tips. For pitchers you should be looking 90% at BB/9 and H/9 followed by K/9 and Control. A higher overall player with bad H/9 and BB/9 will sim significantly worse than a lower overall player who’s solid in both of those. For hitters, since most MLB pitchers throw right handed, value hitting stats against righties much higher than versus lefties, seems obvious but thought I’d mention it. Try to prioritize contact > power as guys with good contact will generally sim pretty well, but that doesn’t mean ignore power all together, ideally you want your big power guys to also hit for contact. Discipline and vision shouldn’t be ignored, they can make a guy with 60-70 hitting stats sim very well, and imo guys with high discipline always tend to sim pretty well. As far as team comp goes, pitching is king. Focus early on scouting and drafting pitchers, not only will this help you fill out your rotation/bullpen but it also gives you heaps of young trade pieces, as generally pitchers with high potential will carry more trade value than position players. There’s no secret sauce to building a good lineup, just try to get the best hitters available. However for your important defensive positions (3B,CF,C) you ideally want someone with stats up above 80-85, but as long as you have someone that can at least hold their own, you should be fine. Last thing to mention is don’t forget about the bullpen, apply the same logic when picking these players as the starters, often you will be able to find very cheap, very low overall bullpen players who post dominant ERAs because their H/9 and BB/9 is so high. You can get really good sim results in this game regardless of a players overall rating, don’t get stuck on it.

Yo Kenny, whenever your scouting pitchers press X on Xbox or Square on PS and you can see the pitches the pitchers will have and see other info like velocity of the pitch and how each pitch is rated like you would see if a guy has a great Curve or a Excellent FB etc. it will help a ton with scouting pitchers

If Tim Hill isn't on your major league roster as a relief pitcher, you might as well call him up. He's a veteran side-arm lefty so it makes him fun to have on a team that's already tanking. I know his overall is low but if someone is putting up terrible numbers you can replace them with him as a lefty specialist.

For scouting Kenny I usually do a top prospect guy then have one on discovery for pitching/position group and have the 3rd guy scouting pitching/position of need in the same region as the second guy. Usually works pretty well cause you find out how good the top guys are for your lottery pick then find a bunch of guys in positions you’ll need for later rounds.

u can change ur pitching settings and i forget which one it is but u can turn a setting to pitch trail so when ur pitching u can pick a spot to throw it n that’s where the ball will go so yk exactly where ur putting the pitch it’s a lot better in my opinion

pressing Y or the PS equivalent allows you to sim without going into the menu and clicking sim every time. also, you can click the handshake looking icon in the main franchise menu and go to contracts then scouting contracts to change out your bad scouts with solid ones

WARNING ON 2-WAY PLAYERS YOU FIND: I'll say this from what I've seen. 2-Way players are rare and an interesting guy to draft. BUT, They aren't great hitters. Sometimes they aren't good pitchers. But they are really useful in a case where you play with no DH and you want to keep them on the mound. You won't have to sub them out. But when every hitter you have is better at hitting than your pitcher there isn't a point to use them as a 2-way player. Unless you get lucky. I'd suggest constantly looking at their hitting stats before picking them up. And if you do. Try and find a place to use them as a hitter (DH so they don't lose stamina) And BIG WARNING. The CPU will ALWAYS kick them out of the lineup. So you have to watch whenever (x) gets injured cause if you hit auto, Your line up is messed with

The unknown in secondary positions is bc you havent scouted them enough. Also i dont know how much logic goes into the 2 way players (I have been through hundreds of draft class just looking for 1 with no luck) but he has 40 fielding so i doubt he is 2 way.

not that it really matters much but with the way they made mlb schedules (all teams play all 30 other teams), inter divisions games happen way less than they used to. my mets only play the braves like 12-15 times this year
