The Hand-Built Naturally aspirated AMG V8 in my C63 AMG, the M156, is one of the best sound engines ever made but, we made it sound Ridiculous with a $10,000 SuperCar exhaust. Here's the science behind building a proper exhaust system along with C63 dyno blasts, drivebys, burnouts, launches and a supercar rev battle. The contenders are you're typical McLaren 720S with a fully custom exhaust, a Porsche GT3RS with a fully custom exhaust, a 2020 Lexus LC500 with, you guessed it, a fully custom exhaust and my cheap 2009 C63 AMG. Oh and yes, the exhaust cost more than I paid for the car because that makes total financial sense. @@medogabr9952 Flat plane crank v8's sound great with equal length headers and no turbo. But no one has made equal length for the GT350 , probably because it would be difficult with how little room is left over in the engine bay. That's why it has a weird chop to it, the factory exhaust manifold is bizarre due to fitment constraints.

Since the GT3RS was rev limited, the McLaren. What a transformation on the C63. I had my doubts at the beginning of the project. I thought-what a disaster. Congrats Alex. Hats off to OJ and Billy on the exhaust system. Billy does superb work with a GTAW torch. Any chance of getting them to build something like that (not as complex though) for the CDI? A small amount of turbo whistle would be great.

Sounds so much nicer with valves closed. Not so tuneful bypassing them. Wish I could get my 55 sounding like the valve closed clip.

Agree, much better valves closed. That said, you can get your 55 to sound equally as great, My CLS55 does with MBH Longtubes, and their X-pipe. The extra HP is just a bonus

I agree with the C63 sounding much better with the valves closed. Well done! There is a difference between a nice tone and a loud noise. Out of those 4 at the end, I think the Lexus sounded the nicest, C63 second, Mc 3rd, and the beetle is just too tinny

Just recently bought a straight piped E63, which is super nice, but it really doesn't sound the best. Luckily, living in Indianapolis, and after watching this, I now know a shop that does great exhaust work not too far away! Great video and I love that sound!

I could never understand why people act like mercedes v8s sound spectacularly unique and amazing. They sound great and all, but like you said the coyote sounds practically the same with ANY exhaust system. Most crossplane v8s sound similar for that matter.

Mine sounds deeper, throatier, and louder with more character. Secondary cat delete and custom H pipe in place of resonators. OEM mufflers. Cost me $500.

Absolutely it will sound better in person. I'm well aware of nonprofessional mics' abilities in accurately replicating sound. At WOT my phone's recording sounds raspy. I hate the Tin can rattling v8 sound that most mustangs with cheap catback systems have. His c63 still sounds amazing. I wasn't trying to be a hater, I wanted people to know that 10k is not needed to have the c63 scream with German class. That money is better spent in a tune, headers, e85, and a 100 shot if you're feeling spicy.

Alex this exhaust turned out nutz lol! In all the visits there to Fluid Motor Union, I did not realize that Lexus has a custom exhaust! I guess I was so captivated by the hand prints for the pediatric cancer cause 🤷🏽‍♂️. I think all of them sounds uniquely amazing and the McClaren won the battle based on decibels (I would assume). It would’ve been great to hear the GT3RS closer to 9K RPMs 😎. Great video Bro 👍🏽💯

We wanted them to be a little bit out that way the AMG logo on them is mostly visible. If we pushed them any father back the carbon fiber rear diffuser would have covered the logo.

I love how everyone keeps calling that Lexus an LFA when it’s an LC500 😅. I think the Lexus came in second place compared to your c63. Something about the displacement with a 6.2l just makes it sound amazing with any auto maker.
